Has anyone been given a delivery date for the Blackline Octavia VRS?

Featured Replies

I'm glad of the assistance regarding the use of the SD card system but this is not what I'm looking for. I'm pointing out the SKODA have made a major inaccurately when listing the spec of the car and that in particular I have issue with the lack of the 6 CD Changer.

I should point out I bought a CITIGO for my wife a few months ago without any problems which is why I'm so disappointed with this matter. I can't believe the brochure states it has something as standard and then, because it's something I specifically wanted and actually asked about, find its not present.

Does anyone know if theres a cooling off period I can hand a new car back in for a full refund? Its a nice drive and a nice car, but I don't usually buy brand new cars and know I won't be buying a new SKODA again unless this matter gets resolved. Like providing me with what I (thought) I'd paid for.

It's easy to look past something that does'n't concern you (i.e it appears there are no CD fans here). Imagine if the units came without SD card slots? And SKODA said tough, it doesn't actually say in the brochure that they have them so it was an assumption on your part. Don't you think that would be unreasonable?

I have to say that I think you are making an issue out of nothing. The brochure will state somewhere that the spec is subject to change, the Amundsen+ is a far superior head unit than the Bolero with more features and maybe if it was such a major issue for you then you should have checked the spec of the head unit fitted to the vehicle before agreeing to buy the car - the literature clearly states that the Sat Nav replaces the autochanger if you read it properly.

Christ mate. I bet your a riot at party's. I'm closer to 40 than 30 and don't appreciate being referred to as a kid, simply because I'm looking forward to getting my Blackline. In my opinion, kids d

Stuart, where in the brochure does it say that the blackline should come with a changer? I just downloaded it and couldn't see it

It doesn't - it states the columbus sat nav, no mention of this one.

From the pdf downloaded this is what it says on the blackline page

Standard Equipment (over vRS)18" Black 'Neptune' alloys(7.5J x 18” 225/40 R18 92Y) Acoustic rear parking sensorsAmundsen satellite navigationDABvRS leather upholstery (contains artificial leather)

On the vrs page it says

Touchscreen ‘Bolero’ radio - 2 DIN with integrated 6 CD changer (can play MP3 recordings)

By the way I don't want you thinking I am arguing with yourself, but I wanted to save you going down to the dealership.

The best plan would be to download itunes, convert CDs to mp3, copy to £15-£20 32GB SD card and then delete the files should you no longer want them on itunes. Just rememebr to set it up for mp3 otherwise it will default to mp4a and they wont work on the headunit.

I know it wasn't what you were expecting, but it seems silly to get rid of such a nice car for a lack of changer. The other option would be to sell your current headunit and buy a second hand Bolero. You would however lose BT and Sat-nav

So as you can see theres no mention of loosing the 6 cd changer unit. I did ask the dealership and they referred me to the brochure spec and thats what I was presented with. A £300 extra is not nothing unless someone would like to give me "nothing" to have the extra unit fitted??

I will swap with you :)

Hi Stuart,

I'm just looking at my hard copy of the brochure. I certainly understand your frustration at not getting something you wanted/was expecting and am not trying to make light of it in any way, just that for me (I appreciate it's a personal thing) the SD card is better which is why I made the comments I did as i was trying to be upbeat for you and thought this might overcoem your initial disapointment if you didn't know about the SD card.

Looking at the brochure on p 17 the BL shows the DAB and Amundsen satellite navigation as standard equipment over the vRS- they're on different lines with a gap between them, so are in effect seperate items I guess. The vRS on p16 shows the details for the bolero all together including the 6 CD changer, so skoda will say as the DAB replaces the bolero you wouldn't get the 6 CD changer because the changer was part of the Bolero. Again this doesn't help your plight much but my dealer told me there was only a single CD in the BL when I ordered mine.

And DAB.

From reading the above post, it seems that the 6 disc auto-changer is specific to the Bolero radio fitted, not as a specific part of the vRS spec. It would therefore reason (from how I see it) that stuart1671 has misread/interpreted the brochure incorrectly. I'm not trying to start an argument, it is just how I see things and I can understand how you would be disappointed if you had thought that you were getting something else - I was disappointed that Skoda don't fit auto lights as standard but it certainly wasn't a deal breaker.

It's the integrated bit as apposed to a 6 disc changer that's key

Hi I'm new to this site, new to Skoda and new to my new Octavia Blackline VRS.

I recently bought mine after a closely run comparison and play off with a new Seat Leon FR+ which are/were quite affordable at the moment. One of the features I was most looking forward to was the 6 CD changer as the Octavia brochure states its standard on the VRS as part of the Bolerno radio. The blackline element of the brochure then states that in addition to the standard specification the Blackline comes with Amsdun Sat Nav and DAB. Now I'm no familiar with SKODA kit and just because it had such items why should it loose the Bolerno radio and/or 6 CD changer? I asked the staff at the garage to which the matter was glossed over stating how customers know more about the spec that the dealers sometimes. Further examination of the brochure mentiones (on page 21) that should the Columbus sat nav be selected then no Bolerno radio 6 cd changer would be fitted - no mention of the Amsdun Sat Nav or DAB. I thought it would be safe to assume since the statement is so specific that it would be present.

The day of delivery came and the car shown to me (wife and kids in tow, lots of noise). I asked about the CD changer to which the sales person stated they didn't know about it but referred me to the brochure. I took the car away and a few days later tried looking for the 6 CD changer in the instructions etc. Its not there.

I contacted the dealer and they passed me on to Skoda customer service. SKODA tried to explain it away stating it was an assumption on my part - but why, given the above, would I not think differently? SKODA tried explaining that the stereo is a much better one than the Bolerno and I could use SD cards etc. I have a vast CD collection and don't possess a lap top and have never downloaded legally or otherwise therefore this was not my on my radar (no mention of these specs in the brochure, merely the 6 CD changer that isn't there!) SKODA are telling I made an assumption however accept the brochure isn't clear stating if 499 other owners haven't complained about it why I am???? I am told that one would be available at a cost of £300 and that they could give me the part number however

I am not happy with this situation. Are 6 CD changers something only Im interested? Or have I missed the wood for the trees here?

No disrespect but its obvious enough that the BL doesnt come with the standard Bolero head unit, it having the Amundsen + is one of the key spec upgrades. It is only the Bolero unit that has an integrated 6CD, none of VAGs Nav units have anything other than an MP3 compatible single loader.

Personally I was happy to be getting an upgrade myself as the Amundsen + other than a lack of CD changer is much more feature rich with Nav, DAB and if you want to go to the trouble Bluetooth with sone coding and a mic install; less than 100 quid to do.

Gents this is my second post so go easy.

Ordered my SILVER blackline today.

After thrashing the figures and got the deal I wanted, No blue manuals left he says but they have them in .......................................SILVER

I said are you sure and he showed me the screen a list of 10 blackline manual estates in silver.

I cant remember the technical term he used but it meant they werent built yet so he was going to phone me back today with build date.

So deposit paid. Its my favourite colour silver(last 2 cars have been).I was able to see the blue and thought it looked awesome but I was told none left.

So will wait on delivery.

cheers all

Are you sure the dealer ordered you a blackline as when they came out was only availible blue white or black.

Blackline:

Silver alloys replaced with black alloys

Cloth seats replaced with leather seats

Bolero replaced with Amundsen

I therefore did not expect these standard vrs items on my blackline nor a CD multichanger.

Simples.

You now have a fine collection of art deco coffee mats.

They must have some spare silver paint left ;)

Forgot to add, the brochure isn't perfect but everyone (mostly all) got a spare wheel and maxidot. Neither of these items are in the brochure but this could equate to another £350 of value chucked in by Skoda.

The Amundsen will still play MP3 CDs so you still have the flexibility there.

In the grand scheme of things not having a CD multichanger is not a big deal and this kind of extra is sooooo 1990's.

Come resale I know which will be more attractive to a future buyer and it ain't a CD multichanger.

Cheers.

Blackline only comes in three colours, race blue, candy white and black.

I know thats what I thought and I saw the order list with blackline against it my own eyes and he assures me its the blackline.

He phoned me back with a build date of week 8 and again was reassured blackline manual estate in silver.

So apart from rechecking with him or another salesman and if anyone else can confirm their availabilty ill will have to wait and see.

God dam skoda uk. Keep changing stuff about blackline. 1st was there is going to be more than 500 now its more than the origonal three collours. Begining to think theyre very desperate to get rid of stock befor mrk3

It states Amsdun sat nav. I wasn't aware Amsdun was a seperate stereo. DAB can be an upgrade on all kinds of stereo systems.

Touchscreen ‘Bolero’ radio - 2 DIN with integrated 6 CD changer (can play MP3 recordings) is down as a single item however the Amsdun sat nav and DAB are mentioned as seperate items when theyre clearly part of the same to take for granted any one thing is replacing another is not clear at all. Obviously a car can only have one set of wheels - but since it mentioned an Amsdun sat nav and a DAB should I expect it to have two stereo units???? Obviously not. Instead to assume that what is listed are the major features are all included. Maybe its a "1990s" thing but I see 6 CD changer as a MAJOR feature and make no assumption that it can only be with one stereo or another as they are often seperate things altogether. Its a major feature in my book, one I asked the staff about on various occasions but was always referred to the literature. The literature states a VRS comes with a stereo with a 6 CD changer and since this is a limited edition VRS my assumption, as admitted by them to not be unreasonable, that it would be speced as a VRS unless specifically noted. It does NOT state at any time or place that the feature was not included. Everyone here does not see the 6 CD changer as a premium item whilst I clearly do.

I hear whats been said about the better stereo being an Amsdun but please, could someone show me where its specification is in the Octavia brochure so that I could have judged it prior to purchase? Or even to be informed it IS a stereo at ALL instead of just a Sat Nav feature?

I respect your decision to have whatever ICE you want in your car.

However, to try and argue that the reader has been misled or lied to by Skoda is stretching it a bit far. I'm sure that most Blackline owners did not expect a CD multichanger.

Enjoy your car for what it is - an affordable and quality motor. There are far too many positives to this model for it to be dissed because it does not do multiple CDs.

they still making more cars then if more keep coming up for sale

I understand the confusion, I only knew what was going on by reading various threads, but if it is such an important thing, if the dealer couldn't tell you if it had a changer, why did you not say "I'm not buying it without a definite answer" ??

Are you sure the dealer ordered you a blackline as when they came out was only availible blue white or black.

either the blackline in silver or a NORMAL VRS in silver/diesel/manual/estate but I thought there where no more of them either

I shall be on the phone 2morrow .

Any suggestions on how I can confirm the silver colour ie screen dumps of the order system

Forgot to add, the brochure isn't perfect but everyone (mostly all) got a spare wheel and maxidot.

I got maxidot but certainly no spare wheel. Rats.

On another subject, is mine the first Blackline to suffer a collision? Got rear-ended on the way home down the M3 last week, car in front braked heavily and veered to the side, I braked heavily and stopped in time, lad in Fiesta behind me braked less heavily and didn't stop in time, nor did the white van behind him that shunted him into me a second time. Got a call from the Fiesta driver's insurer within 2 hours accepting liability, arranging hire car and agreeing to book into repairer of my choice.

Repairs will be approx £2k :-( (although all paid by other party's insurer). Rear bumper, parking sensors, and some cutting/welding to replace creased bits. Should be sorted by end of next week.

2L Passat estate for two weeks kind of boring.

The spare wheel seems to be coming as standard only on the "second batch" which are all estates. The only reason I've got a spare in my hatch is that I insisted on the dealer supplying one as part of the sale.

Sorry to hear about the collision. Hopefully nobody is injured and all will be repaired and good as new quickly and hassle free. I nearly totalled mine the other week with 700 miles on it when an old dear forgot to stop at a cross-roads - thankfully she saw me in time as the ABS wasn't going to stop me in time!
