131mph on German autoban, would have gone faster but the road was starting to bend so eased off

didn't like to push it to much as the car is only a month old and has only done 1300 miles

161mph German autobahn.

Tfsi at stage 2 + and over 115k on the clock

Thanks for that

Massive difference then to my out going rs 250!!!!

Sorry if this this caused any upset to anyone

Probably about 100. Live in UK. If you go over that on public roads then you are an idiot.

I managed 43 mph the other day. (I live on the Isle of Wight)

Iv had just over a ton out of mine, not big on massively speeding, not worth it at end of the day.

As I have said I am sorry for raisin this question, I am curious to the power available

With regard,s your comments about speed on public roads I fully agree, I would set the cruise control on my 250 at 55 on the motorway,,, colleague,s would laugh at me driving slow!!!!

But why look after it, and either loose licence and more importantly get flies stuck all over it!!!!!!

Was that on the "motorway"?

High speed and fuel ecomony are mutually exclusive. Cruise control on 60mph the trip computer reads 75mpg after about 30 miles.....I like that.

On the flip side, when I was young and careless, my MkI 2 litre Focus did do twice the legal speed limit on the A1 between Huntingdon and Peterborough. For a standard family hatchback, it was fast enough at the top end and on acceleration. Seems that people get obsessed with spending £000's to shave 10ths off a second getting to the top end. (Especially those who drive Corsas and Saxos ;))

These days I'll happily take economy over speed any day. (Mind you if I'd been caught speeding in the Fun Truck, I'd have framed the ticket!)

Is speeding a massive problem in isle of man?? Showing my ignorance now,,, sorry

Also, up grades??? Anyone used the super chip??

110mph last summer with two pushbikes on the tow hitch and fully laden for camping on an un-restricted autobahn in Bavaria. SWMBO never even woke up. Seem to remember mpg was around 30 though. Not up to terminal speed but fast enough for me as a test.

Driving back from a GP in Europe last year, middle of the night, empty roads.. didn't take much notice at the time but the GPS recorded a peak of 135mph.

Donovan - was the car revved out at that speed?

As a fire fighter i see many tragic accidents due to careless driving and speeding on the roads,

If you want to see what your car is capable of then keep it for a track day not the public roads.

Been in the " Red Devil " showing 180mph on the clock, on a deserted Russian Airfield somewhere in CZ.

Seach the Octavia 1 section for the red devil.

No but wasn't fair from it. I reckon if the autobahn was completely clear for a 10mile stretch I reckon I could possibly do 170mph but that would be revving it out.

Saying that I think my limiter is set at 7200rpm

I wish people would stop using 'speed' as a cause of accidents!

The biggest cause of an accident is the manner in which the car is driven (careless driving as you say), time, weather etc.

150 mph is NOT inherently dangerous, doing it in rush hour, or on a twisty A road is.

OTOH 40mph can be much less than the speed limit but can still be very dangerous in certain conditions!!!

Thanks for your comments and I knew some would be upset!!!!

I made a point of asking the question with the whole intention of careful planned or legal speed, not how fast down the m6 or round the m25

I fully agree with mike,s comments about seeing the after,s of getting it wrong, I have also unfortunately have my fair share as a 20 year traffic officer!!!!

I will again apologise for this blog!!!!!

I agree with you Jim

Am accident is caused by contributing factors,

Driver experience

Weather

Car

And SPEED!!!!!!

I agree with Jim 1556. It's not only the way the car is driven, but other drivers who do idiotic things which cause you to swerve, break etc and of course pedestrians and cyclists who don't look where there going.

Also a time and place!!!

I have put my 250 to the max on a disused air field

Never on a public road

If 150mph was inherently dangerous then police would not be able to drive that speed in response. There are a myriad of factors that can contribute to an accident, but generally speaking if it all goes wrong the higher the speed the worse the likely (but not gauranteed) result.

In answer to the OP... best 0-60 5.96s (off the odb port). Highest recorded speed (on a track) 145 but it felt like it had plenty to give still.

I have the Blue Fin remap on mine which is from Superchips. RR's at 251bhp and 390ish nm torque. (which is 10nm over the manufacturers recommended max for the DSG6 box  )

To 250VRS dont apologise, thats what this forum is all about and everyone is entitled to their opinion.

So to everyone out there GodSpeed as they used to say!
