The vibrating was due to my speaker adaptor plate's which had fallen to piece's. I plan on doing the rest of the door, just the local shop ran out of Dynomat so just waiting for more to come back into stock.

I've bought new adaptor's again but think I'm gonna hold out and make/buy some MDF rings and fit them instead

  • Thanks for the words people. Looking back and after seeing the car again today I was very lucky to walk away unhurt from the crash....therefore I have bought myself a lottery ticket for tonight haha

I've been a busy boy buying thing's for my car recently. Since the warmer weather has come I've noticed that when giving the car a boot full it seems to loose power after a while due to heat soak so I've been looking into getting myself an intercooler.

I'm getting myself a Seat Sport IC which I've already priced up (not bought yet though) I priced up the Forge pipework kit for it through my work, but they now only supply the kits in blue, this is something I didn't want, so I've decided to order my part's separate, thus allowing me to buy green hoses.

I've bought all the silicone hoses and also the 45 and 90 degree forge bend from Demon Tweeks a couple of weeks ago, just awaiting for them to turn up as eta on them was 4-6 weeks.

I rang up Forge and a very helpful chap called Jamie, managed to sort myself out with the MAP pipe bend and also the alloy bayonet couplings. Ordered them later friday afternoon and was with my by 10.30 monday morning.

Whilst driving about recently I've noticed a strange noise coming from the speaker's, turns out that the rear one's are on there way out so decided to buy and fit some replacement aftermarket one's last weekend.

20120428_133523.jpg

To keep the rear door tweeter's working I've had to join the wire's from the back of the original speaker together.

All back together and looking just as it did when it left the factory.

Decided to order myself a lower engine steady bush, bought it from http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/ and a very helpful Garry got it sorted out and sent out to myself ASAP, and I got round to fitting it yesterday.

20120501_121936.jpg

Initial report's of the bush are great, engine is a lot stiffer with less movement when rev'd, the power seems to come in sooner due to the reduced movement, no sudden jerk now when you let off the throttle at high rpm etc. As some people have said, there is a slight increase in vibration at idle but hardly noticeable if I'm honest, it's defiantly something I can live with due to the improvement's.

Also the other weekend I gave the car a quick wash :D

That's all upto now. I'm hoping to be fitting my FMIC in the next couple of week's once everything has turned up then I shall update.

Right update time. Had some issue's with my pipework, turned up the wrong colour green from what I wanted so had to send that back.

20120530_131345.jpg

They could no longer get hold of the green which I wanted so in the end I had to settle for red pipework.

20120724_204227.jpg

I bought myself some new floor mat's in May due to mine looking a bit tired and in a sorry state, but only got round to fitting them last weekend when I eventually managed to find time to clean the car

20120715_181838.jpg

I also ordered myself some carbon vinyl wrap so that I could do the grill to match the roof, and also planned on doing the vent's and a few other bit's on the inside of the car. I managed to do both side vent's at weekend but ran out of time to do the central one.

My intercooler finally turned up from THS today after they were closed down for 2 weeks holiday, must say I am very impressed with the quality of the cooler and how tidy the welds are, should be fitting it this weekend if all goes to plan.

Never bought the TT comp's I was looking at as I fancy some other wheels so thought I'd just save for them instead, I dunno if funds will allow me to buy them this year but we shall see how things go

Really like this build good work buddy like the carbon wrap looks very nice :)

Thanks very much. I keep having to stop myself from spending loads on the car as there is loads of stuff I'd like to do to it but the gf moan's at me about it and also trying to save for a house haha.

I got the roof done at a place over toward's Leeds, they did a deal for myself and my dad on having our roof's vinly wrapped, cost me £125 it's called Paul Turner Signwrighter's and there link on facebook can be found http://www.facebook.com/pages/Paul-Turner-Signwriters-Ltd/268573049835632

As I said above intercooler was £268 inc delivery, the map bend along with the bayonet couplings were £64 I think from Forge and rest of Pipework was £117 inc delivery. I've managed to get hold of Proper Mikalor Stainless clamps for the pipework which has cost a further £20

So in total it's cost me £469

Very nice!!

Good price for the IC set up as well.

Got a price for the MAP pipe bend? I don't think that one's on their website as a separately orderable item.

I haven't sorry and price for yourself and others may differ as I work in the motor trade and get trade prices off them.

  • Author

Just to add aswell, found my original jottings in my toolbox at work today, I had to ring up Forge direct to see if they could sell it to me seperate, and before my trade discount it was £54 inc delivery

Finally got around to fitting the intercooler the other evening, bit of a tricky job to do and time consuming due to the guess work as to where to cut the bumper and radiator surround for it all to fit correct but got there in the end. I posted a video the other day in a thread I started where I had a boost leak on the car. Turned out when I pulled the bumper back off to inspect, I hadn't done one of the clamps up tightly on the bottom hose after the inital fitting to get it all in the right position.

The car seems to come on boost slightly sooner and pulls for longer now, overall I'm very happy with it.

Any well will let the pic's do the talking.

Thanks very much, I'm impressed with the improvement with the pull now.

On another note, I spotted the front 2 tyre's were getting bald on the inner edge when refitting the front tyre so bought and fitted 2 new Uniroyal Rainsport 2's and had the car tracked up.

Thanks for the comment's Ryy, appreciate it.

At the weekend I went to USC at Santa Pod and decided to do a few run's up the strip. Never been on the 1/4mile before so was nervous to start off with and then kinda got the bug and wanted to go faster. Best time of the day was when I was up against my mate in his Supra when I ran a 15.9 @ 87.52mph.

As it was £20 for 4 run's I didn't fancy doing anymore so that's all I did.

And a few of me on the Strip

Never got round to going! wish i went down now tbh, but the weather put me off big time :/

Cars looking very nice btw (Y)

Looking good! I`m not normally taken on the whole roof wrapping thing, but looking at the pictures, especially the santa pod ones it looks really good. Great time for a first run, I had my first trip up their last year, its surprisingly nervy on your first few goes (or it was for me lol). Are the rear speakers an improvement over the stock ones?

  • Author

I was very nervous the first 2 runs due to thinking I'd stall it on the start line and make a fool of myself so took it easy, having said that the first 2 runs were my best times haha.

I've noticed a slight improvement at higher volumes as they can cope better,I wanna change the rear and front tweeters soon to see if that improves sound some more

No update's as of yet but hoping I should have some rather large update's towards the end of this year/new year in the form of a set of new wheel's (which I'm pretty sure I'm yet to see on another Fabia) and a big brake kit.

Couple of pic's though from Trax

Did a 0-60mph run, managed to fluff the start and rolled so timer already started before I set off.

Nice man, and am I right in saying your only engine mods are a remap and FMIC?

i have bought speakers from the loudest .com for the tea and they JUST fit in with seat belts and when amped up they are impressive :)

i see this at trax. looked cool mate.

That's correct currently only remapped with the FMIC for now, either going to go down the hybrid route or if I can afford it the GTB2260 turbo and most likely get a manifold fabricated elsewhere to save a few pennies
