Order Times, Build Times, Delays, The Skoda Black Hole Ordering System

Is this just a Skoda thing or is commonplace when you get a new car? I'm beginning to wonder if someone like Watchdog should know?

Ordered a Monte 105 in red with a few factory extras at the end of Feb this year.... was told delivery would be end of May at the earliest.

However, got a call a week ago telling me it was ready and picked it up on Sunday.

Relieved that it came so soon after reading the delay stories on here...stick with it chaps it's worth it once you get behind the wheel !

I actually saw my first real live one on the road this morning, things must be looking up!

3 weeks wait for my monte as the dealer already had a few on order but I wanted to add options like maxi dot etc and was told 5-6 months, surely the fabia monte carlo will be a rare car because people probably cba to wait..

EEK!

Just put on order (Company car) a vRS Estate + parking sensors....I'm now dreading when it might come! Ah well - waited 4 months for the Scirocco so should be used to it.

Phil: I expect you'll get a 13 plate.

Ye gods....

Nah, 63 plate

Now you're taking the urine.....

...aren't you?

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if it was, as per my sig, I ordered my vRS end of Feb, but I'm still to get any update, build date (not that they are reliable) and reading some of the other horror stories it seems there could be a fair old backlog.

I'd gladly like to be proved wrong however!

8 months to the day today, and no build date to even futilely aim at.

So... this morning I test drove a '61 Octy VRS estate instead. Final details being hammered out over the BH weekend.

I ordered a 1.6TDI manual elegance hatch on 16th March, est. delivery is currently mid August.

As I previously submitted I cancelled my vrs estate order 4 weeks ago when skoda told me maybe June/july having ordered in Dec, I ordered a 3 series coupe instead, pick it up next week, 4 weeks from order through to build and delivery, can't believe it after the skoda experience, still gonna stay a member tho as looking to get a fabia 4 the missus.

Not Fair!!! I ordered mine mid Feb, 105 Diesel with a few extras and still have no build date but have been told it will be here in July!

Can't understand that at all. My dealer has told me there is something called a 2013 revision being done and this is why it's going to be late???

monte: That tallies with what I was told. All the pending stock had lost its build weeks, and had been replaced with MY13.

Whether this means just a fortnight's delay or additional months, no one knew. It was at this point I gave up. 8 months and seemingly no closer. There is a massive communications problem between the factory and SUK, the importer.

I pick my Octavia VRS estate tomorrow instead.

Hi guys

We have just ordered a Fabia Elegance estate 1.6 tdi. I can’t remember if the dealer said it was part way through production or it was built. Was told it has a sunroof, part leather trim, and a spare wheel over the standard trim. We are having parking sensors added when it gets to the dealers as its to late to add the in the factory, so by this I think it must have been built.

My question is, the dealer told us it would be here in about 3 weeks. Is this realistic?

So.....If people are fed up with waiting, are used car prices very very good?

I've decided to give up, if I'd ordered a new Golf when I ordered the Fabia it would be delivered this week, so not impressed with what is isn't going on. I contacted Skoda UK CS, and after getting an email saying we'll get back to you in 48hours, I got a response, albeit well after the 48hours, saying that my build week was scheduled for 4th June, but that hadn't been confirmed by factory. So given that build weeks are about as reliable as British Rail, I thought I'd give up and go with my original plan than hope that build week stayed true and delivery would be 3 weeks after that.

Hi,

As a further update to my saga on delay order. Today I was informed by my dealer that I have now been allocated build week of 28 which is begining of July (having ordered Dec 11). I am not holding my breath and will wait to see what Skoda UK CS tell me on there next call on 6 June. Seemingly dealer states that factory allocated 10 which does not become confirmed until allocated 20.!!! Confusing or what.

Anybody got further build dates?

Ray

Shock horror a call from the dealer this week - I have a build week. - Week 24 - which I think is 11th June onwards. So .. with a fair wind and a following breeze should be delivered mid July.

Ordered on November 29th 2011 so that will be about a 33 weeks.

I am presuming a Skoda week 24 is the same as everyone else's and about four weeks from build to delivery - would that be about right?

Does anyone know if Skoda's production weeks are aligned to the usual 52 weeks of the year calendar ,meaning that week 1 is the first week of January and so on?

I have a build week of wk 33 which my Skoda dealer is now telling me is 9th July. This feels like I'm being spun a load of rubbish as in real terms, this is week 34 in anyone else's calendar and would mean that Skoda start their year mid November!

Anyone else smell bull excrement  ?

We ordered a 1.6tdi fabia elegance with quite a few options in Dec 2011. Still no build date!

Well thought I would call Skoda UK yesterday instead of checking through the dealership. Thinking I would get the same answers are they had been giving me. How wrong could I be, wait for it.......... this is what they said "Build Week 36 sometime in September, is that ok?"

Er, no it's not f***in* ok!!!! Well I didn't say that but wasn't far off.

Ordered Mid Feb, estimated April, then no build date still in April so i'm told it's due to my options, then it's def JULY because it's going to be the 2013 year model (whatever that means). Now September but that may also slip.

It's not being "investigated" and someone will get back to me within 72 hours. I don't know what to do now.

We ordered a 1.6tdi fabia elegance with quite a few options in Dec 2011. Still no build date!

What options if you don't mind me asking and which engine, 75, 90 or 105? We have the same on order in 105 and they think it should be August~ish.

Well my time here is going to be short lived. I cancelled my order yesterday, sick of the crappy communications and excuses. Too be honest I would never recommend anyone buying from them.

After the investigation they told me the build week would be 36 and I would get it in September, but I can ignore that and should probably get it mid August...... So I replied well you can keep it until 1st September then for the new reg, and they said "oh no we can't delay the car, you would have to have it when it arrives". To which I said you can cancel it then.

They then offered me £300 M&S vouchers. F**k O**.

End of, deposit back and time to choose another car.

Good luck to all those waiting!
