vRS SE after a clean, clay & wax

Featured Replies

Spent some time giving the new car a good old fashioned clean over the weekend - something the (main) dealer seemed not to understand. Wiping the windows with a dirty rag and blacking the tyres is NOT preparing the car for its new owner. Grr.

Anyhoo, after using a combination of normal car exterior shampoo, Meguiars clay and quick detailer, Autoglym Clean Wheels, AG Paint Renovator (sparingly), AG Ultra Deep Shine, AG Interior Shampoo, AG Fast Glass and AG Metal Polish it looks like this. Not perfect but it's much better than it was.

And so it begins...

Looking very clean :)

Lovely mate

Looks spot on! I also know your pain brother!!!

Bought the missus's Fabia MPI last week from the dealer, and spent all day Friday doing the same. It was already very clean, but paintwork was a little dull with a few swirls. And as it was owned by a Woman all its life, there were lots of little and dirty scratches from nails in the door handle recess's. Door shuts were pretty grubby, and plastics weren't dressed.

Used AG Shampoo & Conditioner with two bucket method using a Kent Wash Mit, Dodo Juice Supernatural Clay with Megs QD as lube (The filth that came off was unreal!), CarPro Iron-X as a fallout remover, Autosmart G101 diluted to 5:1 for the finicky bits with a megs detailing brush, Valet Pro Bilberry Wheel Cleaner with a Silverline Wheel brush. 3M extra Fine Compound and 3M Ultrafina, using 3M yellow and Blue pads respectively on a Silverline Rotary Polisher, CG Jetseal 109, and finished with Poorboys Nattys Blue Wax. Exterior trim was done with AG Bumper Care, and Tyres dressed with AG Instant Tyre Dressing. Windows done with Dodo Juice Clearly Menthol, Interior plastics with AG Vinyl and Rubber Care, and seats and carpets done with diluted G101 again. All steps were done/buffed off with Costco microfibres.

Very hard work, and my back was killing me, but looked fantastic come the end! Its only done 39k, and is probably the cleanest car I've ever owned, even though its 12 years old!!!

so when are you posting the pics of it cleaned and polished~?

Ha ha, yeah it was pretty overcast and late by the time I'd finished! Coupled with my pants photographic skills, it doesn't look all that! :giggle:

im joking looks good bro

No worries mate, yours does look very shiny in comparison though!

Did mine this weekend too; Mer Clay, two coats of AG Super Resin Polish, two coats of AG Extra Gloss Protection. Used Turtle Wax colour magic polish in some areas and did the glass with some Turtle Wax Clear Vue. My arm and wrist now hurt, I really need to invest in a machine polisher if I am going to keep this up! Hopefully it will last until Christmas now though.

Looking good mate!

Looks lovely, nice work. I'm a big fan of simply clean, standard looking Fabs.

Paintwork looks very glossy and the wheels are lovely and bright.

Thanks chaps! Definitely building muscle in my polishing arm... Next time I'll give it another coat or two of wax. One just doesn't cut it.

I will (hopefully) be doing mine this weekend... Dealers don't seem to clean them like they should. Although there is polish residue in the panel gaps so they probably used super resin on it...

I'll be washing, claying, polishing and waxing using Autoglym's Finest selection (got a pot of HD wax too) - anyone used HD wax on black?

Looking excellent.

Love your use of AG products.

I stood and watched a trained Autoglym guy use it on my parents' black Lexus RX. Bloody hell, is it good stuff.
