Bleeding hard work but doors all on

Couple of small niggles, interior light no longer works off the drivers door. Think it's the catch, of course I have a spare off my old door but the pain is the drivers door wasn't the original door off the 03 plate donor as the regulator is rivited on and the other three were bolted, plus the door was originally black. Also the n/s/r exterior handle seems loose, as before got loads of spares just need to strip the door down but fitting them and swapping over the components on the front was enough for one afternoon.

Love it Ross. Looks really good on those wheels/trims

It was custom made.......by me

you need to heat the units with a heat gun/hair dryer until the glue gives up and the clear section separates from the main bit.

the insert then comes out and youcan spray it with whatever spray paint you like.

once dry, put the insert back in, reheat/add new glue and stick back together.

very interesting thread, you have the patients of a saint and you enjoy doing what your doing, keep up the good work, :thumbup:B) awesome fella.

Probably after my wedding next year now. A lot is ready to go but I want to do it right and not just slap it in.

Good call. :)

Is this going to continue with the new job?

The vents pop out using a plastic trim tool. There are clips top and bottom.

Great thread, I do have a few questions tho,

Are the Drive shafts standard across all of the models? or are they different lengths to compensate different size gearboxes?

Are you going to use the standard 1.8T engine mounts from an Ibizia Cupra?

  • Author

Driveshafts are different. There are different thicknesses and different sized CV joints on the gearbox end.

I have mk4 Ibiza engine mountings and a modified Ibiza/Octavia mounting on the gearbox. A Roomster dog bone mounting at the bottom as I had one spare.

Are they the same size spline? or do you need to get new Hubs to compensate for the different diameter drive shafts?

New job? Spotted you on the way home today, you must have had blinkers on lol.

If it was to go up for sale as is would anyone be interested?

Huge spec chassis wise, lots of mods just standard engine wise. But she runs as sweet as a nut.

haha well I plan to start doing this next year (going 1.8T) so it would depend on whether you would be selling up the engine+gearbox separate to the car :)

  • Author

If the offer is right I would sell it with the engine all the bits.

It's just an idea at the moment, I certainly don't want to. But may have to.

Tidy looking unit! Not for long I reckon :p

Looking great Tech1e!

Excellent work. That's a lovely looking unit you got there. Good job you didn't sell up, I'd love to see this completed :)

Glad to see this kicking off again.
