Sorry slave to convience and impluse.

I found the driver aids very educational, try a lap with them and turn off one by one till you end up going backwards.

I've read that an analogue controller aka ps2/xbox(with adaptor) works almost as well as a wheel...save it's not. Keyboard play is sort of not too bad, like being left hnded but can't use a mouse with my left hand...the motor / brain controls know how to do do a z aswell as turning a wheel.

Just ordered from amazon, got time to play the demo and practise more now:)

Got mine from PC World - 29.99 - not bad for them, and they had it on launch day.

Can't believe how much work must have gone into this - the slightest change and the car actually does handle differently.

Very unforgiving tho - the slightest mistake can make the difference between winning and losing(badly) but it's still very good.

Only one slight foible - I just started the night special at spa with a viper - although the dash lights up and the headlights/taillights light up - you can't see a bloody thing apart from the odd trackside object - is it just mine or has anyone else noticed this ??

EDIT: Would defo be up for an on-line race - so long as we can keep it between us - don't want some blurt deciding to go all kamikazee on us

I tried the Ferrari trick to get more speed in the straights, so ran a porker with almost no rear wing...

Like you say amazing how easy it is to change the dynamics. Not to try and capture some of the funnier moments of my backwards career.

I can host 6 others on my home connection :) Anyone else up for it??

Ive been using my xbox controller... still tweaking the controller settings, but its pretty good

Just got home to find GTR had arrived in the post, although amazon said delivery between 19th-22nd.

Would have took a day of work if i had known:D

Off to install now, i might not be around for a while.

Bought the German version a few months ago, added all english translation patches etc. then sold it just after xmas cos got bored with it as didn't have a decent controller, just a joypad. Well guess what? Bought a Logitech FF wheel and pedals a couple of weeks ago, and bought GTR (again) on Sunday from Game. Can't believe how much more immersive it is with the wheel, the feedback effects are brilliant when hitting the kerbs, definitely the best circuit racing game on PC for a while, although Richard Burns is best overall imho (and forgot to mention GPL too). Anyone got any decent Mosler/ Morgan setups? Like the sound and feel of these two beasts, even though they are relatively uncompetitive compared to some of the other cars...

Mine should be coming tomorrow, i am playing the demo at the moment, with all aids turned off in the simulation i am getting stuffed :( i can win easily with aids on but get nowhere near with them off... although i have only been playing a couple of hours, what setup are you guys using? (aid wise i mean)

Stability Only and going backwards with some frequency on the downshifts.

Just testing the dedicated server so if anybody wants to help from the outside, msn me.

Only auto-clutch here.

You need to be smooth with throttle and particularly braking. Also, don't try and downshift as fast as you can, you'll lock the rears as you get to 2nd and round you go. Spread the changes out, just takes some praccy thats all :)

Made a right boob on wednesday night.

Before getting immersed in the game, i thought i would tidy up my case to improve cooling to the OC'ed GFx card etc. Got some braiding for fan cables, power cables etc.

Approaching midnight and on the last cable, replaced molex connectors and powered up to test..........

Never seen it smoke like that before? i thought.

Got the 12v and 5v wrong way round on one connector (the last one i did) which happened to be powering c:\:(

Still nothing like a fresh install of windows for a new game:D

Oh no - I know how you feel - I decided to upgrade my PC prior to GTR - was only going to do motherboard, cpu and graphics card - but hey the list so far is

1. Akasa Eclipse Case & Window

2. AMD 64 3000 chip

3. Abit KV8 3rd Eye Mobo

4. Tagan PSU(after buying substandard Akasa Paxmate)

5. 12" UV light

6. UV responsive ide&sata cables

7. UV cable braiding

8. 120gb Sata drive

9. 52x32x52 CDRW & 16xdual layer DVD-RW

10. ATI Radeon X800pro

11. Asus Star Ice CPU cooler - How bloody big are they

Still all the hardwork was worth it - GTR plays like a dream - and I've got 2 PC builds for colleagues on the back of it

All up and running again now.

Just losing emails and other stuff has been a PITA, might think about backing up more now:rolleyes:

Back on topic:

GTR plays fine (to me) only an occasional screen jump, but acceptable.

Just going to gtr-game.com to register my online license now.

Must get round to registering the on-line thingy as well - to busy trying to get half decent lap times - will look a right puddin otherwise :(

Just registered (through 'Multiplayer' in the game) same username as here, lots of players online.

Better get some practice in myself. Off to Donnington now.

****** :haha:

What's wrong with keys?

Anyone up for a spot of racing, tomorrow night (22/3/05) @ about 20.00?

I'll be there with my usual user ID (ie this one).

I'll be the muppet trying to drive with a keyboard and no steering wheel. Then again I'll probably be less of a hazard than the car wrecker who goes by the name of White Spider :D Trashed any good Ferraris lately Col? :D :D :D

Too early for me, I don't finish work until 8pm, but I'll host one at 9:30 if anyone else fancies a race :)
