Goodwill payments etc

Featured Replies

I ordered Yeti Elegance 170 4x4 DPF on March 24th 2011. Today I 'celebrate' a 24 week wait!

I have had a few provisional build dates, on 26/7 got wk 37, 16/8 disappeared from system, 30/8 got week 43...... and then today to celebrate my 6m wait I rang SUK and a very pleasant bloke told me wk 40. He suggested this now probably wouldn't change!!

I asked again about GOODWILL PAYMENTS as my dealer seems to have no knowledge of this. He told me next week, after 25 weeks I would get £300 (in extras/ accessories or M&S vouchers) and if my dealer denied knowledge I had to point him to SUK!!

I asked about a couple of additions to my car (already added a few and changed a few...... wonder what the record is??). He said by the end of the week as I was getting close, so am now pouring over factory fitted options again.

Looking at front parking sensors and rough road package. Read somewhere on this forum that even if you don't do much off road, it can be useful if deepish snow on the roads???? Finally, options for parking sensors are listed as 'front and rear'. The SM already has rear sensors, so don't quite understand. Maybe pop in to dealer tomorrow.

Any advice would be gratefully received! Thanks.

I also had to chase SUK and dealer re delay payments - eventually received £300 of M&S vouchers which have bought me a lot of goodwill with SWMBO!

I would recommend the RRP - I frequently drive through quite deep floodwater around here and on deeply rutted tracks so I feel happier with the additional protection offered.

I went for park assist, which hardly costs any more than just having front and rear sensors when measured against the overall cost of the car - and it's magic: not only useful, but a real party trick for passengers/bystanders!

I am coming more round to the RRP but hadn't thought about park assist... now I'm thinking! You make a good case for it as the missus will use the SM in winter conditions and still struggles with parking- can't see how turning the wheel one way swings the car the other when reversing, if you know what I mean!(somehow avoided this years ago when she got through her test!). This could be the 'magic' she requires!! Thanks

I also have the Park Assist and it is great. But even just having the front sensors are a great addition in helping to park (both to get in and to get out) To just get the front ones is not cost effective so just pay a bit more and get the full PA.

The following is a response from SUK which i took from another thread on this forum.

"You are correct that Skoda UK are recognising the disappointment our customers have felt with delayed vehicle deliveries and so

are offering £150 retailer credit for vehicles delayed by at least 18 weeks, and a further £150 retailer credit in the

unfortunate situation that a vehicle is delayed by 25 weeks.

Each member of our approved retailer network are fully competent in claiming these goodwill gestures, which will be actioned

once your vehicle arrives on site. I would therefore recommend that you contact your Sales Person, who will be able to discuss

the goodwill gesture in detail with you."

i've ordered mine from Autofinders (26 weeks and counting...) but they don't offer the cashback.

Can someone clear this up for me, when I ordered the dealer informed me there would be a 6 month+ delivery time, do SUK still make goodwill payments in this instance if the delivery hits 6 months?

At some point Å koda UK realised ALL cars now take six months to arrive and that paying everyone late delivery compensation is madness since people now full well know it will take six months when they order. So if I'm not mistaken they've now made the cut off period for compensation longer? I can't remember where I read this alas or what the new period is. Or I'm just remembering something totally wrong! :giggle: Sorry I know that is of no help.

I have just been told that anything ordered after 31st December 2010 does not qualify for compensation for late delivery; even if one has been waiting 7 months already with only an "Advisory Build Week suject(sic) to confirmation". :'(

That makes sense... When I ordered my car the order form stated 12 to 14 weeks to delivery. In the end the car took 32 weeks to be delivered. So I was due compensation. But when your order form clearly says six months to delivery and you still sign on the dotted line I don't think it is fair to claim late compensation since the car is NOT late if it arrives after said six months. It just took exactly as long to get to you as the contract you signed stated. Now should it take 9 months to come it is a different matter and I'm sure SUK will deal with that as and when. One hopes anyway.

I have heard tell that altering the car spec along the way can push your car back to the end of the list as it is construed as a new order by the excellent computer system, worth bearing in mind and confirming yay or nay with your dealer before altering anything.

Not always. You can alter your order up to four weeks before it gets built - without changing the build week. I changed my car's colour, added an electric driver's seat and a DSG gearbox. The latter moved the build week on by two weeks. That was it. And hell am I glad I did it!!!

Makes perfect sense to me johann, just wanted it confirmed, wouldn't like to think I was missing out on something.

Oh and I've added to my order a couple of times and it only seems to advance it.

All I can do is repeat what I was told by SUK this morning. No hesitation whatsoever when I asked as I had now hit 24 weeks wait was I getting a goodwill payment soon? The reply was that I would qualify after 25 weeks and if the dealer denied knowledge of this I should refer him to SUK. It seems it can be spent on adding further accessories OR as I was told M&S Vouchers. I guess I will know 100% next week when I hit the 25 week mark, but I have no doubt (though I did take the man's name) as I've been told a few times now. I have this second got a message from the dealer. He denied knowledge of goodwill payments but now says

'goodwill payment or vouchers the offer comes via Skoda customer services, the bullitin concerned states

cars ordered 2010 as we are still delivering a small amount of cars from this period. ...... spoken to

customer services who informed me they look at things on a individual basis and will make a decision on

amounts if any, retrospectively when they have fixed dates'

Interesting, though NOT what I was told by SUK. Wonder who he spoke to? I was told the dealership sorts it then claims it back via SUK!!!

Still seems a little muddy...just as well I'm getting a 4x4 to drive straight through this. I'll let people know what the outcome is, though if the dealer is correct I may have to wait for the Code 20 which could be around September 26th.

I've added to my order yet again.... deciding after forum advice to add Park Assist and Rough road package. Expecting £300 towards cost!

Hope your experience works for me and this advances the date! I imagine they get so sick of someone constantly changing their order they code 20 it asap to stop further changes:sic:

Johann I quite agree with what you say, how can you claim for delay compansation when you know at time of order your car could take 6 months to arrive however on checking my order form it does not state that delivery could be 6 months, no period of delivery is stated anywhere. :mmm:

Originally quoted four to five months on invoice for my current Monster, which in the end took a week short of 6 calendar months to arrive  Skoda UK covered the full RRP of the front park sensors I added to the order in December. Proved to be a very useful option and would highly recommend them. Do very little if any street parking normally so park assist was not worth the extra cost to me.

TP

I believe some of the confusion stems from the fact that the compensation vouchers (rather like the SUK so-called customer service operation) is shipped out to a different concern, so that late delivery payments are authorised by SUK, then the delaer has to make a claim which is acted on by a third party! At least, that is the explanation I got when I received only half the payment due and spent a considerable time chasing up the rest (which, to be fair, did eventually arrive).

THE SAGA:-

My car took 27 weeks and it was only via this forum that I knew of the delayed delivery goodwill payments. When I eventually collected my car I gave the salesman details of the compensation packages and requested the claim be made. SUK had already imformed me that all their dealers where fully competent in dealing with these cllaims so I thought that was that. However, on chasing SUK some 4/5 weeks later they told me that they did not have any record of a dealer claim on my behalf. SUK said they would look into it and in the meantime I contacted my dealer. As usual my salesman was not available (on leave) and they eventually found the details in my file. Apparently the claim had to be made via their Warranty dept. (???) and had not been passed on. The claiim was finally made but for the £150 18 weeks parameter. So a tad unhappy to say the least I had this corrected to the £300 one and once again sat back and waited. After 2 weeks of nothing I contacted my dealer again and guess what, the warranty guy dealing with it was on leave. It appears that my dealer has no cover when someone is on leave! (were they actually included in the recent Driver Power results?) I then contacted SUK who confirmed the cliam had gone into the agency dealing with it and that it had been corrected from £150 to £300. Sympathising, they would chase it up for me. About a week later a car pulled up (Vauxhall) with a letter to sign for. Inside at long last were 2 X £150 M&S gift cards - hooray.. Now I realise where 'blood out of a stone' came from :smirk:

The final upshot of all this was put to rest when I received a phone call from SUK about two weeks later telling me they had not had any response from their agency and would continue to chase it up :wonder: :wonder: :wonder:

There's another term which is applicable - 'the blind leading the blind '

Boy, am I well off for socks :giggle:

Hi Y`all

I called Skoda UK yesterday 08457 745745 and spoke to a very helpful lady who checked on their system after I explained my situation.I hasten to add I have no issues with my dealer who have been in contact on a regular basis and did give me the WK 39 projected build date a couple of weeks ago.

My car was originally specified and an order written out with the dealer together with a paying deposit at the garage first week Feb but we decided to wait until the sunroof option became available as we were informed it was due to come back onto the spec.

The sunroof came back on system 9th March and the dealer was able to place the order with Skoda UK on 10th March (week 10) which the lady confirmed and was also able to give me an actual order number which I have never had or needed from my dealer.

She also told me the order had been accepted by the factory on 19th April (week 16).

She also confirmed the projected build week of WK 39 (wk 26 Sept) which she thought would be unlikley to change and probably would probably be confirmed next week.

With around 5/6 weeks from build to delivery reckon should get car by mid Nov wk 45 ish

which will be 35 weeks from dealer placing order on 10th March.

Broached the subject of goodwill with the lady who suggested I contacted dealer.

Will do so nearer the day as I need to discuss all season tyres and possible supply/fitting of wood trim when delivery is a bit more accurate.

Wonderwoman remarked that there is still time for the factory to burn down, the ship to sink or the transporter to overturn!!!

Looks like trip to Llyn peninsular at half term in will be in WW`S Fabia as I think I will now try and flog the Octavia.

Cheers

The LlÅ·n is a sensible place to go!

Oddly, my order does not state a delivery date or expected time period either. I was told when I ordered the car that it would take 6 months. To be exact, my dealer actually said 25 weeks (perhaps dealers think in weeks only?). Whilst I agree with everything Johann has said, I still cannot reconcile what was promised and what is actually happening. To be fair my dealers have offered my deposit back. I will just have to drive other cars longer...

Please note, it is LLEYN not Llyn. There is a BIG difference!!

Well only because... Oh never mind. Try this instead!

:giggle:

Interesting this , my dealer appears to be aware of the delay payments , but struggles with customer service .Previous manufacturers dealt with have been VW and Mazda , both performed well

We ordered on the 24 April , and to be fair were told of the long delay , but then silence , we gave it a while then prompted the dealer on more than 1 occasion for some feed back on order acceptance ,a return call each time was promised , but nothing .

We went into the dealership after about 6 weeks , and low and behold the order had been accepted the week before . then silence again A visit about 3 weeks ago to see if any updates were available ,a call was again promised . STILL WAITING

Come on Motorline Dartford , Customer contact is important !

Hi Graham and Freedie

Sorry about the spelling of Lleyn but understand according to Wikipedia it is due to the Anglicisation of the name but I will use the correct spelling in future. We are staying near to the Welsh Language Centre at Nant Gwrtheyrn which we will probably visit as there are some good walks near there according to website.

I think the old languages are important for culture having visited the outer Hebrides earlier this year where Galic is interesting but a b-gger to follow on a road map.

Just an interesting point but the lane at the back of our house was blocked recently by a massive lorry with a Welsh flag on the side curtains, he had ignored a sign saying unsuitable for HGV`s and followed his sat nav. He caught the wing of my neighbours car who was at home and asked him if he could not read the sigh at the top of the road and was this because it was only in English! :)
