Featured Replies

However, thanks to Trevorminor's link to ebay I bought a pair of bulbs/resistors yesterday, payment has been taken, ebay confirmation e-mail received and I have this morning received positive feedback from beninefabrik.

All looking good. ;)

  • I thought the point was that these bulbs do include resistors as part of the pack, so if fitted as supplied you will get no errors (because the resistors will sort it out)

£48.90 through eBay even though I haven't got a car yet(i) to put them on!

Edited :

Just phoned SkodaUK this afternoon - Yeti been sitting at Emden since 1st Dec waiting for a lift!!!

Ordered mine from ebay on 27th November delivered today.

Can the bulbs be quickly tested without using the resistors.

Seen new BMWs with the number plate leds looks to be standard fit,

Are there any availble for the yeti.

Number plate LED's will have to be "CanBus safe" as they are included in the lamp failure system.

You need a pair of these to fit Canbus LED Number plate bulbs to your Yeti

Anyone know what fitting the LED fog bulbs does to the warranty? Getting my Yeti next week, and whilst this sort of electrical DIY doesn't worry me at all, I'm more concerned about what happens if I fit them then some fault develops. Would a dealer simply tell me it was my fault??

Regards,

- Paul

Has anybody mentioned LED Fog bulbs yet?

I thought LED bulbs for projecting lights such as spots, fog and headlights would need a specifically designed lens/reflector?

There's surely enough protection in the system, I'd have thought - bulbs, fuses etc., to prevent any damage?

Of course I may be wrong? (It has been known!)

No you are correct. Currently there are no EU approved H7 LED replacement bulbs on the market, although they seem to be plenty others available on Ebay. There are concerns about how well they work with reflectors that aren't specifically designd for them, so potentially not being focussed correctly and causing glare.

Personally I think you would be better putting better quality bulbs in, such as Osram Nightbreaker Plus H7's, or Phillips.

I'm no expert but having read up on fog lights a little bit (I wanted yellow ones and still do) I got the distinct impression that LEDs in the fogs would be more ornamental than functional so dropped the idea.

Currently the H7 LEDs available do not have the same light ouptput as conventional H7s. When the need is there to have front fogs on, I'd rather be able to see properly than worry about any marginal colour difference.

I've replaced the standard H7 fog lamp bulbs with Philips Bluevision Ultra Xenon bulbs, which give a much whiter light.

Having used Philips Blue Vision before, I have just ordered a pair of the latest Bluevision Ultra Xenon. Should arrive about the same time as my LED DLRs. Going to be busy at the weekend. ;)

Just close off this saga

The P13w LED's which arrived today from Car Mod Shop ( http://www.car-mod-s...ilter_name=p13w ) DO NOT FIT the Yeti DRL bulb holder - the contact pins are too widely spaced and the locating 'shoulders' are too thick.

I might in desperation have been able to force things, but as my Benzifabrik set up is working perfectly and fits like a nurse's glove, I'm returning these to James at Car Mod, which whom I've agreed a refund and parted on good terms

I suspect these may in fact be identical to the bulbs purchased from the States by A N Other, as they are described as fitting the Chevvy Camaro?

At least we know now :D

Speak of the devil! The mail lady just dropped my LED light thingies on my desk!!!!!!!!!:giggle::party: :cocktail:

In the little brochure inside they show complete interior packs for the Golf 4, 5 or 6 (although I could not find the latter on their website as a pack). Neat. €70 for a whole Golf 6 set (which includes two bulbs for when the sunvisors get flipped down which the Yeti inexplicably does not have).

And you can have the whole set in either white, green, blue or red! Bless. Å koda green anyone?

My LED's from Mod Shop arrived, fitted in the bulb holder no trouble, tested worked ok, no bulb out error messages. Haven't put them back in light yet due to weather conditions, and frozen fingers, there's not a lot of room if you have large hands.

One thing that crossed my mind when doing this was, in EU countries where it's compulsory to carry a spare set of bulbs who would be able to fit one to most modern cars, especially after reading the Audi saga.

I'm getting confused over all the links here. (I know it is my age!!)

Anzio, can you confirm it was these you've used:

http://www.car-mod-shop.co.uk/Canbus%20white%2018%20SMD%20LED%20P13W%20BULBS.

Re Europe, the rules state you have to carry a set of bulbs, but does it say you have to fit them? :giggle:

Hi there, don't worry about age I may be older than you.

The details on the invoice read: Canbus white 18 SMD LED P13W bulbs. They light perfectly with no warning messages. When the rain and gales have abated I will finish off fitting them.

Nope. No way would those bulbs supplied to me as a response to that advert from Car Mod shop fit (for the reasons set out above)!

The owner admitted to me he had no idea whether they did fit or work!

I think you've been lucky, Anzio!

Hi Robin, please don't think I was being smug. I haven't finished putting them back in yet, but they went into the holder and lit up beautifully.

Not at all!

I'm just mystified!

I wonder if there's been a change in bulbholder? Certainly the Benzinfabrik ones slipped into the holder without any effort.

The plot thickens - and I was hoping we'd reached a conclusion :S

Anyway the Car Mod ones have been returned this morning - otherwise I'd have taken snaps to highlight the differences.

For those of you about to embark on fitting the Benzinfabrik LED kit, you may find these very useful
