Is Yeti mania common among older males?

Featured Replies

My non existant, not yet ordered Yeti has become obsessive (come on sunroof) and as it looks like I am packing in work at the end of June at just short of 59 joining your club.

I will still be Yetiless but hopefully panting in anticipation of its arrival before the winter snows ;)

Not retired yet, still some time to go at 49, but if I was retiring I think the Yeti would be pretty much be top of my list. It just ticks more boxes than any other car I can think of. VW build quality, go anywhere, do anything, economical, ultra-practical, fun to drive, etc. etc. I am most happy with mine and would certainly consider replacing it with another one when the time comes.

65 here and very active Mountain biker - my about to be delivered Yeti will be a perfect companion

62 next Sptember and more or less retired but still working occasionally. Trying not to become Victor Meldrew, not always successfully, as some of my posts must reveal - no doubt the imminent arrival (?) of my SM will spread sweetness and light in my life.

66 here - definitely retired but active !!

At 48 and counting, without a young family anymore, I hardly fit Skoda's profile. I did wonder recently if there were any buyers in their profile - young families, and still wonder as many people are saying that they can fit their grandkids push chair in the back.emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Is there anyone out there who has a young family, fit for a small family hatchback (i.e a snow monster)emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Aged 41, would love to retire now, but will have work some more...

I too, await the sunroof before ordering.

The Yeti is what I imagine to be most-car to most-drivers: affordable, easy to get in/out, easy to park, reliable, economical, Euro NCAP 5 star safety, 4WD safety & transportability, great semi-automatic transmisson and all with acceptable comfort.

From teenagers to the middle aged to granny and grandpa, there is an attractive feature combined with a cheeky characterful name: Yeti.

62, part-timer, old fart, observer of life, lover of Yeti, guitar-wielding singist, - er, anything else.

And a word for Dave Carter - if you're gonna replace yer Yeti wiv annuva Yeti (cool-speak, see?) - you'd better order it now to stand a chance of getting it.

Oh - and the exercise I take? - I jump to conclusions!!

44 male - would rather like to retire but lifestyle / mortgage / wife prohibit that just yet. I am exploring my "inner Victor Meldrew" in anticipation though...

Retired at 51...felt it was my duty to move aside and make room for a younger one to take my place :D . And work is the curse of the drinking classes, as we all know. Wouldn't describe myself as Yetimaniacal as we speak, but then I don't actually have one and haven't even driven one.

Having ordered a two wheel drive just before the 'winter' set in, I do wonder whether I should have got a 4x4 having seen about nine inches of the white stuff round our way. Didn't really want to get inolved in DPF's and DMF's ...or even DMU's and DPC's :giggle: But I haven't, so there. I've started to look at Suzuki Jimnys....don't take up much space on the front and would be a bonus in the winter in the lanes and moorland back roads...at the moment I'm frightened witless when I see a deep puddle, this due mainly due to a previous 'incident' involving two feet of water and a hydraulicked engine and a bill for over two grand! :'( Slight absence of good judgement and commom sense on that occasion.............well a bit more than slight, actually!

We'll see what happens..

I can get a 9 ft fly rod ready to go in it so I'm happy! Best fishing car ever! B)

And I'm only 55 - semi-retired / lazy / self employed

69, retired, trying to keep fit with lots of dog-walking after a major health scare 2 years ago. Was a biker for most of my life, owning numerous models from the 1950's including a Velocette Venom, Tiger 110 etc., ending up with a 1978 BMW R100(the last model with real spokes if I remember correctly). Our Yeti(Jessica) is by far the best all round car I've had, still smile every time I drive her, and still can't believe it's only a 1.2, it drives so smoothly and is fast enough for us and economical too. We both love it.

Maybe we should have a competition for the oldest Yeti owner, never thought I'd reach the stage when the dreaded 70th birthday expiry date on my licence was looming!

I'm self employed as well. Work providers keep on sending me work, which gets in the way of play. I guess I'd better do it as the mortgage needs paying.......

I'm 56 and giving up full time work very shortly. Might go back very part time later in the year in the meantime have lots to do- have new Yeti to drive about

Andy

I must be one of the youngest Yeti owners then. Always liked to choose 'different' cars! I'm 33 years old. :-)

Don't worry , we had to have DSG for medical reasons, and only had the 1.2 available with it at the time. We have not regretted it, I put the winter tyres on just at the start of the really bad weather, and they transformed the car, going through several inches of snow, ice and slush with no problems on our hills, we were amazed how good it was. We do a lot of short trips, and find the petrol engine warms up much quicker than our old 1.6 Golf diesel, and on reflection is perfect for our type of use, but not everybody's of course.

I'm 50 and retired last year having done my 30 years in the Police, and I think my Yeti is great (although it does lack some boot space)

you lot make me feel quite young at just 50.

not retired yet but hoping to by 55 ?? if they don't rob any more from my pension pot ??

mobility problems mean i needed a tall car with a big boot.

i've found a corker in the yeti.

45, not retired mainly because of mortgage, the Yeti ticked all the boxes, was the right price, the right performance and the right build quality.

58 this year. Semi retired in 2003 when we moved here to run a small shop but due to the economics had to find a job just over 3 years ago, so now pull levers and ring bells as a signalman, which I can see me doing for a long time to come...........SWMBO likes the money!!

Another one here; the Wife's 32 (it's technically her car) and I'm 36.

I think the Yeti has a general appeal - I have two friends with new babies who both have their eye on a Yeti and my Dad has already decided it's his next car.

My wife and I are both 36.

As you say, it spreads. My Mum already wants a Yeti next. She really likes ours.

23 here....

33 as well, so there are younger drivers, for me it seemed the best value 4x4 to cope with the severe weather we get here, although if I had more dosh I'd have a Land Rover but Yeti is perfect for me and does what it says on the tin.
