Android Apps

Featured Replies

Apart from the usual common stuff, apps I find useful:

ConvertPad - Unit converter

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mathpad.mobile.android.wt.unit

AVAST Mobile Security (not necessarily for anti virus but good for other stuff like tracking lost/stolen phone, filtering SMS and call from blocked numbers etc)

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.avast.android.mobilesecurity

Remind Me - Create reminders

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aspartame.RemindMe

Galaxy Torch - Use your camera flash as a torch

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.swijaya.galaxytorch

Kguard KView HD - For viewing CCTV from your mobile

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kguard.KViewHD

On the subject of task killers, you don't need them with Android. Android is designed to keep things in memory ready for next use, and items in memory do not use battery. Reloading them after you've killed them does however.

If an app is killing your battery, it's a carp app. Uninstall it.

Kitkat goes further and stops apps using too much processor and battery.

If you have Tivo from virgin media. Download the app and connect your box to your wifi. Works really well and a lot better than using the remote.

The best of the many apps I've got:

CoPilot which for £26 is simply brilliant.

Ultra car home - mandatory for in car use as it makes it all big buttons and screen on permanently if the charger is plugged in.

Dropbox

MyFitnessPal

Lookout - I've paid for the premium version, again £5 irrc but when you think Norton, Kaspersky etc are all £30+ is very reasonable.

Spotify - premium so I can listen to music on holiday / flying etc

Strava

Paypal

Moxier Mail for connecting to an outlook exchange server.

Poweramp - can play FLAC and hi res audio files.

Daily Roads Voyager - dashcam.

Tapatalk (for briskoda)

CamerAlert - speed camera warning for cars with factory satnav that wont! (like Amundsen+)

Word Lens. Like a real life TARDIS translation circuit. Select the language you want to translate into, hold the camera up to the text and it puts the translation over the top. Amazing!
