How Fast are Briskoda?

Featured Replies

Top 3 in practice (just a bit damp).

1. Richard (BossFox) 1:32.806 - mkI Fabia VRS SE

2. John (Not sure of forum name) 1:33.901 - mkII Fabia VRS

3. Harry (Harry_VRS) 1:36.114 - mkII Octavia VRS

Top 3 in timed laps. (more rain and getting slippery)

1. John (Not sure of forum name) 1:41.303 - mkII Fabia VRS

2. Richard (BossFox) 1:43.615 - mkI Fabia VRS SE

3. Harry (Harry_VRS) 1:45.310 - mkII Octavia VRS

I would put all the forum names and times up, but I only have real names and am not exactly sure who is who.

Have to say I was very impressed with the mkII Fabia VRS, it went and was driven very well.

I was also not very impressed with my semi slicks. They really don't like the wet/cool conditions much, particularly when standing around they lose temp quickly. Made for quite a bit lot of sideways action in my car as it was difficult getting heat into the rear tyres.

I managed several tail out drifts, most of which were controlled and one complete 360 degree spin when one wasn't. At least I ended up still on the track going in the correct direction! :D

Neither Richard (bossfox) or I were quickest on the timed hot laps...

Your car would have been much better with longer straights and less rain I feel. Still went well though. :D

The straights were quite short. The only two long ones had chicanes in them.

I'm sure you can confirm, but from what I experienced getting any decent power down was very difficult once the rain started falling and it got slippery. (that's my racing driver's excuse out of the way then ;) )

Posting picture on flickr now

Bossfox, did you get practise lap times for everyone? Have you got anything for me?

Will your times were:

Practice - 1:40.799

Timed - 1:48.126

Really enjoyable day out. Shame we didnt have a whole lot of time to chat and introduce ourselves a bit more but thanks to everyone for a a fun day and keeping the spirit of Brisk Skoda's alive.

The rain obviously made a difference but its also interesting to see the difference between the practice session and the timed laps.

My times were:

Practice - 1:41.558

Timed - 1:45.608

What would have been interesting is if we mixed it with the TT boys on after us, lol.

Really enjoyed today!

First track session for me, and the timing added a bit of competitiveness.

Shame about the weather, but it wasn't too bad. The rain helped cool my brakes down a bit ;)

My times were:

Practice: 1:49.318

Timed: 1:50.667

I will start the list off with people who I'm pretty sure wont mind their times being posted. Feel free to add you selves or ask me to delete.

Well caught Jabbasport Kevin

Also, sorry about putting you in that position.

It wasn't your fault, I had some major braking issues, think the fronts had given up resulting in loads of rear brakes and a soft pedal.. Whoops!

Your car would have been much better with longer straights and less rain I feel. Still went well though. :D

The straights were quite short. The only two long ones had chicanes in them.

I agree. Straights were a bit short and any real acceleration was hindered by the rain. My first practise lap was the best, traction not an issue and it was pulling like a freight train. Great day though, really enjoyed it. I'd like to do it again. I've heard that cadwell park is supposed to be very good too :)

Does anybody have any pics of vids to upload? Would be nice to have a look back. Thanks again for a great day.

I will try and work out how to send you the video Harry. Hopefully get a moment tomorrow when im at work.

Edited To Add: Just downloading the video now and setting up a youtube account..........will post the link shortly.

You're too kind, sir

Hi guys, what a great day out!rain? :rain: what rain?we had such a great time!

It was good to meet new people-sorry couldn`t speak to everyone.

Just flicked though the pics+videos.will put some up soon....

Not really, I was crap in the dry :(

I wasn't overly happy with my dry time either I think I prefered the wet.

Just out of interest out of the Skoda's what was diesel and what if any mods did they have?

Great day though!

I bottled it in the wet. Had a bit of an off on my first flying lap and I think this affected my 2nd flying lap too. Still, happy enough with 5th fastest in the dry, especially as I think my brakes are not the best at the moment, even on the road....

Great day though - Definitely enjoyed a good blat, and using up about 3 litres of water/methanol is testament to that :D
