  • Yep, that's pretty much what the previous 769 posts alluded to too Glad you got it sorted, it's just a shame you hadn't seen this thread earlier and avoided a breakdown on the motorway. I wonder ho

From VOSA:

==========

To answer your question. Yes VOSA are still in talks with the VW Group.

They currently have in place a process with their Customer care teams where

they will replace all 4 injectors and the loom free of charge for any

customers who are concerned about this issue.

==========

It says "concerned" about the issue, nobody on the Audi forum has been turned down for a pre-failure swap, mainly because they tell the dealers they're well versed on the topic and are not going to be fobbed off because Audi want to save a few pennies...

Well as I expected the diagnostics showed no fault. The guy at the dealers said he's to report his findings (none?) to skoda customer services. Out of curiousity I was going to wait till Monday or Tuesday to see if I hear back from skoda UK before contacting VOSA, but on reading what jfarhead wrote I might phone CS this afternoon. Getting a bit annoyed lol.

My DPF has clogged up a few times, but as my car is remapped it tends to clog up quicker anyway and has done before the injector replcament

Was is noticeable is the car is smoother, quieter, seem s a bit nippier and is more economical since injector replacement

I have had my injectors replaced for about 4 weeks now and my DPF warning light came on just yesterday, so took it out and gave a good run and the DPF light went out, but my Engine Maanagement light came on aswell after I parked before going out for the run.

I've have cleared the fault and its was fine, however I drove the car to work parked and went to the town centre and parked, when I came back to the car my Engine light was on again! I've clear it again but I have notice that my car has been idling higher than usually and there is a flat spot inacceleration in 3rd gear from 1500rpm to 2500rpm.

Anyone else experience this?

Sounds like your exhaust pressure sensor may need replacing with the updated part

Is that the same things as the DPF sensor?

Yes- very common failure apparently

Thanks for that.

Can I replacement the sensor myself or is it advise that I take it to a dealer to do it?

I'd go to a dealer. Cost me £100 parts and labour to get mine swapped

Went out and DPF lights came on and then the glowplugs flashing and now the car has gone into limp mode!

OK just spoke to a independent VW garage, told him my symptoms and he said that he has done around 5 injectors changes and all have had DPF failure after a few weeks!

This could be a common fault which is directly linked to the injector failure. I will be contacting Skoda UK and informing them of this issue.

If the DPF needs replacing then it could cost around £1200-1500!

I am experiencing the opposite. Had injectors and loom replaced yesterday and it now seems a bit lumpy, like it needs a good clear out. I think perhaps I shall reserve judgement until I've had it on the motorway for a good few spirited miles. I hope Im not one of those to now experience DPF issues because of the change..?

Hi,does anyone know what the dealers are looking for when they scan it?,I have VDCS and nothing comes up on that,all I get is no fault found.Reason Im asking is my cars in on the 21 sept,went down the VOSA route,SUK route and finally dealer route just to try to get them changed pre-emptivly,I know some have got it and some have got fobbed off wish me luck.

Cheers

Trev

Get it down to Ben at 'Shark performance', and get it all taken out & mapped for a 1/4 of that! I did, DPF caused me hell once...not gunna replace it at huge cost only to risk it coming back in the future! :)

Looks like this is another one ,It happened on my sons 07 Seat Leon fr tdi yesterday on the M1 , engine cuts no lights showing on dash , he pulled over safely . restarts OK drives a little further cuts again this time with lights showing on dash . got recovered home . i connected my Shark STS and got the codes 4160 and 8518 which someone else on this thread had so it looks like injector failure .

How do i go about this , do i fill in the VOSA form at the start of this thread or contact Seat uk , once i have him sorted then i will get SUK involved with my Octy as one of my injectors failed earlier this year and was repaired at an indy .

Is the map only for deletion of the dpf or is it for performance aswell?

@deecee

- Fill the form so you're on the system and VOSA can see they issue is still live and well, also so you can get updated from VOSA directly should anything major come to light on the issue, and so it is on record in case you get issues down the line.

- Contact Skoda and arrange ALL INJECTORS AND LOOM to be changed to the new ones.

- Visit the dedicated Facebook page and "like" it to support owners abroad and help them get momemntum to push their agencies to fight their corner on the issue like VOSA is doing in the UK.

Good luck!

I 1st heard about all this when I stumbled accross it whilst forum researching VW Passat PD 140's for a friend. I haven't visited Briskoda for ages but thought I'd see whether it was a discussion point here also.

I'm delighted in some ways that I found out, however I'm also gutted as I've had a Fabia VRS in past, and I'm now driving a mk 1 Octy VRS which I was about to p/x for a 2nd hand mk 2 Octy VRS PD 170 - not any more I'm not. Shame on VAG, I won't buy another one. I loved the Skoda brand, especially VRS, but its ruined now in my view.

It looks like basically now VAG have moved to CR engines they just want to fudge the problem until it dies a natural death as opposed to the massive costs of an entire recall. VOSA obviously toothless. Good luck to all affected by this and I genuinely hope that you receive appropriate compensation in the end.

thnx for the reply , i got in contact with john fitch at vosa and he was mega helpfull, he returned my email within 30 mins , he gave me a contacts at Seat uk and Skoda UK but who is actually the same person and is dealing with this for VAG , his name is Simon Ackroyd , he in turn stated that both my sons Leon FR and my Octy require booking in to thier respective dealers who will change the injectors , he also stated that they will refund me for the injector i have already had replaced and will check that particular one again to make sure its not one of the Siemens batch , so all sounds good so far , i will keep the forum informed as to what happens . OK Facebook here i come

I think thats a bit harsh really. The Octavia vRS PD170 is still a cracking car. I have one and i love it (i did manage to get my injectors changed though so i'm much happier). Its still a lot of bang for your buck and the build quality is very good. I love driving it and it ticks all the boxes for me personally.

If you were to buy from a main dealer maybe they can get approval from Skoda CS to replace the injectors before you buy?

I am starting to lose a little faith in VAG though. I've always had VW's but there seem to be a lot of common problems with them these days.

But when i think about it i'm sure all other brands have their inherent problems as well.

Hi All, :)

Having read all this topic I decided to make some more enquiries about this injector problem. I have contacted VOSA by e-mail and had a reply within hours from John Fitch stating that

"following detailed negotiations between VOSA and the vehicle manufacturer,VW-Audi Group (VAG) has agreed to replace all the injectors originally fitted to these vehicles". :thumbup:

Before I had a reply from VOSA I contacted my local dealer, Startin of Worcester,to see if they knew or had a recall about the problem. The person I spoke to said that they were unaware of any recall or problem. I informed that I had read via this forum that they had indeed carried out at least one repair to a customers car for injector failure. :wall: Still no answers.I then asked for Skoda UK CS and spoke to a lady who also seemed ignorant of any problem. It was only after I mentioned that I will be holding Skoda personally resposible if an accident occured following failure of injector and that I had been in touch with VOSA that she agreed to take more details and enquire more. When she returned I was told to register my vehicle with the local dealer and that Simon Acroyd " who dealt with matters like this" would contact me within 24hrs.

I shall report after the phone call. :wonder:

It seems to me that Skoda are reluctant to admit to any problem but I am determined to cause enough fuss to get my injectors etc replaced FOC as I am not prepared to drive my family around in an accident waiting to happen.

Interesting information from jerbear and onmehead - I agree that all other things considered they're great cars and I'd dearly love one. I might consider the strategy of trying to get injectors replaced before buying. Trouble is of course that it straight away becomes a negotiating point therefore reducing any strength of position (to get a good deal) in the first place as they're already 'doing a favour' - compounded by main dealer prices in the 1st place which always seem to be steep for 2nd hand market.

The other worry of course is that they don't simply replace the parts with new of the same Siemens flawed injectors - surely not but wouldn't surprise me. Does anyone know?

I will check with Simon Acroyd when he rings to see what type of injectors they are replacing them with. Would be a bit pointless if they use the same make to me.Throwing good money after bad. Seemed to remember somewhere amonst this topic what type they use, but so much to look through :S

Only had my car 2 months but very pleased with it so far. Second skoda i've owned, but had lots of VAG group cars before.

The modified injectors are a different part no

They're also a different make I think- continental as opposed to siemens
