Lassa Winter Tyres

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have just been getting a new tyre fitted so thought I would get a quote for some winter tyres whilst at the fitters. They have quoted me for some "Lassa" tyres. I have never heard of these but they are by Bridgestone I am told.

I have been quoted £80 per tyre for 205/55/16's. I know the Fabia vRS is 205/45/16 standard but the fitters said these would fit fine.

Does anyone have any experience of these that could let me know if they are good/bad etc...? Also is this a good price as they are on offer.

Any help much appreciated.

I hadn't either until was quoted em. Would really appriciate some help from anyone in the know! :o)

Think your tyreman is telling you fibs re the 205/55 fitting a Fabia I or II

If your on a budget look at something like this correctly sized winter tyre and rim package;

My link

A budget brand but I've noted most forum members using them appear happy.

I havent heard of them, however im sure the tyres will rub

55 profile will be wayy too big of the Fabia.

According to this site Here 205/55 16 are 41mm bigger in Diameter (6.94%)

Your speedo will be wrong. According to that site, an indicated 70 mph will actually be 74.86 mph.

Even 50 profile is 3.5% bigger (up to 2.5% is reconmended). Having said that, this will mean the car will have a bit more ground clearance for driving on snow.

Can you keep it too one thread please

I'll merge them, where do want it fabia/tyres ??

205/55/16 will fit on the wheels, but will rub on your nearside rear arch. Believe me, I tried...

They look like a good deal. Will 15" wheels be ok on the vRS? Has anyone had expereince of that brand as never heard of them?

Correct tyre size 195/55/15

May have made a mistake here you have a mark 1 Vrs, (SE) if so your spare is a 16" 205/45/16 but a 15" rim will fit, 195/55/15

Sorry I miss under stood your Vrs

Try either 185/55/15 or 195/50/15. And you might want to double check your spare - mine is a 205/45/16 same as the standard wheels. If yours is a 15 then try to get tyres the same size at was is fitted to it.

See my last post, My mistake

i am currently running lassa tyres, they are a bridgestone tread from last year, there not a bad tyre tbh grippy in the dry and good in the wet( although not excellant)

it's not a bad price i think paid something in the region of that

So a steel package 195/55/15 will be fine?

Or a steel package on standard size 205/45/16?

That link from above although a good deal is 185/55 R15 86H so I am guessing no good?

Anyone got any other good links?

The Skoda TUV tyre size document gives 185/55/15 or 205/45/16 as the approved tyres sizes for a vRS

I run 185/60 15 Continental Winters on my VRS SE - 185/55 are also fine as they are both within a couple of percent of the original fitment.

Try http://www.tyretraders.com/Tyres_Calculator.html to see the differences.

Man it's very confusing!

So 185s are ok then?

Can't seem to find any official docs on the sizes

Look inside the fuel filler flap, Sizes and pressures for summer and winter tyres!

If you are looking for a good budget winter tyre try GT Champiros - these are usually available at My tyres for a good price. I ran my VRS on steelies/winter tyres last winter (bought a new set of steel rims from my Skoda dealer - i.e. same as VRS spare wheel.

The tyres were a revelation - I was able to drive safely on untreated local lanes compacted with ice, where big 4x4's had literally given up - can't recommend them highly enough. In this combination I guess it depends if you mind the basic black steel wheel look (I thought they looked fine on my silver VRS - particularly as I knew the alloys were safely tucked away in the garage, away from all the salt :) ).

Keep an eye on the for sale board on this site, as I will shortly be selling my set of steel wheels/ winter tyres (with very little wear), as I have sadly recently sold my VRS :( due to getting a company car.

Cheers for the help man. Just sent you a PM!

Not worried about the look; more concerned about being safe and able to drive!
