  • If you read down the thread "Anyway, the recall is to INSPECT the coil packs and POSSIBLY replace them on VW and Audi. Plus if Seat take this recall on, it wont be for ages. As there will be over a 1

i'm booked in on tues and my local dealer reckons it will take an hour and a half :S if they just give me the coils i could do it in under 15 mins i'm sure

Nope, I asked and they said they would simply clear and fault codes that may have appeared due to the coilpack misfire issue.

Give Alex Lawrie a bell, theyre decent guys.

cool, just been out and checked and i got 2D,1L and 1H so its clearly had issues somewhere down the line,

il bell them monday if there open

Im guessing then theyll replace 2?

hope so

Does this only affect the vRS? or are other 1.8t's included, wouldn't mind a free set :giggle:

Was going to ask the same thing. Think I will be calling the dealer on tuesday and see what they say.

I'll be calling too lol, got a lot of history when i bought the car and 3 receipts for coil packs so need to check whats in it now.

No harm in trying though, worst they can say is no

May as well check em first. Might save you a journey if they are all the current ones.

I have come across a couple of seat ones that had melted and shorted inside which blew one of the engine control fuses so instead of a missfire the car just cut out completly (both cars were AA'd to me when a fuse would have fixed it lol)

so maybe this is why they are doing the recall?

bugger its like 35 miles to my nearest proper dealer too so I better check mine first

I have just e-mailed my local dealer to see if my car is covered, I'll update if/when I get a reply.

Can't believe how many people have risen to the recall lol.

I'm boooked in on tuesday, so byt the look of it will be getting 4 rev D's FOC. Woop!

And to the guy who asked about the N revision, YES it will be changed. The only ones they will leave in are R and D. And I can't see why it is only the vRS - Most other 1.8T engines should be covered too, unless they are really old and / or have bolt down coilpacks.

From the info I have found, there are 11 revisions in the push down type - A, G, H, J, L, M, N, P, Q, R and D. I'm not sure if all the revisions were used in the UK, but hey!

Has anyone noticed a difference after getting them changed?

Not me as Id already bought 4 from Awesome GTI!

lol, of course!

Put it this way, did you notice a difference going from your old L's to the new ones?

Did they let you keep the old ones? :giggle:

Will they replace them all if you have 3 genuine L ones and 1 non gen, knew i should have kept that dam blown coilpack

They will probably replace the 3 version L's, but probably won't touch the non gen one.

If you ask them, they will probably replace it, but charge you for one.

just checked mine and I have 1-R, 1-N, and 2-L's one of which was sat about an inch higher than the others! pushed it back down.

would/should this cause rough running or a loss in power as my car has been running fine.

Probably will have done, as the spark would have had to arc from the pack to the plug, so would lose some energy there. Make sure the spark plugs are done up properly, maybe even take them out and clean the seats on them, make sure there is no dirt or grit stopping it making a good seal.

If all else fails, you can cut a slit in the rubber to allow air pressure to escape, or put the packs in when the engine is hot.

Skoda should replace both the L's and the N for you I would have thought.

Yeah what i thought, think i might do that then i have a spare to keep in car if another ever goes down

or use a small bit of electrical grease on the connection - this should help too

I just looked at the coil pack closest to the cambelt, and mine is a:

06B 905 115 N

On a 2005 MK1 vRS.

Same here just checked No: 1......06B 905 115 N , also 05' reg as well. Last year I bought 2 spares and they were both rev D.

I will be phoning dealer tomorow.

I was just curious as my car to me was driving fine, no rough running or powerloss etc, only noticed one had popped up because i was checking them for the revision letter

I'm going to miss out on this replaced mine 18 months ago with 'R' versionemoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif

I did, only as one of the L ones was starting to go wonky under load. Its not like they gave me a magic spark and 20 more bhp, just worked :)

If you kept the old ones as spares, fit those and get a free set for safe keeping.

When you call up for the recall all they want is your reg. then they will tell you if it is being done,Mine had 2 new ones init and they replaced all of them and gave me the 2 new ones as spares.... The recall is based on the reg and car not the numbers on the coil packs,That is what the service manger said to me..
