  • Thanks for the words people. Looking back and after seeing the car again today I was very lucky to walk away unhurt from the crash....therefore I have bought myself a lottery ticket for tonight haha

  • Not had any issue's with the Mintex pad's and Disc's used them on my 110bhp Mini before I had the vRS so they was my first choice when they was due. The pedal feel and stopping power is great. The c

What do people reckon to getting my rear window's tinted?Somebody mentioned I don't really need them looks fine as it is but I had originally thought about getting them done.

I polished mine the day before, but the spirited drive to trax made the back end slightly tinted with soot haha.

car is looking really nice love how clean the red ones always look. if you looking for a gtb or just a mani made give speedy_vrs a pm i have seen the kit in person and the mani is awesome looking.

Cheers Joe, I agree even after near 500 mile's now the car still looks fairly clean and shiny, although it is ready for a full polish and wax'ing once again.

Cheer's for that, I contacted him regarding the full kit price a while ago, I work in the motor trade and we work with a few motorsport/race fabricator's who make custom made roll cage's and charge cooler's for our rally car's so may approach one of them first for a quote on item's to try to cut the overall cost's down. Probs contact him regading the turbo itself I'd imagine but it won't be for a little while yet I should imagine.

Have you weighted the car? With the extra weight the 1/4 time and 0-60mph dont seem to shabby.

I think I'm slightly in love with your car! It looks lovely! Proper little sleepy racer! Nice one!

Contemplating wrapping my grille, and splitter. The roof I'm not so sure about, my fab is black!

I haven't no but now that you mention it I wouldn't mind finding out just how heavy it currently is, as most are aware the leather's are heavier than the STD cloth seat's plus the weight of the sub box it must add a fair bit to the weight.

I agree the time's aren't too bad I think I would be lucky to go much if any lower than a 15.9, as I said aswell, the 0-60mph at Trax was a fluffed start due to rolling so I reckon low 7's high 6's is a truer figure which isn't bad for a fairly standard diesel, even the timing guy was impressed with it.

Thank's very much for the kind word's fella :D much appreciated It does look a sleeper in it's current state I agree won't be doing anything else visually with the car bar the new rim's next year, but even them still look fairly subtle.

The grill I would defiantly wrap mate, makes a whole nicer look to the front end of the Fab's, The roof IMO on your's would be a waste as would hardly be noticeable next to the black paintwork. The splitter, would look good but I can imagine it being a nightmare to do, plus the fact the width of the sheet needed to do it.

Also on a side note, T.Spark, what's the spec of your car going off your sig, it must be rapid and the kinda time's I want eventually from mine :p

We discussing weight and I am afraid to say you'd have to loose all of your interior ;) Or run silly power!

I ran a 14.73 at Santa Pod with a stage 1 map and no other mods, but did have the rear out at the time and the Ibiza is lighter as standard at 1236KG's

As for my spec its not as epic as people seem to think... I dont run one of these new found awesome turbo's everyone on here raves about the 2260, I run a normal hybrid, with a standard engine, no silly injectors, cam or manifold at the cost of £4k from a company. I just run a £1k turbo, intercooler and exhaust and helix organic clutch (at that point)

Around 220bhp (190ish at the wheels) running oem wheels and normal road tyres (not slicks/semi slicks)

What I didnt have was any of the rear in, and took the radio/speakers and most of the dash plastics out. But in fairness (people seem to think the latter saves me 400KG's!) it might save me the best part of 15KG's.

I'd have to save lot's then and run silly power lol, don't wanna remove all my interior rather enjoy my leather comfort and the decent tune's haha. I ran a stripped out car as a daily a few year's back, yeah the power and sound was awesome but for long run's the bark of a Weber 45 did your head in after 45mins-1hour lol

Lose the rear seats and spare wheel etc. Run a lightweight battery instead of the lead/acid monster. Might save 30ish kilos... And can be put back to standard easily enough.

Its not my daily so its ok I have a supercharged vx220 to potter around in ;)

Well no future plan's for this car now atm.

For those of you who don't know earlier on this evening on the way home from work I was involved in a crash.

Coming along a 2 lane section of newly tarmaced bypass in the outside lane I hit a large patch of standing water and the back end of the car came loose. I tried to correct it/brake but I ploughed head first into the nearside lane barrier, narrowly missing a car, before bouncing out and hitting the central reservation with the back end of the car.

Not fully assessed the damage as of yet, but I personally feel it will be wrote off. The front end is completely smashed in, bonnet, is damaged, the entire front frame work which I had to alter to fit the cooler has been pushed backwards and is smashed too pieces. The intercooler funnily enough seems to of come out of it in one piece how ever the air con/rad behind it have seen better days.

The drivers side front wheel was a complete failure, the centre has broken away on the spokes and left the rim intact the drivers wing is crumpled and the drivers chassis leg is slightly bent. The door's open okay, however seem slightly sat away at the top of the door frame. The drivers rear quarter is smashed in and has pushed up into the drivers rear door meaning it's un-openable. Bumper on the rear has been ripped off and the bottom drivers corner seems to of been pushed in too.

The entire sump of the engine is missing, dunno what's hit it but it's broken and nothing is left of it, and the battery has been thrown part way across the engine bay. That's all I seem to remember right not will get pics tomorrow in daylight.

I myself seemed to of taken a beating, I've smashed my head either on the window/door pillar and busted my eyebrow so got a nice lump on it and possible black eye tomorrow. My hip and bum on my right side has a nice bruise from the seat belt I assume. My right wrist is sore due to being on the steering wheel when I hit. My left ankle has hit the brake pedal on impact, and bent the entire pedal over towards the throttle pedal.

Been to A&E and had a really good check over me, they even thought about getting a head scan too but decided against it due to me passing the visual test's well etc.

One thing that got me is that the airbag's never even deployed......

Sorry to hear this, I was in the same stretch of road an hour earlier and a few hours later and it was ridiculously bad...

I think the airbags not deploying was due to the forward motion (while going sideways) you had effectively it was a side swipe with the front end (?) so the airbag wouldn't have assisted hence no deployment...

Metal can be replaced though and the best thing is that your typing this!

Aimee told yourself then buddy? she was worried sick about me all evening, even offered to take me hosp bless her :) It was horrible stretch of road last night, had to pass it later on back from the Hosp and still a massive amount of standing water then. Even the police officer who attended said the same thing about it being a really bad stretch of road.

That's one of the downside's to new tarmac, water seems to sit on top of it for a long time after it's been laid,

I think you could be right regarding the airbag, it all happened so quickly but I know the front end has literally hit square on the armco.

As you say metal can be replaced, just going to have to argue a lot with insurance to get a price that I am happy with as I can't see them repairing the car.

Gutted for you mate!

Onwards and upwards!

Hope your going to be ok!

I once drove head on through a breeze block wall totalling the car and no airbag deployment, I was surprised to say the least!

But anyway, glad you're ok mate. You'll be really sore this morning :( chin up though, clearly it could have been worse, hope insurance sort it quickly for ya!

Sorry to hear about this. At least you're okay, even if you are sore this morning.

What happened to the car, recovered home or to a garage??

I should be fine albeit a bit sore for the next few days though,

Cheer's buddy, as you say it could of been worse, glad I didn't hit anyone else which I was lucky with really as it was peak traffic time's. I'm not too bad this morning, nice bumps on eye. shoulder and hip and slight swelling on the ankle.

Was more concerned last night due to some blood within my ear but it seemed I had a small cut inside causing it but at the time it did cause concern as did the fact I had rang my mother up twice to tell her I had crashed without even knowing I had done so.

Will be on the phone rather soon to the insurance, best get the kettle on.....

My mate only lives 10 mins away and has a recovery wagon so literally as soon as I got outta the car, rang him up whilst a passer-by rang the police. He was down and car was cleared off the road within 45mins, it's currently still sat on the wrecker in his yard for now.

Thanks very much buddy, yeah I will be okay at some point, already been looking at other Fabia's (mainly for prices for insurance company) but none the same kinda spec and miles as my own :(

Gutted for you, glad your ok, you can replace metal.

Cheers pal, this is very true indeed, could of been a lot worse.

Glad to see you came out the other side ok dude. Car's are just cars - It's what's inside that really counts..

There could possibly be a claim against the road owner (council / HA) as it should be designed & built to prevent standing water occurring.

My old man has just been back along the road, picked up a few more bits of my car aswell, but he says there is a massive line along the grass on the outer edge near the central reservation after I hit the water
