Order Times, Build Times, Delays, The Skoda Black Hole Ordering System

Featured Replies

Ordered my Fabia 1.2tsi estate on 6th September 2011. Today was told a provisional build date of week 11. Looking like 7 months from order to collection... I thought they were improving? :(

It gets worse. My build week has slipped back to week 18! Looking at NINE MONTHS from order to delivery. You can make a person in that time!!

I've just opened a case with Skoda UK. Spoke to Craig... seems a good guy.

When I first considered buying a Skoda (my first Skoda)my research into horror story nine month waits mentioned on this list nearly put me off a purchase. So just to even up the story; I paid a deposit on a Fabia Estate Greenline II on 16th January 2012 and I've been told car will be in garage by mid February - although I'm going to hold off for the March plate. Probably helped having no additional factory fits. Having written this of course I'll probably get an apologetic email from the dealer tomorrow listing a half dozen reasons why the order cannot be fulfilled until August 2013!

Made a casual enquiry about a Vrs and was told about 18 weeks delivery......too long for me!!! Following day the salesman rings me back to say they have an unallocated one being built next week and they could change the colour and spec if required, expected in the dealership late March. Went on the car configuring gizmo and found that the price would be £18.5K!!!!! :o

Had a search round and found a 10 month old ex Skoda car, exact colour and spec I want, with 3k miles for £13k. Banged a deposit on it today......

Pick up a white rs estate ordered october 2011,at showroom now and handover 14 th F ebruary ,

I've ordered my Fabia vRS hatch today, be interested to see how long the wait is! Not in any rush who am I kidding - can't wait now!

9 months lol ;)

9 months lol ;)

Oh probably!

Oh probably!

Give or take a couple of months, it's the DSG unit the lack of I think ( or they want replacement dsg for the vrs already built and broken lol ) ;)

Judging by all the threads I've read I'm beginning to wonder how long it will take to get a new car. Bascially, I wonder if it's all connected with you guys living in the UK and wanting RHD models or if it's because of shortages of tsi or diesel engines. I know they're used in VW, Seat and Audi too of course. I live in Poland and need and of course want a new Fabia by the end of the year. I wonder when I should do the test drive and place the order..I'm getting worried now!! I think that over here the cars come from the Czech Republic, are LHD and don't have to travel too far.

And of course there's such a debate about whether to get a tsi or a diesel. such a dilemma...I mean, the diesel threads suggest that you really have to run it in and look after the engine/car whilst the tsi is less problematic. So my questions are

Which is more 'reliable' in the long run..diesel or petrol?

what kind of journeys do I need to do to warm up the diesel 1.6 tdi?

Will I kill the engine for ever if I do a lot of city motoring? Long journeys will only be to the UK..unless I go on holiday across Poland or go to the Czech Republic..

Is the diesel really that noisy?

Does it really have that much torque? I've driven pd1.9tdi Octavia and latest 110bhp 2.0.

So for sure I'll test drive both! TSI sounds nice, quiet, tractable and punchy and economical.

I love driving diesels, though and am worried about DPF issues and costly servicing, repairs, things going wrong etc

Anyway, that's just a few thoughts I wanted to share...

Last thought..I wouldn't mind a fabia hatch in black with a white roof....does anyone think that's a bit...effeminate? I think it looks ok with the comet alloys..

If you do short journeys buy the TSI. If you do long journeys buy the Diesel.

However, if you test drive both and prefer the drive of one to the other you have your answer! :)

I went for the vRS over the 1.6 CR Elegance Estate and glad I did, extra performance and the noise :D The diesel would give me and extra 10mpg per journey if driven the same as my vRS. Maybe more on longer journeys...

hey pepes, newbie here, hope i'm replying in the right place !! just to say that i'm not a happy bunny right now on this subject, ordered a fabia vrs estate in black with black wheels in dec and given a likely delivery date of the end of march only now to told this will at least may or june, very disappointed, hate waiting for things but i guess i'll have to as i really love the car and wont be cancelling the order, never had to wait like before for any other vehicle, currently driving a nice looking (but v slow) 2.0d volvo v70 r-design in black.

Ordered a Scout today - been told minimum 12 weeks, possibly 16! Hmmm....we'll see!

How long should it take to get a build week/date??

Thanks!

Monte, you should get one soon after the factory accepts the order, but it will change. Mine went from 50 to 2 to 16 to 18. It won't be confirmed until MUCH nearer the time. I ordered over 6 months ago and still don't have a confirmed build week.

That is not good! What have you ordered? Don't understand why the dealers would even bother leading customers down that path. You could argue that people wouldn't order if they knew how long it would take. But on the other hand why would they p1ss people off by giving them misleading information.

Order times..... the bain of my life right now :wall:

In what sense, what are the real wait times?

It varies from dealer to dealer and I can only comment on our dealership.

What have you ordered?

Monte Carlo 1.6 TDI 105 in Grey. Ordered a month ago. No build date.

It can take a few weeks or so for the order to be confirmed within the factory system, then provisional build dates will follow.

Approximately 2 weeks prior to build will the order be confirmed, BUT 4 weeks prior to build no changes can be made (colour, spec etc.)

Hope all goes well, the wait will be worth it.

Was informed of a 20 week wait for 1.2 105bhp last week but happened to get the last one in mandatory stock in red so only a two week wait

Got my mom to order a monte carlo in white today. Will be here in 2-3 weeks as its already built and waiting in germany. There was two white monte's in germany ready for shipment at the the port, both are now sold, next availability is about june/july. Cant believe there is a waiting list to get one, and everyone thinks skodas are un-popular!!

You should be OK. It's the DSG box that's the killer.

I just got an update. Mine's teetering on W16, though yet to be properly confirmed. 8 1/2 months. Who'd have thunk it?

It gets worse. Mine's slipped a further 4 weeks.

Ordered Allams 6th September.

Provisional build week 20 now.

Looking at 9 1/2 months. Fuming.

Ordered a Fabia Greenline 2 on the 20th Jan 2012 - it arrived on the 19th March 2012.

Options included were: floor mats; 3rd head rest; protective side mouldings; sunset glass; curtain airbags; parking sensors; climate control; maxi dot trip computer.
