Black headlamps, black car - I think I like them

Featured Replies

Was a bit dubious about these and what light output would be like, but took it for a drive last night and all seems fine

They look great B)

Looking good

Look good.

Did you buy them from Super Skoda?

I quite fancy the black grill myself now.

As I suspected, they look the business.................would have done this myself a few months back, but couldn't justify the expense.

They came through quickly and seem to fit snug as a bug!

They do look great. I wonder how they'd look on a blue car.

Off topic, your black grille, have you bought that form somewhere or did you have it painted?

Cheers

The grille is a DIY job, using a super matt black paint - it still chips, so in time I may well get it carbon wrapped

My BMW grill was painted black, but I seemed to be touching it up every couple of weeks. Looked nice though.

I quite fancy 'stealthing' my Black Octy estate with a black grille and debadging.

Look great but are these definitely OK for UK cars i.e. the company in the link are not reselling Super Skoda headlamps?

My car was historically a RHD belonging to a forces guy in Germany - when it came over to the UK, the dealers forgot to change one of the headlamps over to the UK spec therefore it was throwing the beam over to the right and I failed an MOT as a result. I saw these on Super Skoda but realised they were European spec.

I don't think they are Super Skoda products, the only headlamps with the black inserts on their site are the type with the integral Audi style DRL's and a xeon version currently under production!

There was a thread on here a while back that related to tinted lenses on a race blue vRS - can't seem to find it now but what's the difference ?

Very nice!

That does look very good!

Brimma's aren't tinted lenses, the difference is, the insides are black instead of chrome, which for me makes the car look much better, to that end I am currently rummaging the loft for carp I can sell on flebay to the tune of approx' 160 quid....... :giggle:

They look the business. B)

I haven't looked closely at mine-I'm assuming you can't do a "split & paint" job like is possible on the Fabia? :wonder:

I have thought about that myself, and just missed out on a single 2nd hand headlamp for 15 quid to experiment on!

Pagey, I've got a used European spec headlamp in my garage which you can have for the P&P costs if you want something to experiement on. Parcel Monkey could be used to pick it up - if you are interested, I can give you the dimensions and weight of the box so that you can get a quote on their website.

Go for it Pagey!!

Then let me know how you got on. :p I'm in Ireland, otherwise I'd try it-carriage will be pants.

Cheers Muckipup!!

Saw these on the car yesterday, they do look the dogs cogs.

That sounds like a plan, I have used parcel2go previously and they are very reasonable. If you can PM me with the details, I'll get on it.

 believe it or not, that isn't a spelling mistake........its the word some of us use instead of cr@p, as any form of swearing will be in breach of the forum t&c's.
