Elegance, always on.

i picked my vrs up yesterday from the dealer, and they were switched

OFF

On since Ive had the car. Stopped by the Police once but I did a thread about that a while ago.

1.2 tsi DSG elegance hatch. On

Had to activate mine as they weren't set up by the stealer. Never been flashed yet but to be honest now seeing alot of cars with drls fitted where I live

Mine are now on :-D

Fabia vRS - always on. Been flashed twice, once was accompanied by a tirade of inaudible abuse from an angry man in his Fiesta as we passed on opposite sides of the road. Maybe it was just Skoda envy... :D

Yep , have them on all the time. Other road users do notice you sooner , which has to be a good thing.

Also I can put the car into the garage without turning the lights on :giggle:

DRL's on my Alfa are on. But I think the Christmas Tree lights on the DS3 and some Audi's are a bitt OTT and I must admit to getting a bit p'd off with the knobs who drive around with fog lights on (in perfect conditions ) though :moon:

Is there any way to have them come on on a vrs automatically without turning to sidelights?

If its a new vRS and they dont automatically come on then there is a switch behind the dash under the steering wheel.

There is a thread with all the info you need somewhere

Yeah just pull the panel above your knees whilst sat in drivers seat / switch is by OBD port.

vRS and they are on

Saw my 2nd VRS yesterday. Exactly the colour combo I want but had the dark chrome instead of black wheels. First thing I noticed was the DRL's! Have to have them on, I personally think they look smart, knowing that its not just some **** with his fogs on helps I suppose! haha

Have them enabled on my Passat but that uses main headlights at 88% brightness for DRL's so no isuues with mistaking them as fogs.

When we get the Fabia they will be on too.

Cheers

On - and they're staying on!

When I pick up my GL2 they'll be on. If not set up already, how do I turn them on? I'm sure I saw a thread on here about using some combination of buttons because there was no switch in the glovebox. Anyone got a link to that thread?

When I get my mkII vRS they will be on.....get tired of people pulling out in front of me In My mkI vRS, I think must have a cloaking device on it :giggle:

On.

VRS.

Not been flashed, but the police put up an LED message to turn them off once a few months back. No issues since.

Here is the link for the VRS switch...

reading through this im curious to know what the law is on the use of these things, seems it could be a grey area considering theres an on/off setting

i know the law regarding the use of fogs but what are these lights considered?

personally if i ever get mine they will be on unless im warned otherwise :giggle:

It seems like every day I see more and more 11+ plate cars on the road with DRLS. Increasingly, they are positioned in or around the traditional fog light clusters too, so hopefully joe public will wisen up to their existence.

I've seen large executive citroen and Merc models with them, a new Toyota Auris, as well as our own beloved skodas sporting them now.

The only lights that annoy me are Audi's with auto xenons. Sounds great in theory but the amount of them I've seen on the roads with plenty of daylight about with their lights fully on.

They are considered to be Daytime Running Lights. They aren't fogs and are not marked as such, nor are they as bright as fogs. Perfectly legal to use them, as they are now a requirement on all new cars. Note that they are only on when all other lights are off, as soon as you switch on sidelights the DRLs turn off.

Some countries do not permit them, so you have a means of disabling them easily should you drive to one of those countries. Some people just don't like them, so having an on/off switch means they won't be put off buying the car.

Same with Skoda.

If you have auto headlights regardless of if you have xenon’s or not there are numerous different reasons why the headlights would turn on during the day...

1) Travel over 80mph for more than a few minutes

2) Windscreen wipers on for more than a few minutes

3) Bright sunshine

The auto headlights are not just activated as the light fades. Your visibility to other road users can be adversely affected in bright sunshine hence why your car might turn on your headlights during the day.

If your wipers are on full then it is assumed it is raining and therefore visibility is reduced.

Travelling at speed (legally or not) also warrants increased visibility.
