All welcome to the Prague trip, and yeah first post will have all the details as I arrange them. Ferry I still need to decide and is most likely to be really early and really late on way back. I will try and arrange ferry times for us soon, then we can all book.

Also I still need to work out if there is anything new for driving round europe and if Poland driving needs anything extra for our day trip.

Just seen the 2012 dates. The Nordschleife is open 4 days on the week we are travelling back from CZ, between 5 and 7.30. Guess which day its not open - THE DAY WE TRAVEL!

So if the ring is closed on the Thursday, what about Friday and Saturday?

I could be tempted extending my holiday to include a weekend near the ring afterwards :p 7 nights Prague and a weekend at the ring

I'm not too worried about the Ring really. I think its best done in a separate Ring focussed trip. Its the way I would want it, not to lap it after driving 500 miles, then drive 500 miles again after

I'm still tempted to extend my trip an extra day or so, just so I can ring.

Also this maybe the last trip with my Fabia to europe for a while.

Where you find the details for when it is open?

basically open 5pm until 7.30pm on the Wednesday and Friday.

if you guys are going to Poland you have to have hi viz jackets for every person in a car. you have to be able to get them from drivers seat.

warning triangle also.

have some currency for toll roads - all depending where you want to go. calais - prague drive takes 11-12 hours allowing for couple stops. get some prepaid toll passes for 10 days from first petrol station in Czech . it has currency exchange place open during the day.

To be honest, my mate and I both find the prospect of visiting Auschwitz highly depressing, so we shall be getting tanked up in Prague centre on that day.

if any one else finds the prospect of Auschwitz depressing or morbid then it doesnt have to be done its only for my benifit as i wanted to go as i enjoy the history behind it lol so if no one wants to go then we can always do something else

Well I will be driving to Poland and Auschwitz you got nowt to worry there Wifey :p, the plan that day was a choice, where people can join us or do there own thing.

I would actually like to visit it as well, not sure how long I'll want to stay but it is worth a visit if just to remind people that this is why fundamentalism is dangerous. It is also part of why so many people died ensuring our freedom and that of mainland Europe from multiple nations.

Ok Update for the meet, for anyone else who is interested in extended the meet an extra 2 nights, me and Paige plan to drive to Nurburgring on Thursday 20th Sept from Prague and then stop Thursday and Friday night somewhere nice near the ring and leave lunchtime on Saturday. Meaning we get to play on the ring Friday afternoon

If you are interested let me know so I can work out the best place for us all.

Well I'm not due back at work until the Monday, so I have the time off already.

If you guys want to go, that's fine with me, but I'm not really fussed.

I will ask my mate. It is possible to book at the Sunparks near the Ring. Quite cheap to get a cabin for 8 people.

The sunparks sound like a plan if we can book a Thursday and Friday night only.

Well, my mate is up for it, so in principle I am too.

I am looking into potential places. The sunparks is a no-go due to the odd days we are there. The best value they do is a Friday to Sunday deal.

Going to be tricky getting accommodation due to this event being on....

RCN Circuit Challenge

RCN is apparently the oldest touring car race series in Germany. It is described as grassroots motorsport so expect familiar cars but not the full race cars of the VLN. Entrance to the Nordschleife is free for spectators. 2012 dates:

It might have to be hotels only. The Ferienpark which is self catering nearby is all full..... :(

Looking at about 50 euros per person for a reasonable hotel (one I am aware of through a forum) per person per night, based on 2 sharing.

Found one for 43.50 euros per person.
