Horrible wet bank holiday

Featured Replies

Sounds very nice - keep it locked away out of sight at night! Loads get robbed around ours :(

Thanks mate, it's garaged at night and to be honest if someone wants it good luck to them, as long as my two dogs aren't in it at the time i'm not too bothered. Insurance is there for such times and while it's a chew claiming that's what it's there for.

Nickyboy, my car came into the country last Wednesday.

Right attitude longdog

If they want it let them take it,, just be careful though as they have no thought for others, it's times when you wish they brake into the wrong house!!!

Andy

Well excuse me sure what would I know I'm only a qualified mechanic and vehicle tester so maybe I have a clue! I test lots of alfas every week and have worked on lots over the last 12 years so before u start the whole u havnt a clue crack maybe think before u say! ;( oh and there a tub of **** always were and always will be :)

Oooooo handbags at dawn :)

Most alfa problems start with a non alfa garage 'having a go' that said add main dealer to that as well.

A well looked after alfa is brilliant - a poorly maintained one is as you say a crock of #%}%

Unfortunately given Alfas complexity over run of the mill stuff the cost of maintance gets overlooked - doesn't help that multilink alloy suspension has been designed with bushes which are classed as service items.

I think everyone should be forced to drive a fast alfa at some time to understand the whole Italian thing.

Thanks Nicky

Nobody wants to buy it. I've knocked it down from 15kk to 13.6k and still nothing. The trade in value was insulting.
  • Author

Nothing worse than that Nicky

What will you do?? Try and ride out the storm and wait, if you can, but 15k is still alot of money!!

Trouble is the S4 is soon to be at the dealers so need to sell quick. If not il have to suck up the trade in value and hope the S4 is worth it.

Thats not a nice position to be in Nicky,, sorry for you

But the s4 will be well worth it,,, put it down as a mistake move on and learn not to make same again!!!!

You defo collecting on Friday? I collect my vrs as well Friday

Andy

A friend ran a 166 with the V6 petrol engine in for 2 years, other than a sensor it just had servicing & tyres,it was black with a red leather interior,it looked, drove & sounded fantastic! I have worked on a few alfas over the years & other than the interior plastics been a bit cheap to the touch i found them generally reliable & easy to work on,there was a problem with the cambelts failing on the 156 models but alfa changed the replacement interval from 72k to 36k & this solved it(vauxhall did the same with the ecotec engine 80k to 40k)the variator on the cam can get noisey,i even looked after one with the selespeed gearbox & that was reliable (horrid gearbox though, not a patch on a DSG)the new alfa guiletta ia a nice looking car,all cars have there problems & good & bad points,i hated peugeots & citroens when i worked on them years ago however i quite like the look of them nowadays & the quality has improved no end.

Your right there micky vrs

The quality of cars has improved ten fold,, you only have to have a few minute drive round a town, gone are the days of poor quality vehicles on the road, or if they are old they are well looked after
