Your Yeti pet hate?

Featured Replies

I have noticed the xenon headlights can flicker some times on rough roads, I think the lights are vibrating in the housing causing this, does anybody elses do this?

Yes mines done that from new.

I also have an old e39 bmw with retrofit xenons which does the same.I accepted it as a quirk of xenon-self-levelling lights

?

  • Pet hate, the assumption that because you drive a yeti you're a crumbly with a pipe and slippers. :p I'll get my coat. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2

  • Take your pipe and slippers too!

  • Well my pet hate really is serious, I just hate getting out of it after a run about somewhere. The comfort, ride and the fun to drive makes you just want to stay with it all day long.....

The idiotic speedo- why no 30MPH? It can tell me I am doing speeds that the Yeti would not achieve if dropped out of a bloody plane but not if I am doing the built up area speed limit. Ditto with others- not in car now but 50 and 70 missing too I think ?

Yes, I never quite got that either.

Another good reason to set the MFD to Australia so you can have a big MPH readout.

Even my Fabia mkI has the speed in 10mph increments, then 20mph from 90 onwards. Most sensible.

No illumination ring around the ignition. Annoys me I have to fumble in the dark - My low spec Touran had one. I've only had the Yeti a week so perhaps after a couple of weeks I'll be more familiar with layout. But I cannot help thinks its a pretty basic ommission for a top of the range Elegance.

Must be me, but I just read 30mph as 48 kph on the Maxidot, and as long as I keep it below 50kph I'm happy.

+ 1

The last four cars I've had combined the rear screen demister switch with the external mirror heaters.

Cant get used to having separate controls for each on the Yeti, (Grr!)

Keep leaving the external mirror heaters on, hope I don't burn the heaters out!

:(

I just leave them on. I think they are thermostatically controlled (or on a timer or something).

Just realised that the wing mirrors aren't auto dimming, whereas they are on the Octavia

didn't appear to be, is there a way to tell for sure? I was driving along the road and trying to assess it while staying on the straight and narrow :dull:

All fine and well but if you have an electric driver's seat you normally leave the mirror button in L so that the passenger mirror drops when you select reverse. THIS is normally the only time I realise the blasted mirror heaters are on! The mirror does not drop when I select reverse!

Even in daylight you should see that the whole inner part of the driver's mirror glass looks different. It looks like a film stuck on it that does not quite reach the edges. It stops about 5mm or so short. At night it is this inner area that goes darker. If you don't see the 5mm border at night (with a car behind you of course with its headlights on) then you don't have the darkening exterior mirror.

Thanks. I didn't know that. It's covered in frost just now but I'll have I look once the sun gets up properly and warms it up!!

Depends if you do have this option (auto dimming driver's mirror) - you can have just the internal dimming one. The right dimming one is not available afaik.

Just checked. The frost has melted and it's not fitted. The suk web site indeed shows this is not a standard fit on 2012 elegance.

Peculiar. So they take away the auto dimming feature but give you electric folding instead. I know on some BMWs these two things also can't be had at the same time. They should really give people a choice or make auto dimming standard on the driver's exterior mirror (as before) and have folding mirrors as an option and clearly state that by ticking this option you lose another. Doh SUK. As ever.

Maybe they do, I just bought the car from stock though, and I didn't get to tick any boxes. :-)

No as far as I'm aware electrically folding mirrors are not an option on any Yeti. They ONLY come standard on the Elegance trim level (in the UK).

Now that is odd, and why not offer it as an option and then charge people for it. Ithink the auto dimming wing mirror can be ordered but only with the memory seats. It's a bizarre set up really

in heavy rain, I find the wing mirrors useless, however I think this is a VAG design problem, not just skodas

Most modern cars these days are pants.

Sounds like you had a rough day.... they are overpriced but some are rather good?

The Octavia and Mondeo can both be poor. Other cars of friends and family arent any better or worse and are very similar.

Most cars also suffer badly in the rain with most of the window being covered in rain at over 40 making the mirrors almost useless.

Best door mirrors in the rain I have come across were on a BMW e39 5 series. They cleared in the rain, unlike my Octavia or Yeti.emoticon-0106-crying.gif

2 years and 22,000 miles and I can honestly say I've never had a problem with mirrors in the rain. Perhaps because I have heated ones?
