Violent attempted theft of vRS

Featured Replies

Not sure if I'm posting this in the correct section but I figured this was probably as good a place as any to reach as many Fabia vRS owners as possible.

Last Saturday my cousin, known in these parts as Loula, picked up her brand new black Fabia vRS. Last night she, and my aunt, was subjected to a violent attack outside my aunt's house at 2130 when two youths attempted to steal the car. The youths approached them shouting and swearing and wrestled the keys from Loula whilst my 65 year old aunt was thrown to the floor, striking her face on the opened passenger door, and her handbag snatched from her. The coward that had wrestled the keys from Loula actually only had the metal part of the key which meant the car would not start when he tried. Eventually the car in which these cowards had arrived in started to drive off resulting in the one remaining youth abandoning the theft attempt and taking off, having punched my cousin in the face and threatened to kill her.

This is a warning to all drivers of this particular vehicle, and my wife is such a driver, that it could attract more than just admiring glances.

Be very, very careful.

Bloody hell that's scary - hope they are both OK. Suppose there's not much point asking if the police were any help ?

Goes for any car these days i'm afraid.

A sad tale indeed but im glad they are OK, if a bit shook up.

At the end of the day as much as you love your car if someone threatens you let them have it, its not worth risking serious injury for.

Not nice to hear, but it applies to any half-decent car to be quite honest...

where was this??? sounds nasty.

where was this??? sounds nasty.

Just wondering the same thing myself.

They are both badly shaken, cut and bruised, but, basically ok. The police have been pretty good so far.

This happened in a fairly affluent area south of Birmingham.

What is reassuring to know in these times of people not caring is that nearly ten people came out of their houses to help them very quickly indeed.

Scary biscuits!

I'm sorry to hear about that, they must be fairly shaken up.. I hope they both recover and get over the incident ASAP.

Its something I often think about in terms of my car habit. Do I want my Mrs in a desirable car which could attract the wrong sort of attention. We are both good at locking the car as soon as we are in it, but how do you protect agianst an attack as you get into or out of your car?

Not nice - what drives people to act in such a foul way?

todays society of want,want,want.

due to increased wealth, people feel they are entitled to the better things in life even if they can't afford them.

Cant have anything these days, its a shame. Hope the victims are ok!

Oh that is so grim.

Sorry to hear of the terrifying experience they suffered, hope the rozzers manage to catch them with descriptions they hopefully have.

The so so sad world we all now live in...bloody greed and drugs.

I'm sorry to hear about this, slender, but at least there were some good Samaritans about. Hope they both recover from the shock quickly :flowers:

Sadly this is becoming quite common. It's hard to steal a car these days, so the scum go for the keys instead. The obvious targets are the home (particularly if you leave keys on display, where they can be seen from a window) or the driver as they approach the car.

It might be wise to 'blip' the car from within your pocket, and only take the key out once you're locked in the car.

Alternatively, carry a gun, and shoot any chavs who are hanging around your motor.

This is terrible. Had a neignbour broken in to just over a year ago in an attempt to steal their car keys. Luckily the dog scared them off. The scum had earlier stolen a car from a pregnant woman at a filling station about 6 miles from my town. They got caught.

Sorry to hear about this nasty incident.

Really do hope thy catch the b*&t*&d5.

BTW Did all your helpers also get a look @ them ?

Steve

That's really terrible! My sympathies to your cousin and aunt. :flowers:

Really sorry to hear about your family getting hurt. I have got a stun gun for any little theiving gypos that might try and nick my car :finger:

Hope they are both all ok and it all gets sorted!! its just a sad fact of life this happens all too often for my liking! A young lass near me had for new Audi A3 "hi-jax" from a BP petrol station after she had put it through the car wash. Poor lass was just shaming off the excess water when 3 blokes jumped her luck she was just shaken and not hurt, like a fool I gave chase but gave up after 10 mins as it was just was too dangerous! The police were too interested in who I was and what I as driving than the TWOCer's.

I lock my car as soon as I get into it and unlock it with the keys in my pocket and attaced to my belt by a chain. I'm also vary warey about who is about when I go to my car, it's good that only the drivers door unlocks.

Thanks to all who have voiced their concerns and well-wishes. Whilst I' m well aware that this can happen to anybody at anytime the aim of the post was to serve as a cautionary reminder to fellow Skoda drivers to be aware.

Hopefully Loula will back posting in no time. Blimey, she didn't even get a chance to tell you how much she loves her car before all this happened.

On this subject did you see the car wars program last night??

These guys that change a car's ID or clone ID;s then either flog them on in this country or ship them overseas...

This operation was almost a Europe wide investigation and cost hundreds of thousands of pounds to smash this ring.. the guy behind it was eventually caught and got 4 years in prison!!!! I mean he will be out again in 2 years..

Wheres the justice in this.... He would have had quite a network of pro thiefs

under him nicking BM's Mercs etc to order for his 'operation'

Whats the point really???

Alternatively' date=' carry a gun, and shoot any chavs who are hanging around your motor.[/quote']

To quote Dirty Harry "Policy? I shoot the bast**ds, that's my policy".

OH MY GOD! That is outrageoues, really sorry to hear about the incident, that is shocking. I do hope that your girl and Aunt are well and not too traumatised by it?

Like everyone else has said, it's the society we live in... drug fuelled crime

Glad the Old Bill were of help though, makes a change :P

Think we should ask Skoda if they could start doing a "Buy a brand new vRS and get a free Tayser Stun Gun" reckon it might boost the sales!

Hicksy :D
