I've got these too! But in 15" on steelies. I find them terrible in wet conditions! Twice the back end has come out on wet roundabouts and I mean at 10-15 mph, one good thing is the TCS does a good job at straightening it back up, but I suppose if I was doing 30mph it would be a different story lol

Must admit they aren't the best in the wet in a higher powered car with regards to traction, but i never found them that bad, I certainly never lost control or came close. Ill only be using them when its very cold or snowing. otherwise ill be on summer tyres.

Need to buy some spacers for the front wheels now though as the stock alloys dont clear the brakes.

Does the "45" measurement change the circumference? I suppose it does. MAXIDOT has a setting for winter tyres, +5% and -5%, which I think is cool. I suppose that Nankang tyre would be +5%?

It does change the circumference but not substantially, ie when speedo reads 70mph actual speed is 72.36mph. Thats acceptable IMO.

It could have been that the times it happened there was a bit of diesel on the roundabout or something? But I now have no faith so panic anytime I get to a roundabout an forget there're on lol the look of panic on my face must be good!

Moving up north eh? Would be great seeing this go down the strip at Crail. Plus knock hills not too far depending how north you go.. About an hour or so from Dundee and most of the other big cities. Not too sure about Aberdeen or Inverness but straight down the A9. Probably hour and a half to get your track day fix!

Yeah, you probably are best to get some winter shoes up here as the snow can get a bit deep, and the temps are set to hover just below freezing during the day now.

As far as winter tyres go I've noticed a big difference using mines. Even at sub 0 temps the traction control light only comes on when im hooning it. Plus since I got higher profile, skinnier tyres the rides become nice and soft! Just like the granny car it should be :p

im about 30 miles west of Inverness. 150 miles north of Knockhill, 165 miles north of crail, but ill certainly be doing the journey to knockhill at least once. Cant miss out on that. Always wanted to do knockhill and now im close(ish) enough to do it.

I spent 9 years in germany, so im not overly bothered about the snow.

Im mostly looking forward to getting some fishing in. Not lived next to the coast since leaving plymouth 13 years ago. It'll be nice to have a cheap hobby again lol

Fishing can be cheap but as I've found out in recent years it's been expensive. Not as expensive as car tuning but for what you get in return if you have bad luck and weather it's a lot and I only fish in the sea.

and I only fish in the sea.

Its the only way to fish. lol. None of that fresh water nonsense....

One of the things I will never understand - fishing... Sitting all night in the cold watching a stick with a piece of line attached to it with a fluorescent bobbing thingie floating on the water. Then, if you are lucky and catch something you have to let it go :). Admire you fishing people !

That's coarse fishing and it's pointless. That's why I don't do it. I only fish for things I want to eat

Lol, you see, I have no clue about this hobby :)

:)

Good luck with the move, Sy, hope all goes well

All the best for the move north Sy. Inverness is nice place and has its own micro climate. I've come over the hill into Inverness many a time and left wet and overcast to find dry and sunny. Some great roads around there (but also some really bad ones (A96). Try the drive up to Thurso at some point, about 2ish hours one way but scenery is lovely and some great bits of road,. They used to have a mobile camera van though.

Cant wait to see this at knockhill, it should dominate as theres not a massive straight and lots of bends so the punchier cars like these do better

Jabo - vrsrs had a set of 16's you could buy :)

I'll PM him (her?)

Knockhill is a great little circuit, never driven it but been to various events. Some interesting bends and cambers.

Sy as you will be becoming a resident better start contemplating which way you will vote in the independence referendum! Oh and get used to companies trying to charge you more for delivery as you are in the Highlands and apparently unreachable by conventional means :giggle: .

Think Brimma had a set of 16s up for grabs as well.

Do you get your Amazon purchases parachuted in? ;)

Do you get your Amazon purchases parachuted in? ;)

Given the additional costs some charged you would expect them to be delivered by a Rolls-Royce!

I moved away from that area a few years back so am now apparently on the 'mainland' once again according to certain companies!

probably do so they can avoid paying the tax on the petrol for the vans! ;-)

good luck with the move and hopefully ill get to see this furbie tear it up!

Update. The pistons are in. Compression has returned and the misfires at idle have dissapeared. the pistons are being broken in as i write this.

As always with good news comes bad news. My front pads are apparently low so ive had to order new ones.

Currently running Tarox Corsa (Ferrodo DS2500) but im going to go for the next level up again. DS3000.

Winter tyres have now arrived. Just need a car to stick them on

Thanks for the plug, but they wouldn't be available

Good news! So friday looks probable still?

Sy, how are those pads with regards to brake dust and crap on alloys compared to OEM?

And what is the difference really between 2500 and 3000?

Can't remember what discs are you running, groved and drilled?
