What did you do to your Skoda today?

Featured Replies

Time for a move then Dave  - have you tried Chris Knott as well? There's some discount for being a Briskoda member.

  • Popped to the garage at lunchtime to swap coolant temp sensor. I don't think it's the problem but it can't hurt. Going to swap O2 sensor later for the spare I have. Went well, all sorted in 5 mins. T

Drove to Northallerton to buy an allen key set so I could take the brake calipers off, went to Halfords and bought a set, came outside and reached behind the wheel to try them, didn't fit. So I went to B&Q and bought 2 big sets, came out and tried, 7mm one fit so all good. Took front right brakes apart, put new disk on, put new pads in, tried putting brakes back together, put old disk on, put old pads back in and put everything back, took front left brakes apart, to see which side the pad with the sensor goes on only to find no sensor at all. Put everything back, put pads and disks in boot, had nice drive to Motorscope (Northallerton, again :wall: ) and returned pads for new set to arrive hopefully tomorrow so I can fit on Friday. Came home, stripped and cleaned out read drums with brake cleaner.

Quick question: If the new pads come with a sensor, do you just cut it off at the pad?

yep just cut it off. Its only 2 wires embedded in the pad that complete a cidcuit when they wear down and make contact on the disc. Snip and its gone:)

Absolutely SFA

Moved recently purchased machine polisher, that little bit closer to it.......

Took it to Northallerton to get the replacement replacement pads, brought it home, stole borrowed my dads jack out of the Monte, jacked the front end up and took both wheels off and all the brakes, masked the calipers, painted them and the slightly rusty back plates the same black as the drums, fitted the new disks and pads then took it back to Northallerton for a test.

Unfortunately because I was unable to remove the black coating from the disks (tried brake cleaner and tried white spirits as advised on the box to no avail) the holes and grooves are now full of black stuff:

So I'm going to have to try and get that out sometime.

I ended up with black hands from holding mine, had to get them back on the car after too. Still tacky, lovely!

Git a octavia 1.9 tdi pd git engine light on with p0118 code, temp sensor so I changed both sensors 2 times but code keeps reappearing and fan is constantly on.

I bought the car almost a year ago, at around 57000. Not bad so far. :)

The 222.2 was a lucky coincidence. (I reset when I fill up)

Today, I applied the UV coating stuff to my recently reurbed headlights. They look so much better now, hopefully it will last.

Went to to a car show. Wasn't the only Skoda for a change.

Gave them both a good clean inside and out and then made a couple of cosmetic changes to the Ed100’s bum:

Finally installed my Catch-can and more work on my calipers.

Drove back from Southampton to kettering, achieving ~ 70mpg  happy days!
