Jason, what were your symptoms and how long did it last? Dave has been ill for 2 days, he's still in bed! Not sure what I'm going to do if he's not better on weds :(

Also, it's Dave's birthday on mon 17th, so it would be nice to go for food and drinks if people are up for it (and if we're there!!!)

Main bad symptom was the "D" word, but Imodium's sorting that out. Have a real bad achey neck, which is a pain as its real tough to check my blind spot. But I'll still travel like that. On the first day I did have headaches and ran a temperature - slept fully clothed, under a duvet the first night as body clearly wanted to heat up to kill the bug. Second night the "D" word was still there, but temps back down and my head was a lot clearer, and thats been the same for days 3 and 4 up to now. Just the neck ache worst thing now.

I'm still putting it down to eating something, and it not being an actual virus I can pass on, but I'll never know - just need to ease the symptoms.

Night out monday sounds good! Hope Dave gets better a.s.a.p, or at least well enough to fly if it needs a day or so over there to get back to full health. I think I'll still have this crick neck/hunched shoulders look about me.... [sigh]

He hasn't had "D" just felt nauseous all day Sunday, then has felt awful today and actually been vomiting :( he's still pretty bad. I'm just hoping he can get over the worst of it tonight and tomorrow. We fly at half 3 on weds. If he's still in this state he won't even make it to the airport.

Different to me then as I never had any nausea at all.

Yea, that's why I asked, to see if it seemed similar. I just don't know what it is.... :(

I've been rather anoracky tonight and got an A4 sheet of paper with all destinations on one side, and a plan on the other, then put it in stiff plastic sheets to keep in one piece.

OK, I'm on a much better day today and the timing is impeccable.

I sure hope Dave's feeling as improved today as I am now. I'm even playing 9 holes of golf tonight! (when I should really be packing clothes for the trip.....)

Oh, and I've been reading up on the town of Plzen. Seems like a nice place to do a day trip, so I am proposing a trip to Plzen as an alternative to those not wanting to make the long haul to Auschwitz (On the Tuesday)

Wednesday 19th I think church of bones is good, although that wouldn't be an entire day trip, as its just a church in a small town. The great thing about having data package on my phone is of course google maps should recommend other stuff to do in the area. This kind of tech wasn't available for the last 2 trips made.

The home of Pilsner Urquel - Defo worth a brewery visit.

My brother in law lives in Plzen. TBH theres not a massive amount to do in Plzen but if your wanting a day trip its worth a visit for the Pilsner Brewery and a stroll round the town. They will try and get you to sample the beer and food in the restaurant at the brewery. IMO dont. There's nothing wrong with it but you will pay tourist prices.

There is a micro brewery when you cross the main road towards the town centre and they actually have a pipe coming from Pilsner (at least they used to have) much better food and beer and not tourist prices.

I will ask my BIL for the name and address but he might not reply before Thursday as he's at the hospital waiting for his Daughter to be born. I will be there the week after you return so a real shame to miss you lot by literally not even a day.

One last thing theres a few speed cameras on the main road into Plzen from Prague. They start a few miles out of Plzen and they arent as easy to spot as they are in the UK. They are set pretty much bang on the limit as well so watch out for those.

I got the GB sticker of ebay in a pack with the headlight converters for £3 ....

all fitted, crap taken out of car, bulb kit (well masses of assorted bulbs) added, yellow jackets and first aid kit, will be getting a triangle from can, and breathelizers and fire extinguisher from sam can only has one walkie talkie....

I hope we do get to the church of bones, saw it on tv and it looked cool

I'm packing on basis towels are provided. Its a fairly simple thing and I don't think hotel is cheap enough to not supply towels.

I am sure the lovely lady at the B&B at the Ring will provide all necessary linen.

Are you sure that your phone contract includes data abroad, not come across a UK phone provider that does. They typically charge £5 per mb of data downloaded, and its not included in the contract. You'll soon run up a large bill as a mb does not last very long.

I have set up a 30MB daily limit abroad data allowance package thingy with orange. Once I go over 30mb (unlikely) I will then get hammered at some ridiculous rate but for £3 a day, to have peace of mind re what the phone is doing on 3G is good.

I emailed the hotel, they say they provide towels....

Hotel has wifi in public areas so I'm hoping to load google maps with a route (if walking) then leave that map loaded. Gps should still work though.

Hope he really gets better and quick, or at least you're able to drug him up to be able to travel.

The weather is looking quite warm and settled for the Friday onwards. Low 20s and sunny. I'm packing suncream anyway, to be optimistic!

My BIL recommends the micro brewery - U Sladka and they sell the best beer of 2012 (Pasak)
