If you had ordered a manual build week 3 a reasonable estimate but not for DSG.

I will be surprised if it is built before 1st March so safe for an 11 plate.

finely built friday 7 jan left factory sunday should soon be here at long last at least it will be a lot cheaper with no vat

dealer told me today it is in the country grimsby he expects to be with him at the end of the week yippee

I ordered a Fabia Estate 1.2 TSI 105 SE DSG in early December and was quoted 12 weeks delivery. Just nice for early March.

That was 6 weeks ago and my dealer has no build week to give me as yet.

He gave me the SLI number and that drew a blank on the progress website at the link given earlier in this thread.

I am wondering now whether the original 12 weeks was optimistic.

My wife got her Fabia estate 1.2TSI DSG two days before Xmas. 26 weeks to the day!! She's quite pleased with it though!

When I first enquired early October I was told DSG lead time was around 6 months while 1.2 TSI manual and 1.6TDI around 3-4 months.

Since DSG not an option on diesel I ordered end of November with the aim of early April delivery.

Provisionally my build is week 9, I will ask at beginning of February if based on current deliveries I can still expect to take delivery around week 13.

The dealer said DSG delivery times were improving but still significantly longer than 1.2 TSI manual and 1.6 TDI.

I don't have a SLI number and the website I looked at was for fleet buyers not private purchases anyway.

What I was told is once a car is being built the dealer can see a chassis number on their computer system against the order and delivery is then normally 3-4 weeks.

ordered a fabia 1.2 se dsg capuchino sat 15 01 11 when do you reckon i will get it

dealer spluttered 12 weeks but that seems a common unkept promise

cant see how they can tell fibs like that if they know its untrue

would think it brings vw group into disrepute

oh well we will see

See previous post of mine, I ordered my Fabia elegance estate 1.2 TSI DSG on 31 Aug. and was told by dealer I would receive it "about" December, this then went to being built in week 3, then week 1, now back to build week 3 (this week). I am hopeful now that when it does arrive it will be on an 11 plate.

Ironically I had the opposite problem. I went to the dealer in November and asked when I should place the order to get a car (1.2TSI) in March. They said I needed to order it immediately so the deal was done. Just before Christmas they started making noises about delivery in late Jan or Feb because Skoda insisted that it had to be registered as soon as it arrived. I disputed this and they have reluctantly agreed to stick to the original terms. So I'm hoping for 1st March on an 11 plate. But I'm not counting my chickens yet.

Maybe they had a cancelled order for the same engine, trim level, colour as you have ordered so you have queue jumped.

Mine was ordered beginning of November, picking up this Tuesday, 18th January!!

What spec? I ordered a 1.2 DSG Elegance on 2 November; the dealer e-mailed me just after New Year to say they were still planning a March delivery.

   some wonderful news today, dealer called and I have a build week 5 (end of jan). He also stated due to the VAT offer cars are coming through quickly once built and he said 2 - 3 weeks rather than 3 - 5 weeks. His estimated collection date for me is 2 or 3 week of feb    (original order date was 27th December 2010)

The obviously slight bad news is that it will be registered as a 60 plate rather than an 11. He stuck to his line that once the car is in the country and its for a specific order they must registered it within 15 days.

I would of course prefer the 11 plate but to be honest with the money saving I (and lots of you made) all I want is the car !! Plus it could still make the 11 plate by default anyway due by a week or so's delay.

Happy days anyway

Well All I can say is thats interesting as my VRS was supposedly build week 3 ie this week and is expected at the dealers for the 2-3 week of feb and available for collection the second last/last full week of feb and I've been told I can have it held for a 60 plate. Though maybe I need to double check

CAN - i sounds like similar delivery times. I can only post what the dealer told me, but he emphasised that once built they are leaving the factory/getting to the UK a lot quicker due to the promotion on the VAT.

Also without sounding rude would us 'southerners' get cars quicker than you guys in Scotland ? I have no idea where the delivery ports are in the UK for Skoda. Just wondered.

If I hear anything else ill let you guys know.

Quite possibly its something to do with the distance it has to travel in the UK though I was only told this on wednesday ie yesterday.

If build is week 5 ie w/c 31 Jan I would be very surprised if the car is in the UK before 14th Feb so then pushing 15days to the limit gives you 1st March i.e. 11 registration.

Other posts on this forum say Grimsby is one port.

Delta thanks on the ports and the delivery time. I would obviously like an 11 plate if possible, however just excited to get a new car.

Am only posting on what the dealer told me, if he is being a bit economical with the truth on delivery by a week or two, then so be it, however at least i have got a build week 5 confirmed.

Appreciate the information.

Well quick update which didn't realy come as that much of a surprise. I was informed today that a 60 plate or an 11 plate will be determined by the delivery time to the dealer as apparently they are being given 10days to register the car for the customer by Skoda UK as one of the terms for the VAT free offer. However I was also advised of a 2-3 week delivery time this time instead of 3-4.

CAN - sounds like the same thing as told to me. Delivery times are quicker and they have to register the cars quicker. However i was given 15 days as the bench mark. At least its similar i suppose.

I guess on the delivery times that in 2010 took 3 - 5 weeks from factory to dealer that was not good enough so 2 -3 weeks is more normal.

Cheers

just wonder what would happen if you bought a private plate xx11xxx

would the dealer accept or say no way its gonna be a 60 tough

you cant attach an 11 to a 60 plate later just me being awkward

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

the contract i signed was as if the car was infront of me

and said i have inspected and accepted it

but its still a pile of scrap iron at the moment without a chassis no

dealers not contacted to say when to expect delivery

the delivery date not agreed

but you have a 28 day window to give 7 days notice if the date is exceeded apparentley

has to registered within 14 days

seems to me they are being bullies all the balls in their court so to speak

dont get me wrong nice cars seem well built

just me being customer should have more clout or i take my money elswhere next time

thing is although there is an incentive ie the vat back deal

as i understand from the dealer

its their margin thats been cut not skoda/vw

i feel sure if they were priced at the list price

dealers would have to come down to similar prices to shift the volumes

making skoda vw on a win win

sorry if i sound a bit disgruntled just feeling a bit miffed reading some of the other threads

and my conversation with dealer

me saying i want the car on the 15 april or later

he said if it arrives sooner we will register it and you loose warrenty

somthing dosent seem right

Yes, I was told by my dealer that the car must be registered within 14 days of landing in the UK.

I'm on build week 4 so maybe I'll be on a 60 plate too - was hoping for 11 plate, but could still happen if there are delays on their end.

While I'd rather it didn't come with a 60 plate at the last week in feb I am happy to take the car now if they could give it to me tomorrow as I've been waiting on mine since the begining of October and it'll be getting a personal plate on it for me but I know that it'll make a diffrence should/when I come to sell it. Though in all honesty I suspect I may be hanging on to this for a while with all these new euro anti emissions gayness getting to the point its effecting how cars perform now.
