1 month ago I replaced my Matadors with "Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2s"

Grippy and no annoying noises. Still haven't tested them on the wet. Will keep you posted.

Also got through ebay some chrome steel lug nuts to brighten up the rims a bit.

Under wraps... got a good deal on these used Recaro seats off a Ford Focus RS that was broken for parts.

Waiting from Germany the base frame that willl allow the seats to be properly mounted in the car.

Will get them wrapped in leather and red stitching to match the rest of the interior.

you have to change the whole seat Base including foam for the bases to fit. As each Base frame is different for each car i.e focus rs is different to the Renault seat and the mini jcw etc etc

I've sent them pics of the seats - they told me that I need a new base frame for the seat and an adapter frame for the Fabia.

They didn't mention anything about the foam base so I'm not sure if that is necessary. Will see what happens when they get here.

Foam-base?

Should only need the adapter that is mentioned...

I have had V12:s on my RS.

Really good in the wet, no complaints on that tyre tbf :).

In other news... installed an automatic boot opening mod (hatch pop).

Here are the items you will need.

1. 2 x springs from Steinel with part number (SZ 8010.20 x 032 32)

This ebay shop used to have them: http://www.ebay.com/itm/181319602645?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

and they can also be found on Amazon: http://www.amazon.de/Federelement-8010-20-automatisch-Heckklappe-andere/dp/B00AC6UNQ8

2. 4 x washers

3. Heatshrink

EJ32sb8.jpeg

You simply remove the gas struts and after removing the top screw cap you run through each spring with a washer at each end.

Then you wrap them with heatshrink to make everything nice and tidy and also to stop the spring from moving up and down.

Voila! Now everytime you press the boot button on your remote key the boot door opens wide.

One thing to note is that if your gas struts are too worn the mod will not always work as planned.

Buy replacements if the boot door doesn't go all the way up like in the video.

Love this!

Fog light at the dark reminds me of some other car. But well done! Automatic boot mod works great as well!

That is dope, I'm gonna look into doing this myself. Really like this feature on our Superb.

Replaced my old Bentix discs and ATE brake pads with grooved Brembos and Ferodo Premier pads.

The Brembos I'm guessing will last me a long time and look a bit nicer than any plain rotor, the Ferodos didn't impress me much though.

The ATE were much harder in feel and stopping power. Well I better suck it up.

Years ago I bought a stubby antenna and I got rid of the stock fishing rod that the car came with.

At the base it wasn't a perfect fit but it was smaller and still looked better.

gJ4gAr5.jpeg

A few days ago I came across a stubby antenna which is for the VW Sharan and that fits perfect at the base with no gaps and looks actually even better than my previous stubby antenna.

Reception is fine too. Not sure why it has those cuts but I'm guessing to aid reception?

Keywords to find it on ebay are (Bee Sting Stubby Short Antenna Aerial Black Rubber VW Sharan Euro Style 6.8cm)
And the shop I got it from: http://www.ebay.com/itm/221851099186?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Looks great mate  it does make the interior more interesting, doesn't it?

  • Author

After installing the matte chrome window switches, a few months ago, I decided to install more chrome switches in the interior.

Got a headlight chrome switch and a mirror switch through ebay. They were quite inexpensive since they are chinese knock-offs but still look the part.

With the headlight switch I had to replace all red leds with green ones since it is VW specific. First I tried to swapped the internals which did the trick, almost, because unfortunately the lights wouldn't go out at position O. Some incompatibility issue I guess, so replacing the leds one by one is the only way to make this work.

As for the mirror switch I removed the cap and dremeled the insides to make it fit the skoda switch.

Will post pics soon as I install them in the car.

I was going to say that I wasn't a fan of them.. mainly down to the colour, but I've read the "To do" list and was pleased with item number 2 on the list  should look good after it's done

A couple of months ago I purchased a set of used Recaro Sportster CS seats that came off a crashed Ford Focus RS.

Condition is fine, nothing that a good clean up won't fix.

In order to fit these to the Fabia seat frames and adapters combatible with the car's floor are needed.

No seat rails are necessary as the ones off the current seats can be recycled.

Installation guide and plugs for connecting the seat airbag to the original plug.

The Recaro seats I got don't have any airbags so they won't be needed.

IMG_3661_zps94rmqimr.jpg

Removing the seat rails was a bit of a pain but no rocket science.

Also the belt socket and cable have to be removed and then can be mounted on the Recaro seatframe.

The underside of the Recaro seat. Notice that there is a spot for installing a fan for ventilation/cooling? Interesting.

IMG_3672_zpsavfhazzw.jpg

For the moment I've managed to install only the driver's seat. It is a time consuming process and definitely needs two people, especially when removing and installing the seats in the car.

All parts fit perfect no suprises which is good.

Pros:

- Seats look great. Don't know what are people's thoughts about Recaros but I believe that the Sportster CS is one of the best looking bucket seat in the market at the moment. The factory seat in comparison looks to me fat, like a couch.

- Seating position and support is excellent as expected from a bucket seat. You do really feel one with the car. Also realised how wrong was my seating position before.

- They are unexpectedly comfortable but they will never be as comfortable as the factory seats which is expected. Also the cushion that raises you knees slightly is great. Not sure how comfortable will feel after a long journey but I guess I will find soon enough although car is mostly driven in the city.

- More leg room for the passengers at the back. The back of the Recaros is half the width of the factory ones.

- Back adjustment.

- Factory seat rail mechanism.

- Armrest still functional.

Cons:

- No height adjustment. I guess in a way I'm lucky as the seating position is perfect for my height but that could be a problem for others. From what I can tell the seating position is a few centimeters lower than stock.

- Getting in an out of the car quickly is not as easy. Not a major issue but something I noticed right away due to the raised leg supports.

-

To do:

- Install the second seat of course.

- Will re-trim them in the same leather and stiching as the rest of the interior. Might consider alcantara for the middle part.

- Would like to spray in black gloss the plastic frames at the headrest so the seat matches also the interior parts and steering wheel. They can be easily removed, just a matter of a few alen screws.

- Need to install resistors to the airbag socket so I can "erase" the airbag fault light.

That is it for now, I will update with more when the above list is done. :thumb: ...unless something else takes place ;)

They look amazing ! Retrim like you said and they will be perfect. Great build thread jealous of this car !

Looking good brother

Can't believe this project exist! The Fabia of all Fabias! Amazing project, keep it on! I would love to do the same to my black monte carlo :)

Btw, how is car acceleration with 130-150 horse power? Can you make it 8 seconds to 100? Thinking to remap my 1.2 TSI. :p

Wow looks fantastic. Great work as always

Never thought about recording my 0-100, will try one day.

Since you got a turbo with just a remap you will have a nice gain and far better response when you put your foot down. More hp is always nice. ;)

Got a great deal on a set of XXR527 (17x8.25x35ET) - they were flat black so I had them re-sprayed in gunmetal matte.

To be honest I got a bit worried about how much they stick out but the more I look at them the more I like them.
At the moment I didn't notice any issues with rubbing - will stick with the 205/40/17 tyres for now even though they are slightly streched.
My best option in the future will be 215/40/17 so when time comes I will try them out and I hope they don't rub the insides.

Now I'm on a mission to find and install a Monte Carlo trim kit so I can widen the body to the dimensions of the rims... stay tuned.
