Looks great.

It actually looks pretty cool without the bump strips fitted, but I guess its not very practical like that! Terrible news about the fire, but put in perspective lucky no one got hurt (and your wagon is untouched).

Car looks stunning Nobafett and considerably cleaner than mine lol. Its a crazy colour with the pearl on the silver and car looks white from distance in overcast weather.

ps What exhaust do you have fitted mate as looks very smart?

I wish it was that clean at the moment, it's not been washed for weeks! The exhaust is a turbo back milltek and I love it.

I totally agree and like it without the bump strips but as you say it's just never going to stay dent free without them :(!

Well sorry folks its been ages since i updated this thread but been busy with the little un and been skiing with the lads for a well deserved break if you ask me :).

Anyway the cars been on the road for a week now as didnt want my tax and insurance to hit me just after xmas every year!

And the verdict is that i love the Octy!

Its a pleasure to drive whether it be cruising or pushing it. In regards to the latter the Eibach springs, ARB's and TT wishbone bushes are an amazing improvement over the standard setup and although comfortable to drive on our terrible roads there is minimal body roll and handling is super impressive for a big lump of car!

Talking about big lump of car the 345mm brake setup is excellent, both aesthetically through the dark wheels and in what they do best, stopping the car! The bit is perfect and not snatchy like ive found on previous setups, but my biggest worry now is someone running in the back of me if i slam on (im tempting fate saying that!)

The TSI engine is amazing! Its as simple as that really and a nice note from the BSH true seal induction kit fitted. There will be plenty more playing under the bonnet before i will be happy with leaving it be, mind!!

I know the looks aint to everyones tastes, but i love the colour and the fact that it doesnt scream at you but in the sun it has a flicker if blue on the different angles of the bodywork and think the wheel colour suits.

Still got the sideskirts to fit and also Ive decided to leave the gloss black roof wrap off for a month or so to see if i definately want it and also the cold weather aint the best for fitting anything external with adhesive. Opinions and or a photoshop would be greatly appreciated please?

There is still plenty of little interior finishing touches to do and a thoroughly good clean before anyone sees inside it (not that its that exciting and different to any vRS in there lol).

Think i will keep this thread for all the mods that i do on the car and hope that its been an interesting read so far and heres a few pics (I know the front wheel badge is missing but had to change front bearing and needed to check the hubnut a day later. Its back on now).

Mad thing is it was taken on an iphone as didnt have my decent camera with me. Just got lucky with the sun setting through the trees when i took it and came out ok :)

Looking very nice, alot of hard work, glad your finally enjoying it

Good to see the update, looking well.

Fantastic. What a journey!

Looking forward to seeing some really good pics once everything all finally complete!

PS Silver Petrol Octy Estates Rule!!

Noice.

That's pretty much convinced me to turn the grille surround black on my silver vRS.

Brilliant result. And thoroughly deserved with all the work you've put in emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Looking great and a beautiful result from all your hard work.Well done

Cheers lads il get the camera out and take some decent pics once I can clean it.

What's everyone's opinion on the roof wrap then? I'm not sure at the mo myself and gonna see how I feel in a few weeks.

I wouldn't personally. Not a huge fan of contrasting roofs....

The dark grille to match the wheels really works. I thought about doing that to mine, but too late now!

Sorry mate i have had a look and did reply but it was on the phone and must have failed to send!

Looks good just difficult to compare your blue saloon with matt/carbon roof with what i il have with silver estate with gloss black. My decision changes by the minute on whether to do it or not :S

My roof is not matt/carbon it is Black magic maybe you can see better from this pic of the B pillars DSC00148.jpg

Oh right must have been the angle mate and yea can see it a bit better in that picture, just looks like there is a sort of grain to the paint which will be the metallic showing (pics never really do a colour justice do they).

I wonder if someone can photoshop a black roof on a silver estate for me to give me a idea.

Il keep updating this thread with mods as they progress and promise i will get some decent pictures posted of the car clean in the sunshine so the colour is more noticable. Also need to get the sideskirts fitted and we will see about the roof :)

Just read this from the beginning, what a great build and excellent coverage of what has been done. Think the car looks awsome. But i think you should leave the roof as it is, seems a shame to cover up a large area of that paint. ive done the black grill on my blue vrs but didnt change the badge. i like the idea of using the fl vrs badge on the grill are they an easy swap (just adhisive)?

Keep up the good work.

Cheers fella and i know what your saying about the roof and just cant make up my mind if i want is black or not :S .

In regards to the front badge swap, its been done on here by a few people and as you think its just adhesive that holds the badge on so remove old and replace.

What a read this is mate. Fair play to you for doing a very good job well done mate! Im down in Swansea a lot so i'll have to keep an eye out for you!

Did u not say at some stage u were fitting side skirts or have I missed something ;)
