I've got Falken 452's ( 18" ) on my vRS and done about 1k on them so far and seem fine , didn't get stuck anywhere in the snow , not slid off any roundabouts etc, the dealer put mine on so must'nt be too expensive the front 2 were new when bought the car and i made them put 2 on the back asap to get rid of the saw-toothed Dunlops , in my past experience just spend a few hours playing one tyre dealer off against the other they're all fighting for business after all, after reading all the posts if you can get a bargain on the big brands prob worth paying the extra over the bobby no name brands, you should get a set with ya budget no problem

I've got Maxxis MAZ1 all round. Been perfectly good in all weathers for the last 18 months as good or better than the Contis and Avons I had previously. Look like getting 17-20k out of the fronts. £86 a corner fitted when I got the rears done last year.

Pretty certain they are made by toyo

I have Syron 225/40/18 on my Octavia VRS, they cost me £90 fitted each.. I was reading around before I bought and they have very good reviews, I was going to go for Continentals again but Were too expensive for me, I have not noticed any difference between the continentals and Syron.

My L&K Estate has the sports suspension and 17" alloys. It came on Dunlop Sport SP1, but they were cracking up at 4 years old, and with 15,000 miles clocked up. I managed to get a set of four Michelin Pilot Sport 3 from ATS Euromaster for £460 a while back (when they had a 25% off deal), and these tyres are great for dry or wet conditions, but don't handle snow very well & neither did the Dunlops. Very quiet, and, so far, wearing at least as well as the Dunlops, with 11,000 miles of use, and still looking fresh and smart. I may get nearer 20,000 miles out of the fronts.

For the L&K, it looks like the car can go down to 15" rims, if I want a cheap set of all season/winter tyres, where I guess that the VRS has beefier brakes.

I've used falkens in the past and cant fault them, at the moment i'm running on a set of ovation's which i'd never heard of before BUT my local friendly tyre supplier recommended them and after some google investigating they seemed a safe bet... Had them on a few months now and very happy with them, I aint running a vrs so cant comment on high performance usage, but I dont drive like miss daisy and my ovation's keep up with me no problem...

I had Avon ZZ3s fitted a few months ago, having run them for years on my Fiesta ST. They perform well in wet and dry.

Might be fine on a Fiesta ST, but on my Beemer they're crap in the wet - especially when it's damp, make the car skittish and on a knife edge near the limit. Decent rubber however makes it planted and trustworthy with loads of feel! On a brighter note, they're made out of concrete as mine have done over 15,000 not driven gently.

They won't be making an appearance on my VRS when it arrives...

Thats what I fired on my spare wheel :D:thumbup: £45 fitted fingers crossed it will NEVER be used so wasnt spending big bucks on it!

Go on spill the beans. I watched prices for a year on all the tyre sites. £90 each fitted (for four) was the best I could see. At that kind of money I'll stock up!

I have just fitted Falken 452's on the front. No problem with them, quiet, grippy. Could do worse. Just under £100 each from etyres.
