Too many toys!!

Maybe, but you still built my favorite one. ;)

Having to deal with a Nissan dealer is starting to grate. They could learn a lot about customer service from Skoda IMO.

It's off the road for a few days while they get a tyre valve in, none in stock. And no spare wheel.

And you can't open it up for more than a few seconds without losing your license...

Vbox is up and running though.

State of the art in-car video :thumbup:

Looks cool. So it does it's two cameras and provides a PIP, G force and speed?

Yes.

It also has other things, which if I talk about will make me sound incredibly boring... :giggle:

For example...

When I braked by my work on the way back I pulled 0.95g and reduced my speed from 32.8mph to 8.8mph in 1.4 seconds.

Not bad for a pretty naff road surface. Good old Brembos. :)

You can download all the data into charts you can zoom in down to 0.1 seconds or several decimal places of g and other measurements.

So you could get a true 0-60mph etc... not a stopwatch or speedo guesstimation.

Needless to say, I'm taking the VRS home tonight...

Ah that sounds really really good. From a glance It looked a lt less technical!

I think it's mainly used for track days and racing.

I'm sure Jabbasport are familiar with it.

It automatically recognises what track you are at and plots your circuit path 10 times a second with all the supporting info.

So you can see your position on the track, how many g you pull in the corners and your racing line from above etc...

Then you can use this info to go faster, or try different lines and see which works best.

As a bonus you can pop it out of one car and into another in 2 minutes on a track day if two of you take it in turns while the other car cools down. :thumbup:

Amazing picture quality :yes:

Ran a few tests tonight.

Which considering a temp of +5c (and not perfectly smooth tarmac) I was very happy with.

Acceleration. 0-60mph.

10mph = 0.40 sec / 1.38m

20mph = 1.27sec / 7.16m

30mph = 2.4sec / 20.32m

40mph = 3.32 / 33.82m

50mph = 4.28sec / 53.24m

60mph = 5.64sec / 86.18m

Not bad for a front wheel drive diesel. :)

Braking. 70-0mph.

60mph = 0.51sec

50mph = 0.98sec

40mph = 1.45sec

30mph = 1.89sec

20mph = 2.34sec

10mph = 2.80sec

00mph = 3.32sec / 50.81m

thats a good 0-60 ! :yes:

Bloody hell! that is 1 quick motor!

:rock:

Some nice figures there! :yes:

Wow!!!! :o that is one quick dirty diesel :p

holy crap 0-60 in 5.64 seconds :o

In all honesty I've been playing with the Vbox (it was in speed sensing mode) and it seems to be shaving about 0.1-0.2 seconds off the time, which is why the 0-10mph is so quick.

It only effects acceleration runs as when stationary for 5 seconds it stops recording until you go back over 2 or 3mph.

So the 0-10mph time is more like a 2-10mph time.

Not a big difference, but I'd rather not put optimistic figures out there I know to be (just a little) out...

At least I have benchmark to beat now when it's over +5c and the air isn't a bit moist. :D

And I've now changed the Vbox set up so it doesn't do this.

The figures do show I'm losing time between 10 and 30 from wheelspin being stopped by the traction control and a gearchange, then 50-60 with another gearchange. It goes like the clappers between 30 and 50. :giggle:

I need to improve my technique.

I <heart> this car.

Vbox setup looks amazing, but the cost?! :o £1,600? woah!

I try not to think about the cost Jason because it makes me sad.

Had to buy four new tyres for the Nissan a few weeks back so February has not been a good month. :(

Know the feeling with my car off the road for a while and money being thrown at it trying to get my exhaust manifold straight! :( Oh, and some bugger tempted me into buying this drive recording system, which didn't help. :p

Its nice that you can treat yourself though as you have worked hard for it from what i've read before B)

If you feel generous my car could do with lowering and I have a wedding needs paying for :rofl:

Yes, it's been a busy 11 years. When I started it was a £100 Ford Sierra and no wages for six months to try and get the firm up and running.

But, on to more interesting car things.... :)

After the incident this morning with the lorry in my Nissan (posted in off topic section) I had to get the Fabia ready for Millbrook tomorrow.

Had done the paperwork, but as it was locked away inside didn't get the plates on. So a bit of running around this afternoon and...

fabplate.jpg

Not the best pic, but all I can get at the moment.

I think it'll look better without the GB on the end too, more symmetrical. :D

It'll do for tomorrow though!

Having changed the plates over I had a very close up look at the work Jabbasport did on the front bumper.

Have to say it really is good, they've done a fantastic job on the big mouth conversion with the cut out, mesh and bars to get the right shape for the mesh. It looks OEM, if Skoda did such a thing!

im a new member, and just wanted to say that looks awesome and goes like stink! i love it! well done and hats off to you sir!

  • 2 weeks later...

Great read.

Great car.

Pretty impressive times too.

I like.

Looking at your car choices/costs and then mine... its like we think alike, your wallet is just better off! (But buy the sounds of it, in fairness you have worked a damn site harder for it!)

Jabbasport = win when it comes to this car! Hats of to them (and you of course!) for the work done.
