That time again...Worst current car of the year?

Featured Replies

Well, what is your nomination?

My mate works for a multi franchise operation, and he reckons that the on the Rover side the CITYROVER is the absolute pits.

Must say that I think it does in fact look dreadful, and I believe it squeaks and rattles a lot, poor to drive and made with very low rent materials.

Going to have one of my famous imaginary bets here for one car that is bound to be mentioned. A grand @ 2/1 that it's named before midnight.

Fiat Panda - Stupid name

Renault Modus - Stupid shape

Citroen C3 Pluriel - Utterly pointless

Vauxhall Meriva - Why? :thumbdwn:

Ford Ka - How can it still live on?

BMW X3 - Buy a 3 series, or an X5. Don't buy an X3 because it looks a bit like it might be able to go off road

Porsche Cayenne - Ugly

Just a few off the top of my head.

Peugeot 206 ok not new but it's a pile of horse **** that needs more attention than a woman!

I hate Renault Megane Scenics, also can't stand Peugeot 406s, and MG ZRs, so many of all three about at the minute too.

No maybe, but it is current.

See all the grief it's getting on 'Watchdog', ref the cutting out problems.

Daewoo Lacetti -there's one parked outside my office window! Oh, and another vote for the CityRover and the Cayenne.

Phil

No maybe' date=' but it is current.

dont even get me started on that one colin! Mine had so many problems that it would be easier to say what was right with it.

Atleast the brakes didn't shatter on mine lol

Citroen C2 is the worst I've driven.

Cayenne - terrible :thumbdwn:

Vauxhall Signum ----------------------------------- nuff said

I rather like the Cayenne... :sofahide:

The CityRover is pretty bad, but I'd also vote for the Nissan Primera too...it's horrible, but in it's favour is better put together than the CityRover...

I'm also going to say the Fabia vRS, so that CJ can win some imaginary money. :D

Rob.

Cityrover is poor but actually it's sytling isn't too contraversial. There's far worse in that departemnt.

For me the BMW X3 is high up there as it is an off-roader than couldn't mananage to drive across a bowling green.

Also add anything which has left hand drive wiper patterns. Clio, 206, Megane Scenic, BMW 5-series-that annoys me and smacks of lazyness on the design team!

That's because most cars are designed LHD by a team of highly-talented designers. Then once the car is finished, they in a bunch of YTS chimps to make it RHD... :D

Rob.

Also noticebale how you have to pay extra for indicators on the BMW 5 series!

pug 407 - looks like a Codfish with that mouth. Obviously the designers took their cues from the old Ford Scorpio............

 Skoda Octavia II

Why? Well, I'm sorry, no car manufacturer in the world can receive so many comments from customers about hatchback that pours all the water on it into the boot, and produce a massively improved car that still provides this rather unwanted feature........

Rover/MG - the entire range.

Somebody please put this company out of it's misery and build something resembling a 20th century car at least rather than an 18th century sideboard/dresser.

Rolls-Royce. - Ugly. Horrendous shape created by some genitally-disadvantaged designer desperately seeking to prove how manly he can be.

Maybach - see above.

Jag XK8/XKR - I'm sorry. You can't expect me to pay 50K for a sports tourer that I can't fit in, even with the seat all the way back. It's pitiful.

There are more, but then I'd get so opinionated that I might have to have slightly permed hair, cowboy boots and denim and call myself "Jeremy"........

AX's pretending to be Saxo's I reckon...

Wosre car ever...umm Chap in work just brought a 3yr old fiesta, broke down on him on the way back...stood for hours in the cold *does not believe in paying for rescue services as he's only had to once in 30+ years...any the bugger just won a 42" plasma screen so that fiesta is the worst car ever :D

But really, well my nomination would be the x3 again...can't go to far off road and will destry alot of cars in a side on crash...just as once has to keep ahead of oil burners one must be safe. When I've won the lottery and moved to Monaco I'm contacting a bloke in Saudi about a Hummer, then we'll see how close I can get to a BM's bumper befre they get annoyed :D.

Cityrover is bad... I did the old "open and close door" test and it twanged and tinnggggged like an early 80's suzuki...

Biggest disappointment was the Smart.. I thought, still think, it's a great concept. But driving it reminded me of a fiat 126, with more electrics and less driver involvement.

(2nd biggest was the Fabia RS.. having always liked driving the Fabia this was a let down.... driving a normal one again (the 1.4PD) reminded me what is great about the normal Fabias)

(please note, I'm not saying either the smart or the fabRS are the worst cars of the year, just that I had great expectations of both)

Rover/MG - the entire range.

to be fair with the financial backing (or lack of it) they have made some ok cars, none of which are that bad to drive, ok not upto standard but then if had investment it might be different

"all for the want of a horseshoe nail"

&

"if my grandmother had wheels she'd be a wagon"

It's a very big "If" Mike, exceptionally big. But, in the cold harsh here and now..........the range leaves me stone cold.

With the correct financial backing they produced the 75, which is a pretty good car in it's class by all accounts. I think they've proven that they are capable of getting it right, they just need to apply the same technique to the aged 25 and 45...

Rob.

Got to agree. I like it and it's soprts car performance from a school run Wagon

i like the cayenne too, but don't like the people who drive them...

I don't have any time for the entire Rover/MG range: it's a shame, but I think they're dead in the water.

I also fail to see the point in the entire range of Smart cars: they're all expensive, and they're all slow. Real cars do the job better, and for less money.

But the worst car I drove this year was a Civic diesel. It was truly horrible.
