Yeti spotting - result!

Featured Replies

Got a headlight flash from a White one heading anti clockwise on the elevated M60 section in Stockport this morning. I did wave but perhaps not quickly enough for you to see?!

It was me, I did see you wave TimR :)

Looks great in white by the way!

Thanks, this weather though it doesn't stay white for long it goes black, I bet your dark blue goes white with the salt.

Contrasting experiences on our way over to North Wales on Friday.

Pulled in to Corley M6 services and saw an 11 plate cappuccino SE Yeti in the car park - we left at about the same time - I attempted a smile/wave at the driver as we were pulling out of the car park, but it appeared to have Victor Meldrew behind the wheel, complete with flat cap - and I got a 'what the hell are you looking at ?' glance in return. We travelled in convoy up the M6 toll road, before we left to join the M54 at junction T8.

Better experience later in the afternoon - coming into Corwen on the A5 saw a dark blue Yeti coming the other way, and got a flash of lights and cheery wave - much better !.

Aoprt from these 2 sightings, nothing all weekend or on the way back.

Spotted a white Yeti this morning near Morrisons, St.Albans and recieved a friendly wave from the lady driver. Not sure of the model but it had personalised plates ending in YET.

Aaarrgh!

A dark blue Yeti pulled onto the drive of one of my neighbours this morning, lady driver got out just as I was walking past. I said I'd got one too and asked what she thought of it.

"It's a car" she said - "they're just for getting around"!!!! :'(

Oh dear I thought.... but it gets better.....

"I have to have a 4x4 for taking the kits to school and things" she said, "the kids insisted as all the other mums have 4x4's and they are so much safer if you have an accident" !!!!! :S

Still not the best bit....... read on.....

"But it's a 2wd I said, not a 4x4".

"WHAT?" she exclaimed loudly..... "it's not a 4x4?"

"No" said I "they make them in both 2 and 4 wheel drive, and yours is a 2wd".

"OMG" she responded "I'm going to have to go back to the garage as soon as they re-open after Christmas as I specifically told them I must have a 4x4".

"Are you ever going to go off-road?" I asked, trying not to smile too much.

"Of course" was the reply, "I have to park on the verge near the school every day".

"No, I mean really off road, like fields and unmade tracks" I asked not believing what I was hearing.

"Absolutely not" came the response "that would get it dirty. No, I must have a 4x4 to protect the children if I have a crash - everyone knows they are so much better in an accident". :giggle: :giggle:

"But they both have exactly the same bodywork to protect you in an accident" I said.

"Rubbish" came the totally genuine reply, "only 4x4's are safe for children to ride in".

I gave up & walked off!

So, fellow snow monster drivers, our prized possessions have now reached the notice of people who haven't got a clue what they've got and it's becoming a fashion statement!! Heaven help us!!

Merry Christmas folks!

You should have directed her to a bmw showroom!

Whilst out on my bike yesterday, I saw 3 Yeti's in an upmarket second hand car dealers lot in Bramham. which surprised me. This dealer specialises in 3 and 4 year old mercs, audis bmw's etc.

All seemed to be 110bhp 4x4 diesels and 11 reg.

One was an elegance in Black, I think at £19,995, the other 2 seemed to be SE's at £16995 from memory in Mettallic gey.

I would have expected most second hand Yeti's to still be sold by main dealers so far?

Merry Christmas folks!

Absolutely bloody priceless!! :giggle:

I've just got back from spending Xmas down in Norfolk. Lost count of the number of Yetis I saw on the journey to and fro, but Blakeney, a lovely village on the North Norfolk Coast, seems to have become a Yeti gathering place ... over the course of the week I saw six in various shades.

The Bramham outfit has been selling Monsters for a long time; many of their stock appears to have originated from the DM Keith empire :S the SE's are high mileage 110 4x4, the black magic is a low miles 1.8 with velux roof.

Was that your tangerine yeti parked in the Watford town hall car park this afternoon?

I've driven to Rugby and back today, and didn't spot any!!

A white example pulled out of the Westwood roundabout in Broadstairs earlier, to far ahead to flash or wave

Two spotted today within 5 miniutes of each other near saint helens roundabout M58 first was silver on a 11 reg second was dark blue 60 reg. I flashed both like mad ha ha.....

Did you catch crabs? :D

Did you catch crabs? :D

No, wrong season, pulled a few mussels though :giggle:

My first 'flash' as a Yeti owner to a fellow Yeti driver. Almost a mirror image of our car going in the opposite direction on the Keswick to Ambleside road when we were heading for Ambleside this afternoon.

On the way back met another Candy White Yeti (or maybe the same one) - also passed a blue one heading in the direction of Windemere.

  • 2 weeks later...

Oh forget to say, passed another Yeti going the other way this morning just after 8 on the outskirts of Beverley; got a wave but was to slow in waving back, so apologies to whoever if your on the forum.
