What did you do to your Skoda today?

Are Vasstech still quite expensive?

I find them quite reasonable. More expensive than independent garages but you now you're getting it done right and they don't say stuff needs doing when it doesn't and it's done with all genuine parts. But they're nowhere near as expensive as main dealers.

  • Popped to the garage at lunchtime to swap coolant temp sensor. I don't think it's the problem but it can't hurt. Going to swap O2 sensor later for the spare I have. Went well, all sorted in 5 mins. T

Took it to Kwik-Fit for two new front tyres, they refused (or leasing company did) to remove the rears, check the balance and fit rears on front to even out the wear. I've swapped them over this evening, was surprised that they have swapped the Michelin Primacy's for Michelin Pilot Sport 3's, don't think I'll be getting 32,000 miles out of these.

Took it to get an MOT and service.

Insured it for another year too.

Replaced all the headlamp bulbs with Philips uprated items and fitted Osram Diadem indicator bulbs front and rear.

Took it for an MOT - it passed!

Admired my wife's kerbing skills they are impressive fair play :(

Taxed it and changed the insurance from Fire & Theft only back to Comprehensive so I can drive it from tomorrow

Also cleaned her inside and out. Poorboys Natural Look Dressing smells awesome

Oh, and yesterday I arranged for my mate to repaint my lower front bumper and boot.

Any chance of a pic of the natural look , was looking at that poor boys stuff but hate anything that makes the dash look like a taxi has just used Mr sheen on it :)

Yeah no worries, but will be tomorrow as I'm out now.

What I will say is that it can been a natural or really shiney depending on how you want it. The more you use, the shinier it is, which is cool.

With the councils starting to apply tar and chippings round here I've finally got round to fitting a mesh guard in front of the aircon condenser.

Here's a view from the top. I've used plastic mesh folded over with cut off sections of large cable ties at each end to give some rigidity and held together with 2.5mm cable ties, I then attached the plastic mounts loosely with more 2.5mm plastic cable ties then removed the double sided tape on the mounts and fixed them in place and finally tensioned the cable ties to get the plastic mesh straight all the stuff is available on ebay for not a lot of money. This only covers the lower grill section but is where the most likely hits would come from. HTH.

all the hits on my grill have come through the main section of the front grill so they are all quite high , ill get a pic

Took it in for its service and bought a new key ring. Also got it new front wiper blades and found that it needs a new centre vent.

Cleaned it yesterday and brought it to Harewood Speed Hillclimb this morning. You do tend to get a better class of neighbour in the car park here :-)

Fitted a new CTS and front sidelight bulb (LED)

Really need to wash it but its far too sunny to wash a black car!

Ripped a chunk out of my thumb, replacing a blown dipped beam bulb.

(Replacing it was easy, but pulling out the old one, it came out with a rush)

Gave the estate a full clean inside and out.

Washed the seagull muck off, clayed and then polished. All black trim and tyres treated. Then went inside, hoovered it out, gave the rubber mats a proper clean and treatment, polished the whole interior, and used leather balm on the seats.

Then it started :rain::rain::rain::rain::rain: .......................... :'(

Also did some VCDS work on a forum members Octavia Blackline, installed microphone, activated bluetooth on the Amundsen +, changed it to Australian to get the digital speedo, switched on cornering fogs and switched off synchronised mirror adjustment.

Busy day in all -- off again tomorrow, haven't decided whether to give the other Octy the same treatment as what the estate has had today, or to have a lazy day and do sod all. Probably going to be the latter!

Mike

Surely the rain gave you the opportunity to see some beading?

Poured diesel all down the side of it  :dull:
