toyo proxes t1 R

Featured Replies

just has some of these fitted to the vRS hearse...read good reports about the earlier t1 S and the R is the new type - anyone tried them yet or am i the first?

they worked out cheaper than the original bridgestone er30's but I assume they will not last as long :D

only done a few miles so will report when had a good thrash in them

Only use Continental tyres myself. Skoda fit them for a reason.

Thinking of going the same route myself on the Fabia - I'll give you a week then I expect you to report back ;)

Not a big fan of Continentals mysellf. Had both Premium and Sport Contact 2 fitted to my old clio. Found they aquaplaned.

Had some Falkern FK 451's fitted a few weeks ago. Stood up well on sunday. So far only bad thing i've noticed is the stiff sidewalls.

Continentals for me too. Notice a major deterioration when switched from Continentals to Firestones.

Got contis on the octavia - will be changing them to something else when worn out though.

They make great push iron tyres though.

the probable "reason" was price based!

and as price is not the only factor in tyre choice i had a look "round" everyone has differing requirements whether its for long life, wet stability etc so what suits one driver would be considered useless by another...the last continentals i used were not fit for fitting on a wheelbarrow so i wouldn't try them again!

also the tyres skoda fit varies - mine came with bridgestones.

I had t-1R fitted on my 17" and have to say they are much better than the "S" they replace

am getting a full set to go on the OE wheels just after xmas :)

I'm getting close to needing new rubber and am propably going with Hankook Sport K104. I have compared the independant reviews on these and they are way better than my stock ContactSports. And

At 218 pounds for the pair (fitted) I'm going for another set of Goodyear Eagle F1s to be fitted in a couple of weeks.

Got about 17k miles out of a pair at the front but TBH they are right on the wear markers now.

Way better than the old Contis for grip but several thousand miles short in lifespan.

Would be interested in your long term thoughts. I have been told the compound is similar to the previous tyre but the sidewalls are much stiffer, dont know if this is true or not but I have heard they are better

Contis are good, can't disagree with that.

However Skoda also fit Dunlop SP 3000's to the Octavia RS, it's just a question of what they had in stock when your car was built.

Now, Dunlop 3000's are IMHO poor, therefore the "Skoda fit them for a reason" argument doesn't really hold any water with me.

Mine has the original Dunlop 3000's on still and i find them poor, i am looking at Toyo's too, will wait to hear your verdict :)

I had Dunlops on my Octy vRS for the first 18K miles..

I then put Toyo T1-S which have 19K on them at this time but will need

replacing in around a 1000 miles time.. These tyres not only were cheaper

I put T1-R's on my Octy in early October, and have preferred them to the Conti's which were on previously, although saying that the Conti's were pretty close to the line.

My brief play with them confirms pretty much what they say, stiffer sidewall

MUCH better dry grip. and alot quieter too :)

I paid

I've got the T1-S and I'm not that impressed tbh....

interesting thread, the fronts on my fabia are getting a bit worn now so I'm thinking about replacing Toyo or Bridgestone seem to be my choice at the moment. But I know this is slightly off topic but is it better to swap the rears to the front and run them down and then change all four or just change the fronts?

I must admit I like Conti's although I did try a set of Toyo's on the Scoob. The Toyo's were good but only used them in the summer and destroyed them on a track day.

The Octy came with Michelin Pilot HX's fitted which are absolutely crap in wet conditions. Even in damp conditions it's wheelspin city.

Compound is so hard they will bloody last for ages as well. :(

Cheers

I'm considering getting some T1-R's when I have worn the Yoko's out. In the meantime, I'm also considering some Toyo R888's for some track abuse. :D

My understanding is that, for your average car/ driver, it is better to have the most tread at the rear of the car.

I have done 18K miles in my Octy vRs ........I replaced the fronts (Dunlop) at 11K miles with Pirelli P Zero Rosso which after 7K miles are looking very shabby , 2 track days and a handling day though .... ;) .........you can't have grip and longevity !........I would have the Pirelli's again , but as I have just changed the backs to Bridgestone Potenza's , I think I will try them on the front as well .

Any particular reason why you didn't go for the 245-45 x 17 option as they are generally cheaper than the original fit size and apparently perform just as well on the standard rims?

245 'ss on standard rims??? No I did go to 225 x 45 x 17's which are cheaper

....

cheers
