is this where we chant the mantra " two wheels better than four " ;0) then run and hide !!!!!

We have made this little corner of the forum our own now, I think we can chant away in here. :D

Can't remember if I posted this before (I am fairly sure I must have). It was a kick starter thing for a wee online biker series set in Belfast, seemed good from the first few teasers. Looks like it was funded and all made click on the persons other videos to see the rest. The "2 wheels good 4 wheels bad" quote reminded me of it :D

That's brill - overtaking on a Harley !!! That takes guts ;0)

Loved the power ranger comment, followed by the first thing he could improvise in response. I watched all 13 episodes the other night when I realised it had been completed. What a random wee show.

Took the bike over my Uncles and cousins yesterday as apart from my parents and brother nobody in the family knew. Both couldn't process it was me when I took my lid off. They could see it was me but couldn't compute it was me getting off a bike :D. Uncle has had bikes for years and seen the good and very bad of it with mates killed, etc so gave me loads of advice and good places to practice going round bends, quiet roundabouts. Gave it the once over and even he said it was a bargain and a perfect bike to learn with which is exactly what I wanted. Sure it doesn't have to high top end but it would be very rare you could go near it anyway. He's come to the end of his biking now and is about to sell his. Think he's 65 this year and doesn't have time to use it with Taylor to look after. She isn't use of bikes and was a bit scared when I had my lid on. I'm sure she'll come round. She is only 3 after all.

It also meant a ride home in the dark. Lights are better than on my vRS but it still doesn't stop people tailgating you. The road back I know like the back of my hand and it's mostly downhill with tightening bends and sharp changes of direction. Still fine at 50-60 but when it's 2 degrees out, at 50mph it feels like -5 and car drivers don't understand this.

I've also seen the biker nod too. Coming back from getting the bike loads were doing the nod, not so many do now I'm back but I've mainly seen kids so far. Harley riders never do it. Are they an elite group on their own or something?

Hardly Rideables are a different sort. Don't often wave or nod. Some superbike riders can be a bit snobby too and won't nod unless you're on something comparable with them.

Older lads on ancient tourers like to give big waves as often as possible.

[Catching up on old posts]

A pair of latex rubber gloves on first help loads with wind chill on your hands but can be a bit sweaty. Bar muffs work better but look a bit awful.

Stay loose in the wind, seems odd but it knock you harder if you're too tense on the bike.

Sore wrists, yup never really got that sussed on the ZXR. If your lower back gets sore you can weave the bike around a bit to move your body, that helps a lot.

Is it dangerous? Yes it is, relative to driving a car. On par with riding a horse apparently which people wouldn't fret about as much.

In town is the biggest danger, SMIDSY. Out on the road it's down to you mostly. My one off and the few close shaves I had were all self-inflicted.

Do some reading on defensive riding.

Enjoy it, I'm intensely jealous.

I've given my 2yr old a toy CBR600RR

We raise a finger or drop a hand here (excludes scooters) A nod is generally taken as rude here unless the likes of someone waves and your unable to due to a manuver where a nod back would be welcomed. Obviously as everyone in the UK drives/rides on the incorrect side of the road and we drive/ride on the 'right' side of the road this is possible for us without comprimising progress. I even wave to the Police bikers :D I will miss this when I move back and I have to keep my hands to myself on the bike again, so much more friendly and as long as your not on a scooter all greet eachother!

Finger out

this is my lil bargain Kawasaki ZZR600 E7 which I picked up for £550 last year.

I passed my test 3 years ago now on a lil 125 then got a kawasaki EL250 (cruiser type thing with a 14000rpm engine lol) as I was restricted to 33bhp for 2 years, then I sold that and got a GPZ500s which was like a rocket compared to the 250 (65bhp) and finally saw this ZZR on preloved and it was miles away but only a couple or miles off route when we went to bruntingthorpe so I popped by on chance really and ended up riding it home.

does anyone get around Quatt cafe between bewdley and kiddiminster? its where I seem to end up if the weather is good.

£550, good work. Nice bikes the ZZR.

Nice. ZZR was on my list.

Can anyone recommend a spray or something to dissolve any oil and dirt on the bottom half of the bike, the bits not shiny painted of that makes sense. All my normal polishes and waxes should be fine for the rest of it plus I have Billberry wheel cleaner. Probably won't ride it this weekend as It's the push bikes turn. The lighter I am the better both bikes will be.

Brake Cleaner.

In spray cans

Or

I buy a 5 ltr can and top up my sprayer with it.

Muc-Off?

I've used WD40 for oily stuff in the past.

Did think WD40 but the garage said not to as it's bad for seals. Presumably concentrated on small bits it would be fine

Martyn

Forget wd40

you need brake cleaner.

Spray it on wipe off strait away. If bad agitate with a brush.

Trust me I'm a doctor.

Truly awesome! I really enjoyed my E7, tip top tastic!

Yes it was a bargain, all its needed in the last 2K was mot (had none when I bought her) went straight thru, and a good service due to being stood.

so far I've upgraded the front calipers to CBR ones which made a huge difference and fitted a pair of new michelin pilot roads, which I am still getting used to and a scottoiler V system as I am a lazy bugger and wanted to keep the new chain and sprockets it was already fitted with in good nick.

I honestly don't think I could ask for more on a bike it ticks all the boxes for me, low down as I am short, good fuel economy (65mpg +) sometimes lol and more than enough power to keep me entertained.

what would a car cost that could do 0>60 in under 3.5 secs and hit 155mph lol

Cheap option is parafin and an old toothbrush. been doing this for years on the chain and sprockets and anything that gets covered in chain lube etc. Just make sure you have plenty of rags and then clean off with water. It's messy but cheap and works. I had a ZX6R that did over 20000 miles with it's original chain, that iincluded doing several trackdays, ham fisted wheelie attempts and trips to france/germany where silly speeds were done(on private roads obviously :giggle: )

Try swafega jizzer very good de greaser!!!

Bike passes its mot today then decided to start running on 3 clyninders on the way home !

Took it apart and found the HT lead well had filled with water and ruined the plug!! New plugs some grease and clean HT leads and now seems ok! Never leave you bike idle for 6 months!

Oh well that killed a few hours

That's why I am a strong advocate of the ZZR600 still, I think anyone who has ever had one says the same. I ran Metzler roadtec's and sportec's the Z8 ones now are meant to be good some class sports touring rubber coming out these days. Needle on mine would go beyond 155mph :D no idea what real world that speed was prob hit eventually a true 150-155 when indicating 165 odd. And it has a very useful glove box LOL I kept a tiny mucoff wisor cleaning kit in there, nothing else fitted and the lock takes up half of that! Could get easily over 200miles from the wee tank and when really enjoying it 80 miles. If I had of kept that bike longer I would be a far better rider today, I felt I had used it to its limit, but I can't have. My favourite way to describe the ZZR600 when people don't know much about them is "it's a ZX6R that you can tour comfortably on and cost's 1/4 to run"

Not too shabby at all, what all has been fettled with on that?

wp000161j.jpg

First line (blue) shows few spikes etc, but not too bad, until you see the air/fuel, nearly 16 to 1!!

Second after being played with, much smoother, not far off perfect air/fuel ration, with a tad more peak HP and torque

She runs twin scorp cans, K&N with air box mod, 4 degree advancer, power commander 3 usb,

more mods to come hope fully

Where did you go for it? I'm in Notts and fancy putting the Tuono on and see what it's got.
