What did you do to your Skoda today?

Featured Replies

Drove it around, put stuff in it, took the stuff out again later.

Last weekend I changed the winter wheels for summers on the Octavia, Leon and my Dad's Yeti.  Also fitted Sill Protectors to the Yeti, Dad much impressed.

Time for a Haldex oil change on Monday.

  • Popped to the garage at lunchtime to swap coolant temp sensor. I don't think it's the problem but it can't hurt. Going to swap O2 sensor later for the spare I have. Went well, all sorted in 5 mins. T

Tried to rout the GPS aerial up to the top of the dash by taking the middle vents out. But I can't get the vents out. I also can't get them back in again either. I'll leave that job to VASSTech when I get it in for its service and find somewhere else to rout the aerial to. Maybe send the cable through the hole I made for the MDI and have it stuck to the inside of the glove box.

Then I took a back wheel off to see how hard it would be to paint the drums, looks like I'll need a special screw driver to get the drum off. Anyone know what this is? (star shaped thingy)

Then I emptied out the rubbish from the boot and found the spare tyre was flat and there was a plastic clip and a metal wire thing lying in the wheel well. The plastic clip snapped onto the tool kit strap to stop it loosening but I don't know where the wire is supposed to g (if it's from the car) It looks like a rectangle with most of one of the long sides removed, sort of as if it was a handle for something small.

Took the rear spacers off.

Took Octy and family to a National Trust garden, decided to bring them all back and washed the Octy, polished and waxed all of it bar the near side doors (ran out of daylight ).

Washed and aqua waxed the Fabia.

Next weekend I will removing tar spots from the Fabia.

Booked mine in for it's DSG oil & filter change at the dealers and also to have the DSG itself checked out whilst still under warranty as it doesn't seem as smooth as it should be. Asked them to check for any software updates on it or to see if it needs a reboot.... Although after driving it in manual quite a lot recently it does now seem a little bit better when in auto???

Then this evening i replaced the rear aero wiper on the vRS along with lithium greasing all the hinges and locks on the vRS too.

New Haldex oil and filter. Skoda say the filter doesn't need replacing but that seems rather daft.

Sounds like it may be a Torx bit?

Looked at it, in a dusty sorry state sat in my garage :(

6 points is torx

12 points = XZN or triple square.

Nothing much, just put a "Vulcan to the Sky" sticker in the back window. Something I enjoy supporting, it's a great sight when she's flying.

Mike

Went to see one of her last flights before they took her out of service.

First impressions of the Hankook Ventus V12 evo 2s on new Braid wheels after a drive today are very favourable

She's not been taken out of service yet

She was taken out of active service in 1984 and retired she only does displays now since she was restored

Apologies, I thought you meant she'd stopped flying altogether, my misinterpretation

?Does collecting a Raleigh Richmond to sort out for a friend count?

The thread isn't just "what did you do today" if you read it properly :)

I looked at it then a little more then thought I need to stop ****ing about and get on with it so I set about it right away and did some more on another car :P

yep the 'to' did for me.

I moved my steering wheel 60 degrees to the right.  Since my horn stopped working the wheel and boss had to come off.  Mate marked where boss was so that went back on perfectly, but guess which muppet didn't put steering wheel on straight.  Was amusing driving away with wheel on the slant and then forgot to sort it all weekend.... :D

Now back straight again :D

Managed to finally sort out SD card use via Mac this evening (Fat32 something this, convert MP4A to MP3 blah that...)

Anyway, music working well (mainly old school rock) but its highlighted the fact that the speakers really are quite poor...so next mod beckons - speaker upgrade!

Cleaned it, cleaned the door shuts, sills and some of the inner doors, noticed that I need to clean and 'de green' the seals above the doors and the bottoms of the windows.

Time to clean the interior too, a really thorough vacuum, some dusting, interior shampooing, and leather balm for the seats.

I got excited about it... :D tomorrow is mapping day!

Which project is this? The Yeti vRS?
