fabia vrs 5 speed?

Featured Replies

I went to see a fabia vrs yesterday and it only had 5 speed. I thought all vrs were 6 speed. It was a 54 plate if that makes any difference. The log book stated vrs pd 130 on it. Anyone know anything regarding this?

The 04 plate on our driveway is 6 speed..if that helps you...I don't think they did any 5 speed ones, but someone may correct me. Seems strange to me!

as have i, iv had an 04 and 05 and both 6 speed. Maybe they changed the box and the gearknob at same time?

ALL vRS`s are 6 speed

Matt

Did you try and see if 6th gear was there?

Could be the gear knob was replaced with non OEM one?

No i didnt but when i asked why it was only 5 he never said anything. Hes owned it 2 years so im sure he would have noticed a 6th gear!

Could be proved wrong but i believe very first models of the fabia vrs (2003) where indeed 5 speed, but think this changed sometime in 2004.Sure someone out would of had one and

will put us right.

i thought the 5 speed vrs was 100bhp, the 6 speed 130bhp. i mite be wrong, but i got told that off a car dealer.

Mines a early fabia, 2003, and its a 6 speed.

my 53 plate is 6 speed, as far as i was aware they are ALL 6 speed

Mines 53plate, and it's a 6 speed. When I was looking at buying a vRS at first, I did see a couple that were advertised as 5 speed - so I always thought there were a few that were 5speed?

No doubt they were ALL 6 speed. 5 speed would reuiqre the smaller clutch, different driveshafts/starter motor, etc etc. It didn't happen!

If this is 5 speed its most likely a kitted out TDI PD100. The log book wouldn't say "vRS PD130" I don't think - well it might say vRS if it is a genuine one. It should have the engine number down as ASZ____

Hope this helps.

That just goes to show what bullsh!tters dealers are. A 100bhp vRS? Pull the other one!

Mine is a 2003/03 first registered in July 2003. Previously owned by Skoda UK and I believe one of the first vRS's in the country . Used a press car. 6 speed.

I'd check Parkers. They normally have a good grasp of whats going on with equipment and stuff! I'll also say that there is no such thing as a 100bhp vRS - this is absolute twoddle! It could be genuine, and like someone said, gear knob could have been replaced. If there is no 6th gear in the box its either been replaced or it quite simply, isn't a vRS.

I'd probably stay well away though!! Do the pd100's have 5 speed or 6 speed? If they're 5 speed then it's probably a modded one of them!

all VRS's were 6 speed, it was the only fabia to have a six speed as far as i know, did the gear nob look like a genuin vrs or did it look like it had been replaced? I recon its a done up 1.9tdi 100bhp

What was the reg of it ?

You could do a vehicle check and see what it comes back with ?

Did the gear kn0b have the vRS logo on it?

Are any of the Octy vRS a 5 Speed? As said above, wrong kn0b?

If it's got the vRS logo on it, but is only 5 speeds.. something's very wrong and don't bother following that car up.

To me it sounds like a Fabia vRS with a octavia vRS 5sp box, do a HPI check chassi numbers blah blah blah.

the ratios would be all to **** then, car would do about 70mph flat out!!!!!

So...... all vRS's six speed then :giggle:

All are 6 speeds. The early golf pd130 had 5 speeds I think.

Vw also fitted the 5 speeds to the early vw polo tdi racers.
