  • Visibility is poor. Can't see a thing

  • To me the Mtec looks like a typical blue light emitting bulb which will perform worse than the original.   Surely first and foremost, brighter with better visibility should be the aim.

  • This is what I've got installed:-   Main interior light 44mm Festoon: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271006347961?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649   Map readers X 2 and side light

I wouldn't have thought so, bulbs are consumable so you are just replacing them. Someone may tell me different though.

None of the 20+ underwriters i work with would need to have it declared, as Stu says, its a consumable part.

Never heard of any issues but some insurance companies may have a different view on it. Even so, it would just need to be declared, and would not have an impact on the premium.

Had mine installed on my fiesta for ages never had a problem, great lights

VRS-Powered is the reason my headlights are not like fried eggs ;)

By the way the brightest leds I could find for the interior was of this kind:

For the middle dome light:

and for the sides:

I will get pics too but unfortunately camera doesn't show the actual effect in the cabin.

It is a major improvement from the standard bulbs and no problems with the canbus.

They look like the ones I will be fitting (eBay ?)

It is an online shop called http://www.dealextreme.com/

Products do take a while to get to your doorstep but the shop is legit.

Never had any problems with their service and I like the collection of led lights plus from the product reviews you get the idea what to expect. They could be cheaper but...

LEDs will probably outlive you, assuming they are decent quality, to put it politely.

Edit: To not be rude, I have no idea how old you are! :) Just saying it as a figure of speech :)

lower power usage, more money you spend better the quality i think it 50,000 hrs usage

CE mark is best? or other mark, how do i tell whats best?

Bearing in mind that's 50,000 hours of being switched on. The interior lights are going to be on for 30 seconds max average at any given time. That's a hell of a long time in terms of a car's life. Chances are they will never blow in the life of the car.

just go with what others are using, they are pretty clued up hereemoticon-0148-yes.gif you wont get errors as no canbus on interior lightsemoticon-0148-yes.gif

To be honest, with the amount of LEDs on places such as eBay, and in most stores, you will be hard pressed to find a quality mark which deduces the quality of the LED itself.

It is going to be more about the load induced across the LED which is going to determine how long it lasts - say you have a heavy spike in the voltage or current going across the LED, this is what will most likely blow it - not through normal use alone.

Ordered one of these as a tester today and it arrived worked fine. Just ordered another for my rear interior lights (as I have a sun roof :) ) and now also going to order the map lights in LED as well.

The standard skoda ones look so dim compared to the LED.

Once all have arrived ill get a shot of both lights on.

Thanks to the links from others on this topic

sounds what i need especially for the boot, the standard light just doesn't light up the whole boot. it would be good if you could show us what they look like in the boot

When mine arrive, I am going to unlock it from a distance just to see it light up like a Christmas tree haha :D

try and show us how they compare in the dark. the above photos aren't really giving an idea in the day time.
