Skoda convert - vRS or 4x4 turbo?

Featured Replies

ouch that pushes a 4x4 elegance clear of 20k....

most people dont wish to spend that much.....

you have forgotten to mention that you have an armrest... which vRS's do not... does this combat the roof bars in lowering the centre of gravity...:D

as for you being gay... entirely your choice:thumbup:

do we have any gay Octy vRS owners?

Including what I've spent on mods mine cost under

Paul, what do you think of 300 BHP in the vRS on road tyres in the wet? I wondered if on road tyres there was much point in changing the turbo on the vRS? Would you have done it if you didn't use slicks on dry, smooth tracks? I read about the Ibizas with VF34 conversions, and although they are only putting down about 300-310 lbft they seem to get depressed when it rains, having paid a fair bit and waited for the conversion.

Re 300 BHP, why the need to run gearbox snapping torque with it just because you can? Why not run 250 lbft the whole way and use revs? Or do the long stroke 1.8Ts not like making power at 6500 RPM?

Would anyone care to give Kev some advice or would you like to head outside for your punch-up ?

A classic example of a rhetorical question...

if you use the correct road tyres its not a prob... kumho or p zero c are fine...

you cant use all the power all the time but then you cant in a tvr or 911 either...

but 4x4 are for ****ing puffs only.

so buy a vRS

What kind of stupid, brainless and homophobic reply is that?

Grow up.

gary ... grow a sense of humour... then again you must have one having spent that much on a golf.....

Nasty, horrible Golfophobic man :P

Dirty, smelly Rover driver.

(Obviously aimed at Ffelon!!)

May I remind everyone about the forum laws re: calling each other ****s :)

havent driven a rover in weeks... or a skoda for that matter..

Thats my choice and isnt up for debate, what is up for debate is your comments which were completely out of order.

in your opinion.

do you have an opinion on the topic of the thread ? or as i suspect are you just pontificating on others thoughts as you of course are a higher authority than skoda owners by virtue of the fact you paid alot more money for less car just so you can not drive a skoda..

my little sister is just like you.. wouldnt have a skoda.. so bought a golf.. ..2yrs later still wouldnt have a skoda so she bought a passat...

of course you are joining the debate a little late... 4x4's or RS's being gay;)

take a look at this thread and see who fired the first shot... 2 years ago...

Carrera 4 gets as reasonably close as I could expect :D

Carrera 4 gets as reasonably close as I could expect :D

agree

but that also is heavier, slower and not as nice to drive as its 2wd siblings...

;)

The 2WD siblings are driving the correct pair of wheels though even if the engine is in the wrong place ;)

Standard vRS seems to put its power down well enough in the dry, not tried a 4x4 or in the wet yet...

I don't understand what facination you have regarding me driving a Golf?

I don't subcsribe to the whole 'Brand Snobbery' thing!!

Personally I love the looks of the Vrs and would probably go that route if I were planning on buying a Skoda as like for like it would feel pretty similar performance wise to my Golf and is great value for money.

On the other hand after driving EddyH's 4x4 Octy I do feel that it puts the power down so much better and that was in the dry.

Its a car you can just floor out of corners, exitting roundabouts etc without fear of losing traction and understeering - We are not all track masters like you.

My comments aimed at you were with regards to the fact that you must be gay if you drive a 4x4. To me thats school yard talk and not what I would expect from an adult.

the whole 4x4 vs vRS is school yard... dont blow it out of proportion... as im faced with the real possibility of my next vehicle being mk5 in shape and diesel then the slice of humble pie will be pretty large... i only hope they dont launch a yellow 4wd sdi diesel grey interiored Touran on 14"s with a flower vase cos its sods law thats what will arrive.....

Bang out of order Mr. Moderator sir. Grow up.

And as for 'who started the whole gay thing' it doesn't matter. I didn't like that sort of humour when it started on here and I don't like it now. As Gary pointed out it's childish and offensive.

BTW what was the name of that member who left because he couldn't put up with the homophobic ranting by some members of this forum?

There is only one gay around here.......

2525.attach

whose that then Jimmy?

whose that then Jimmy?

Paul, there's meant to be an attachment of Dafyd off Little Britain but it hasn't worked for some reason

Not a dig at anyone, honest..... :D
