That's very nice. I wanted a black one myself but the wife wasn't keen because she thought that the black wheels on a black car would be too much, but then the dealer informed me that there were only the blue DSG's left available anyway which kind of made my mind up on which colour & gearbox to choose  Still, the wife is happy as it was the blue that she wanted and I very rarely get to use these day anyway as every time I get up it's already been taken to work by her!

Yeah the dealer told me there wasn't any blacklines left at the start of November and I ended up buying the parts managers demo just shows you you can't trust dealers if people still getting them today can't complain though got it for 17k with 1500 miles on it great price

hi just thought id give all blackline owners, which i am 1 of words of advice

this morning driving to work got a puncture, pulled in to a garage, it went flat within minutes, split the front tyre.

when i bought the car i also bought a spare wheel and jack etc , think i paid about £180.

spare did not push back far enough to go on properly couldnt believe it gutted.

phoned rac who came out , he was puzzled as to why it wouldnt go on. but

it will go on the back because the disc is smaller on the back , had to put spare on back move back wheel to front all ok,finally.

i have phoned the dealer where i bought the car from , they are looking into it as it should go on all wheels.

if you have a blackline and you got a spare wheel ,just check and see.

My old Civic was the same, brakes too big for the space saver to go on front. Think I would rather have bigger brakes and the hassle on the odd occasion. Thankfully in 4.5 years I never had to change a flat.

Now having an elegance, it's a full sized alloy

yes i completely agree , brakes are billiant, but when its 5 in the morning got a 40 mile journey to work , and its raining , and no one has informed you that the spare will only go on the back i think is a bit unacceptable, had i have known, it wouldnt have been a problem.

but the dealer has said this is not how it should be , they have said they will check it all out and give me a spare that fits all

Gents this is my second post so go easy.

Ordered my SILVER blackline today.

After thrashing the figures and got the deal I wanted, No blue manuals left he says but they have them in .......................................SILVER

I said are you sure and he showed me the screen a list of 10 blackline manual estates in silver.

I cant remember the technical term he used but it meant they werent built yet so he was going to phone me back today with build date.

So deposit paid. Its my favourite colour silver(last 2 cars have been).I was able to see the blue and thought it looked awesome but I was told none left.

So will wait on delivery.

cheers all

I have a 16" steel spare with 205 55 r16 tyre. Be very surprised if this did not fit over the 312mm brakes.

Old Fabia vRS estate had 288mm front brakes and the 15" steel spare "just" fitted over the caliper.

as long as they don't suddenly produce some RED ones (SWMBO was desperate to get a red car) then I'm happy that there is more Blackline goodness yo spread around

That does suck mate and Honda didn't tell me, the forum did  joke eh?

Did the dealer supply a 15" or 16" spare? I'm lead to believe that the 15" wheels won't fit over the brakes on the vRS but 16" wheels are okay. It might be worth having a look (I know that the dealer will be exchanging it for one that will fit, but it would be good to know for everyone else just in case there is an issue with the dealer supplied steel spares).

Hi I'm new to this site, new to Skoda and new to my new Octavia Blackline VRS.

I recently bought mine after a closely run comparison and play off with a new Seat Leon FR+ which are/were quite affordable at the moment. One of the features I was most looking forward to was the 6 CD changer as the Octavia brochure states its standard on the VRS as part of the Bolerno radio. The blackline element of the brochure then states that in addition to the standard specification the Blackline comes with Amsdun Sat Nav and DAB. Now I'm no familiar with SKODA kit and just because it had such items why should it loose the Bolerno radio and/or 6 CD changer? I asked the staff at the garage to which the matter was glossed over stating how customers know more about the spec that the dealers sometimes. Further examination of the brochure mentiones (on page 21) that should the Columbus sat nav be selected then no Bolerno radio 6 cd changer would be fitted - no mention of the Amsdun Sat Nav or DAB. I thought it would be safe to assume since the statement is so specific that it would be present.

The day of delivery came and the car shown to me (wife and kids in tow, lots of noise). I asked about the CD changer to which the sales person stated they didn't know about it but referred me to the brochure. I took the car away and a few days later tried looking for the 6 CD changer in the instructions etc. Its not there.

I contacted the dealer and they passed me on to Skoda customer service. SKODA tried to explain it away stating it was an assumption on my part - but why, given the above, would I not think differently? SKODA tried explaining that the stereo is a much better one than the Bolerno and I could use SD cards etc. I have a vast CD collection and don't possess a lap top and have never downloaded legally or otherwise therefore this was not my on my radar (no mention of these specs in the brochure, merely the 6 CD changer that isn't there!) SKODA are telling I made an assumption however accept the brochure isn't clear stating if 499 other owners haven't complained about it why I am???? I am told that one would be available at a cost of £300 and that they could give me the part number however

I am not happy with this situation. Are 6 CD changers something only Im interested? Or have I missed the wood for the trees here?

There is a thread about all the stereos here, but if the Amdsden is the same as the Bolero, its a stereo loaded changer. You keep putting them into the unit and not a changer in the boot

Hope that helps. You also get an SD card which is what I tend to use in my Bolero

No, the unit is definately does not have a 6 cd changer function - the SKODA customer service have told me so. So its not a case of mistaken identity.

Do you think there a SD card already in the unit? Did yours come with one?

I am unhappy mostly because I believe the brochure basically gives the impression that a 6 CD changer is present when clearly there isn't one. But thanks for the link.

As above, the SD card facility makes the 6 disc changer redundant IMHO. The easiest way to think of it is that Sat-Nav that is fitted on the Amundsen & Columbus takes up the space in the head unit that the integral CD changer occupies in the Bolero.

Just buy yourself a cheapish SD card (I've got a 32GB for about £15 from a respected online store) and I don't think that I'll ever get anywhere near filling it with music - my (very) rough calculations show that it would hold over 6000 songs! Also, if you get the Bluetooth activated you can stream music direct to the unit as well from your phone/MP3 player. £30 buys a proper VW mic for OEM bluetooth phone use as well.

I know others will argue, but for what you get, sound quality and everything else, I think that the Amundsen is hard to beat. You just need to alter your listening habits away from the 1990's and CD's into 2013 and SD cards. (And don't worry, my wife has had to be persuaded away from her comfort zone with CD's but now loves the idea of the SD card).

But since SKODA indicated the VRS comes with a 6 CD changer and that theres no mention of it not being present in the blackline, shouldn't they provide us with one??

I understand what youre saying about digital media, but the fact remains, I've ended up missing something that I was reasonably expecting to have in my new car experience. I've spend the best part of £20k (a LOT to me!!!) and feel let down and completely marginalised as its insinuated (by SKODA) that because I use CD'S and that no one else cares about CD's then somehow I'm the one at fault (by SKODA, the assumption as noted earlier in this thread). If it wasn't going to have one then it would have been told.

Hi Stuart,

TBH the brochures are not the best as I've noticed errors in brochures for both the skodas I've had. I didn't get a SD card with mine and suspect you wont either unless Zaff has found where Skoda hides them!- I didn't even know the amundsen would take 1 and thought I'd just get the sat Nav and DAB, though I was hopeful as my other Octy did, but if you've never done it before once you have I don't think you'll mess with CDs again. I've got an 8gb card in mine and curently there's the thick end of 100 albums in mp3 on there. The vertical slot to take the SD card is on the left of the screen between it and the 3 toggle buttons. If you've never done it before it's easy to convert your CDs to mp3 versions in windows player- if you know how to do this already don't shoot the messanger as I'm only trying to help!

On the plus side in the brochure I had it said the BL had 2 zone air con, when in fact it has dual climate control, which I find brill and a big improvemnt on my previous Octy that just had air con. The DCC warms up quicker too- think I've seen somewhere it takes it's hot feed from by the turbo, so doesn't have to wait for the thermosta to open like normal heaters.

Hope this helps

Did the dealer supply a 15" or 16" spare? I'm lead to believe that the 15" wheels won't fit over the brakes on the vRS but 16" wheels are okay. It might be worth having a look (I know that the dealer will be exchanging it for one that will fit, but it would be good to know for everyone else just in case there is an issue with the dealer supplied steel spares).

my spare is 195/65x 15 it will only fit on the back

my spare is 195/65x 15 it will only fit on the back

They have supplied the wrong spare - it needs to be a 16" rim to fit on the front. Contact the dealer that supplied it as it's not fit for purpose and get them to change it for a 16" rim.

I bought my spare- hated the thought of relying on the gunge. Mines a 205/55 x 16, so I'm assuming you'll be taking yours back as it's not fit for purpose under the sale of goods act?

cheers

Ade

I'm glad of the assistance regarding the use of the SD card system but this is not what I'm looking for. I'm pointing out the SKODA have made a major inaccurately when listing the spec of the car and that in particular I have issue with the lack of the 6 CD Changer.

I should point out I bought a CITIGO for my wife a few months ago without any problems which is why I'm so disappointed with this matter. I can't believe the brochure states it has something as standard and then, because it's something I specifically wanted and actually asked about, find its not present.

Does anyone know if theres a cooling off period I can hand a new car back in for a full refund? Its a nice drive and a nice car, but I don't usually buy brand new cars and know I won't be buying a new SKODA again unless this matter gets resolved. Like providing me with what I (thought) I'd paid for.

It's easy to look past something that does'n't concern you (i.e it appears there are no CD fans here). Imagine if the units came without SD card slots? And SKODA said tough, it doesn't actually say in the brochure that they have them so it was an assumption on your part. Don't you think that would be unreasonable?

Hi

Personally I didn't need or care for a cd changer. I am sure there will be small print stating "specs subject to change". Either agree something with skoda and the dealer or live with it and enjoy the world of mp3s.
