Order Times, Build Times, Delays, The Skoda Black Hole Ordering System

Featured Replies

Hi Guys have just looked at only 2 pages and I can see the problem Skoda has with waiting lists.Everybody wants a VRS car or one with DSG controls. Have just seen an advert for Skoda cars here in Dublin, and the garage has 20,repeat 20 Skoda cars for IMMEDIATE DELIVERY, ranging from 3 Octavia all 1.2Tsi 105BHP and 7 more diesel 3@ 2.0ltr 140BHP and 4 1.6 105BHP. Also 4 Yeti, one Greenline 1.6.Two 2 ltr also. They also have 4 Fabia, one 1.2 HTP 70BHP,Two 85BHP and one Elegance 1.2 with Park sensors and Ivory upholstery.O' and also Surperb Saloon Diesel 1.6 Elegance.

It appears the problems with the waiting lists are the Spec people are wanting. Everybody wants the upper specs and not the standard ones.Come on over plenty of Skoda cars over here.

But don't Irish cars cost a million euros each or something?

Fabia vRS Estate

Candy White, Dark Chrome Gigaro's, Cubby Boxes, Electric Rear Windows

Ordered 26/3/2011 (Week 12)

Confirmed Build 16/5/2011 (Week 20)! :)

One happy chap! Funny enough my parents Yeti was ordered on the same day, same dealer and has been confirmed for week 20 too so both cars may arrive same time!

Ordered 26/3/2011 (Week 12)

Confirmed Build 16/5/2011 (Week 20)! :)

Was patiently waiting for them to call me but as you ordered a week after me I think I might put a call in tomorrow. :p

*UPDATE*

I've just had a long chat on the phone with the franchise manager at Lookers Stockport as I had a few queries when they rang.

I metioned the MY12 coming in from week 22 shortly and the black pack being fitted on all orders built after that date. He categorically stated that whatever the model was when you ordered it; that is what you get - even if its built, say, week 25, 26 onward etc.

Although he did say the dealership would be looking at fitting it for customers. This is a complete contradiction to what a lot of you have been told regarding the black pack? So now I don't know who to believe. He was a very genuine and knowledgeable sounding person so I have no reason to doubt him. This obviously causes me issues with the sat nav too now as it could be the old 6 digit jobby :S

Ordered my 1.2 tsi 105 elegance with a couple of options on 26/03/11. Called my dealer today for the first time and advised that my car is being built this week.

Please note I didn't order dsg or Skoda sat nav.

Fabia vRS ordered early January - last I heard build wk 20 so maybe mid June delivery.

Last few weeks I've become really grumpy about the long wait and have a few issues with Skoda -

1. When I ordered I was told about 12 weeks delivery. Stongly suspect this was just pie in the sky to get an order. But hey ho these things happen and they will have to honour my px price and stand a major service on my trade in.

2. My build week seems to have jumped around all over the place. What I can't understand is that many people have now taken delivery of cars with similar spec to mine despite ordering weeks if not months after me. Skoda's production schedule appears to involve some kind of lottery,or perhaps drawing straws from a hat - bizarre is the only word I can think of.

3. Had a look round a Monte Carlo whilst at the dealers the other week. Nice car, but I just can't help thinking that the Monte Carlo's now rolling down the line are effectively taking production slots away from people who placed orders well before the Monte was even announced and are still waiting.

Rant over, feeling a bit better now.

Ordered 1.6CRTDi 105 elegance estate with some extras in late January - had a delay getting a build week but it's now "in transit from factory" - probably another 4 weeks wait... but getting there ;)

Ordered White Monte Carlo 1.2 105 16-03-2011

Maxi-Dot

Climate

Cruise

Front Armrest

Storage boxes

Spare wheel

Red Seats

Dealer just contacted me to say it will be with them end of next week.

So it seems that non dsg models are sticking to less than 12 weeks at the moment.

My car is finally in the country - I pick it up next Saturday. Ordered on 2/12/10 so that will be 24 weeks from order to delivery. I did order extras that maybe caused the delay (see below). Still upset that you are not really kept in the loop by Skoda. They really will have to address our customer concerns by being more informative/considerate. (Car is Elegance estate CR 105PS - main extras - ESP+, Amundsen, Spare wheel, factory fit tow bar, Anthracite metallic, cornering fogs, headlight washers, MFSW, Elba alloys, MDI and storage boxes).

lucky u :(

I ordered 20.10.2010, build week-8 - then 14.. now I dont have a build-week! and no answers from skoda..

Tomorrow I have waited exactly 30 weeks for the damn car to be build.. Anyone know what they are doing in that skoda factory? exept from smoking grass.. do they make any cars at all?

Hello all,

New member here. I have been following the forums with interest particularly with regards to waiting times.

I had a VRS ordered as a company car on 18/3/11 with the following colour and options;

Candy White with Black Magic roof

Black alloys

Amundsen Sat Nav

Bluetooth

Cruise Control

Arm rest

As of yet I have not been allocated a build week (well according to track my Skoda).

I know there have been various theories about different options holding up the build times but from what I have read this isn't necessarily true.

The only possible thing I can think of is down to the colour I have chosen.

Does anyone agree or diagree with this?

Just e-mailed the dealer asking for an update on my order: Black VRS ordered 23 Feb 11; herewith the reply:

"Unfortunately we have no further news. The order is still awaiting build confirmation. I know this is not really ideal, but we are totally reliant on Skoda here. As a Dealership there is nothing further we can do apart from wait.

However we can confirm that the car will be a model year 12 vehicle, which means it will get the black gloss front grille and smoked headlamps."

I know that patience is a virtue but this is doing my head in! :wall:

I ordered my vRS mid march, at the time i was told by the dealer the worst case scenario was 12 weeks. I've been i constant contact with the dealership, in which time i saw my build week go week 20 then 26 then 24, i rang them today to be told it now doesnt have a build week! but they said it will def be a 2012 car. my other gripe is the cable for the MDI port, my dealer said i had to purchase one but the brochure does say mdi AND cable. Has anyone else had the problem?

just show him the brochure, problem solved

There is an entire thread devoted to MDI cables.

There is indeed a whole thread dedicated to the MDI cable issue, as the poster above states. It clearly says in the brochure that you get a cable with the car, with the caveat that it is supplied by the dealer, allowing you to choose which cable you need (USB / Apple / mini-USB etc). If you get any resistance from the dealer on this issue then there is a Skoda bulletin you can quote at them, although I don't have the number of it to hand.

Dealer phoned me today just to update me on what was happening. Haven't spoken to them since I ordered 22nd April. She said she's expecting to build week to be about week 32 so second week in August then anouter 2 or 3 week for it to be delivered. This suits me since I want it for September 1st. Confirmed with them that the gloss black roof rails come standard on the estate and I cancelled my roof bars since my ones for the Mk1 can be adapted. I just need different feet from Thule.

 and you took the sink, hook and bait.. and swallowed...

sorry, but... guess she forgot to inform u that after week 32 she will call u again to inform u that the car is "delayed" 5 weeks..

and after that she wont call u for a cupple of months becouse then the car have walked the line to the black hole...

lucky if u get the car before september 2012 or september 2014..

Sorry? Don't you mean hook, line and sinker? Don't get how that's relevant anyway. All I've done is say what I've been told by the dealer. They did say that the vRS has been a bit delayed, as with everything else but I expected this and knew this when I ordered.

As long as it's after September 1st I'm not too bothered. It's something that's out of my hands so it's pointless worrying about it. Not sure how long people have been waiting for cars though. I did hear that Yeti's are at least 6 months and some Audi's are up to a year.

My parents Yeti is being built this week, same as my vRS - both ordered on the same day! How lucky is that! :) Just got to hope they deliver them at the same time!
