Has anyone been given a delivery date for the Blackline Octavia VRS?

Featured Replies

Sorry but I think it's VERY clear. It states that the Amundsen is included. It's clear that this is a different system. A 2 second click on Google showed me te difference. Not sure how this can be written clearer. All car booklets are the same. Each lever changes and it ALWAYS say either in addition or replaces. In this case it says standard over VRS. It completely clear on the opposite page tha the Bolero has integrated 6 CD changer. Did you expect both?

I didn't know the Amundsen was anything else other than a Sat Nav system as it states in the brochure. I had explored the rest of the brochure further but could only find reference to the Columbus sat nav actually replacing the Bolerno. Due to the lack of any mention of the Amundsen I assumed it was in addition to, yes. It didn't state otherwise.

Christ mate. I bet your a riot at party's. I'm closer to 40 than 30 and don't appreciate being referred to as a kid, simply because I'm looking forward to getting my Blackline. In my opinion, kids d

Stuart I answered one of you questions and you either missed or ignored it. After you complained that nobody had answered it someone quoted my post to you and you either missed or ignored that too.

Perhaps you might like to go back over the responses since your initial post and see what else you missed (I appreciate some of those responses blame you, and not all of them have indeed read your own complaint properly).

If, as stated earlier by others, the brochure states a 6cd 'bolero' is fitted, not a 6cd auto changer, then as soon as a different headunit is mentioned there is no reason to think that it will have identical features - in fact it's pretty much guaranteed that it will be different. I accept that you'd normally expect an 'upgrade' to be better all round but there may well be individual features which are not as good.

I'd also go as far as to say that, regardless of the franchise name above the door, any salesman who states that his customers often know more about his product than he does, shouldn't be given any of your hard earned cash - or at least not unless you have done all of the necessary research yourself. Certainly you shouldn't trust such a salesman to advise you on your purchase.

Sorry yes I'd missed that post sorry and only read it after your nudge.

As I've mentioned I didn't know the Amundsen was anything else other than a Sat Nav system as it states in the brochure, I didnt know the brand and assumed it was just that, a sat nav as stated in the brochure (do I need to double check every statement SKODA make in the brochure?). I had explored the rest of the brochure further but could only find reference to the Columbus sat nav actually replacing the Bolerno. Due to the lack of any mention of the Amundsen sat nav I assumed it was in addition to, yes. It didn't state otherwise.

You're obviously correct in what you're saying about dealerships not knowing the spec of the vehicle inside out. It was because it was a very ltd edtn I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I guess I've belived the hype of SKODA excellent customer care a bit too carelessly.

Apart from the obvious sat nav and radio what other things are displayed on the amundsen screen

reversing sensors?

climate zone control?

Hype of skoda excellent customer care?

Don't know where you heard that. I have a good local dealer (Adamsons of deal) and found Alan at progress skoda of Bedford to be extremely helpful. Almost without exception every other dealer I've had experience of as a customer has been terrible (and we're talking about half a dozen) have been poor and my only two experiences with skoda UK have been a waste of time.

And as for anyone being unconditional Skoda lovers, as far as I am aware, we are all contributors to this forum because we drive a Skoda (myself coming from far more "premium" brands prior to this). None of us are blind to their faults, and I, probably more than many on here have reasons to be extremely wary of Skoda & their dealers - but I cannot sit back when Skoda are being blamed for something that is in no way their fault due to someone else's incompetency.

I am sorry if this is starting to sound a little harsh, but it seems obvious to me that you are not prepared to listen to reason and will not stop until someone agrees with you - even though the facts are obvious that you are wrong on this matter.

Not all of us "drive a skoda" maybe that is why we join this excellent forum to learn as much as we can about our future skodas eg AM I GETTING A SILVER BLACKLINE (its driving me nuts)

Stuart, if you are not prepared to read the literature and do the research on the equipment in the first place, and then compound your mistake by not being prepared to listen to facts afterwards, then I am not prepared to waste any more of my time with you or provide reasoned argument. One can only assume that as it has not been stamped in three feet high letters on your forehead at the point of sale (despite you admitting to being told correctly by the dealer) and you are adamant that you are completely fault free and blameless (lets face it, it could never actually be your fault could it?), then you are also the type of person that would happily and ignorantly walk over a cliff edge purely because there is no sign warning you that it would be dangerous to do so. Either that or you are here purely for the purposes of trolling.

If you read my previous posts you'll see you've made an error in not reading my posts correctly. I have not "admitted" the dealership advised the 6 CD changer was not present - I have not stated this at any point. Only that when I asked the dealership they glossed over the issue referring me to the brochure which is where the my story states. Clearly if they had I wouldn't be complaining as that would be silly of me.

I have quoted the brochure contents to back up my opinion and would ask that you do the same. Your comments started out as interesting and factual (i.e referring to your experiences re the lights etc) and I would have liked to have heard more. Statements regarding research which are not backed up with page numbers and actual quotes are not helpful. Instead I'm accused of being stupid despite a reasoned and fact based argument. You too assume I should know that the Armsdun Sat nav replaces the Bolerno stereo which I didn't as I was relying entirely on the sales staff and the brochure in my possession. Perhaps if it referred to it as a head unit or something other than sat nav then I might pushed the matter further and realised what I wasn't getting. Or merely a statement like there is for the Columbus sat nav.

On reflection it does seem very 1990s to assume that a 6 CD changer is a premium feature on a car nowadays but one which the purchase experience did nothing to inform me in a clear sense otherwise. My intention today was to see if anyone else felt to the same way about the changer and it seems no one cares about one. It blackline is a superb drive, great build, loads of other kit for the excellent price, which is why I bought one in the first place.

What I am most concerned about is that mr_awol and VRS2012blue both seem to like your statements regarding me walking off cliffs etc. Its only insulting and disappointing.

Back to the black lines, picked mine up tonight so can't really give much of an opinion yet,but when signing all the paperwork TIm the salesman told me after the struggle to get mine,it arrived 2weeks ago he has just secured another one,I didn't ask the spec, after spending a good 20mins explaining the car and amundson to me,I was very impressed with this service.................ps I was not expecting it to hold 6cd,s as they explain in the brochure under the pic of the Columbus sat nav it only takes one cd.so don't assume anything.......

Thanks to anyone whos given me advice today. I WILL shut up about the issue on here now. After this post unless someone wants to advise me. But theres nothing on here thats changed my mind on the issue of whether the issue was clear or not. Clearly the stereo I have is an excellent one, it just doesn't come with a 6 CD changer as I desired and believed I was going to get. Due to my lack of prior knowledge of what the Armsdun sat nav actually is I made some assumptions based on what I read (or rather didn't read as theres not enough reference to it in the brochure) and have ended up disappointed on that single matter.

Thank you in particular Mr_awol for your comments as they are the most like I've been looking for (ie reasoned opinion and reference). And thanks to anyone whos offered practical advice on catching up to the 21st centuary on ICE.

They only refer to the Columbus, nothing about the Amundson! :hi:

Does all this mean there are going to be more than 500 blacklines out there now?

Nobody knows yet. Most people accept/agree that there were an additional 100 estates. I personally suspect that there were or will be a fair few more, although I don't think the final figure will exceed 1000. If you pushed me to guess I might say 750 or so but it's total speculation.

Lol! Why does SKODA insist on marketing it as a 500 ltd edtn?!?! I feel disappointed again yet realise its probably totally irrelevent... lol

I only bought mine in January and was told its only estates that have been released and that no hatches were available. Anyone hear anything to the contrary?

Stuart and everyone else I think we need to end this now. If you persue the matter with Skoda further, good luck.

I'm lucky, I don't have to deal with the dealers as I got to an independent as my car is much older.

I'm one of these people that read loads. When I bought my car the Nissan dealer knew nothing which was understandable but also very handy. I read about every extra, hidden compartment and so on from here.

I think as the blackline was a new spec the stereo wasn't as widely spoken about on here so the specs weren't there.

As for the brochure, I read it a different way to you. You could say correctly as I see there being no mention of a changer, maybe because I know the bolero as I bought one so researched it thoroughly. On the other hand if you thought it was a seperate module that could be why. I don't know if they had many photos when you bought the car but most stereos these days are completely integrated so a photo would have shown you just the main unit. I'm just guessing now.

Try not to get bogged down, it's a great car that you have worked hard to afford. If it was me I'd put the CDs on an SD card, the filing system is brilliant and lovely to use. Also shuffle gives you variety of all your CDs. Failing that if you have BT phone you can stream your music if you get it coded (2 minute job)

LOL...

I still have a load of cassettes actually.... can you still get ice cassette players???? lol

Perhaps finger trouble on my part but this question is for the elite members of the blackliners (those with DSG and mutifuction plus Maxidot) ;-)

If your in audio on Maxidot and try changing stations on DAB using the tunb wheel right hand side it seems to go the national list and not the preset stations. Is there a setting to change this? Cant see anything in the book.

Yes and yes.

overall I was happy with the SKODA customer service and everything went smooth but I feel a bit conned that I paid full brand new price for a 2nd hand Blackline with 1500 miles on clock and several stone chips (although very very small ones!). I wanted brand new as I've never bought brand new before but the dealer told me right from the onset that a new one could not be ordered as production had seized of the mk2. I then saw mine outside and thought it was as close as I was ever going to get to new so went for it! don't get me wrong I love the car and it's what I wanted but feel a bit conned..

looking at those Trader links that Stuart posted it baffles me how a dealer can be charging £1000 over new price for a 2nd hand car? maybe I got a good deal after all :giggle:

Mark.

This is pure speculation on my part but I think skoda significantly underestimated the demand for a model like the blackline. And if it is selling very well why not make more?

I think the following may be of use to some of our newer members!

Cheers.

http://www.thefreedi...om/Buyer beware

Since you mentioned it... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trade_Descriptions_Act_1968

Each product sold must be as described, of satisfactory quality, and fit for purpose. "As described" refers to any advert or verbal description made by the trader.

Clearly an advert stating something is present is then not clearly in line with the above statement regardless of whether adverts auto fill or otherwise.

And I'm not clear cut stating they're in breach, merely demonstating what the law requires. So relying on a brochure as a point of information is not generally regarded as foolish, according to the law anyhow.PS No im not looking to start talking about it again, only replying to someones comment. lol.

Wonder if there are any unregistered White Blackline Estates just hiding at a dealership or dock or wherever?

Time to px my trusty chariot and cant think of anything better.

Might go DSG this time as motorway traffic aint getting any better.

Time to make the call :)
