Got My Latest Fabia Still not sure was Right Decision.

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Well last Thursday picked up my 06 Plate Fabia VRS from Simpsons of Great Yarmouth.

Still not sure if I've done the right thing, my old VRS was such a good car maybe I should of kept it but saw this one for sale with only 22K on the clock so decided to take the plunge.

So my question is have I made the right decision, see pic's below. (Haven't had chance to Polish the Black one yet!!)

Chap meant to be flying over from Ireland first thing tomorrow morning to pick the Silver one up. :'(

Prefer the black I think, both cars look pretty mint. Any dodgy bits on the new one???

prefer the silver. Black masks the vRS bumpers I find making it look standard from a little distance.

Only problem on the New one is that the Alloy wheels have some corrosion on them so will probably get then refurbished after the Winter.

You got four spare wheels sitting on the silver one. ;)

Both cars look nice.

I prefer the shine that can be achieved an a black car, and it is very hard to generate a 'wet-look' shine with silver. Having said that I found that silver seems to hide dirt better than black, so there is a bit of a trade off between how often you clean/polish and the the overall effect of a decent detailing session.

IMO, I think that you've made the right decision - its just a shame that black is soooo common :p

Hope that the sale goes well with the silver one

Any plans for the new purchase?

:giggle: Yeh did think about that but had already taken a deposit on it so no way I was going to change it then, not fair on the other guy.

I've had my vRS for 2 weeks now & covered over 1000 miles in all sorts of weather, still looks clean

you will notice a difference between the two, newer one will be the blt engine... does it have the s...s...s...s...ssstutter?

The black one looks much better IMHO. Bitch to keep clean though.

No No stuuutttteeerrrrrrrrrrrrr at all thankfully.. Though have already read up about that and the so called fix.!!!

Does seem to show more to the gallon on the computer but will calculate how accurate the gauge is after a couple of tankfull's have gone through it.

Cheers Richard,

Lovely RS wheels on yours, thinking rather than refurb mine next year I should go for a set of those or the RS6 ones.

Blue's the new black!

LOL Cheers DRJ that's all I needed... :giggle:

Was looking for a Ltd. Edition but the extra cash they were making for a decent one just didn't make financial sense for me right now.

whats the stutter you talk about guys?

Apparently the later BLT engines can suffer from a Stutter at around 2k Revs.

Not noticed it myself, think it was something to do with Skoda changing things to meet Emision targets but sure someone else will fill you in properly.

ye my old fiesta (1.6 tdci) did it around the same kind of rpm and under the same very light throttle......never bothered me.

Very nice mate - I love black but my girl friends got a silver car which really hides the dirt well. My vRS seems to be dirty within a day of driving!

Danger of double meaning there which I'll obviate.

It was something to do with the earlier BLT engines when they replaced the ASZ engines in late 2005/early 2006. There was a Skoda fix to cure it and certainly I've not noticed it at all on my late BLT engine...

Got a black one now, never again,  looks dirty within 2 hours of washing it, swirls show up like anything (suppose I could try polish them out).

Hey Wayne,

I bought the silver one, it's a very nice example. I didn't realise though until I got home that the rear spoiler blew off on the motorway!!!!! I am going to have a look when I clean it tomorrow as it's a bit grimey where the spoiler was, if it cleans up I don't think I'll stick another on. I wonder how much the spoilers go for?

Anyway, hopefully this is the only thing that goes wrong, seems like a well built little car.

Thanks Rob.
