I use Bosch SUPER 4's, they work well and last too

Iridium plugs are a little pointless, used them in my Yamaha R1 and was told by the dealership that road engines to not have the power etc to use the heat ranges you pay for on the plugs, good quality standard ones are fine....

Hi there,

There are a few Denso plugs to choice from

I have these ones.. Good for remapped cars and should be run with a smaller plug gap.

They have not missed a beat in the 2 years i have used them.

Not cheap as NGK but very better quality IMO

These ones also fit which can be used for even bigger remapped cars.

I ran these in my scoobys

Turbo cars run very hot, I would not say iridium plugs are pointless in Turbo cars and especially higher mapped ones..

It's a fair point but you cant run a high core temperature without causing issues, hence large intercoolers and such like, the cooler the air the better the combustion and more power you get.

I used to own a turbo vauxhall running just under 350bhp, it had super 4's in it, core temperature was almost normal thanks to some extensive induction cooling.....

I ran one set of super 4's and they were OK but when I changed them at service time the new set were way too big a gap and killed the coilpacks so changed to the NKG's and it all gravy :D

There is too much variation in the gaps coming from factory and the super 4's are supposed to be pre gapped as they are not easily done

dont want to jump in on your thread but i just changed mine to these

didnt realise there was so much involved in the detail of gap etc and the difference it makes. would these ones be ok??

says copper cored PK20PR-P8 if that means anything...cars were much more straight forward before I learned anything bout them

bosch super 4s all the way... if youve mapped it

they are £20 retail, per set

but if youve got a trade card for halfrods you can get them for £12 they should be bosch 509 super4s.

they last longer fancy Iridium plugs and do the job fine. well they do well in mine and my frends cupra witch are both above 220bhp.

The only thing that precious metal tipped plugs do for you is extend the service life, but you pay accordingly, there is no measurable benefit over a correctly spec'd copper core plug.

NGK BKR7E works perfectly, just needs changing more regularly to get the best performance, and they are cheap as chips.

Another alternative that may not be so well known is Motorcraft AGPR071C - these really are cheap, can be had for £8-9 a set - popular fitment in Sierra/Escort Cosworth to 400bhp or so and work brilliantly.

  • 5 weeks later...

I'm currently running PFR6Q, but as the car is k04 around 250bhp I'm thinking about changing (although the car runs fine as is). My questions are:

1. Should I change?

2. PFR7Q or BKR7E?

Thanks ;)

i know the bk7re run slightly colder, not sure about the PFR7Qs. The bkr7e is meant to be good for the kind of power you are talking so would look at those, its what i use.

thinking about doing mine too as not too sure what plugs are on the car from previous owner. I can get ngk oem for £24 a set - any point at all in opting for anything else?

if you buy oem ngk they cost more but i think last longer, bk7res can be had for about £8 but need changing ever 10k if i remember so i guess it comes down to whether you change them or not.

Guest westallc

best plugs are standard plugs

you do not need to run lower temp plugs etc etc on a stage 1 or stage 2 car

denso irriduim are horrid mine lasted 90 miles before failure and after a google search its common lol

speaking to a few tuners they have all said on a k03s or k04 etc etc just run standard plugs
