Today's mission is to find an alternator belt for he new setup. I have just chopped it figured out a rough length that it needs to be, going to buy a slightly smaller one to let the tension take up the slack, it needed replacing anyway.

Pics soon

I think it needs to be 980 on mine.

I tried a 975, but it just wouldn't quite go on

Roughly measured up, I will be ordering a belt that is 20mm shorter, to allow for the tension.

Awesome man, I'm glad we're doing the same thing ha if you find the correct belt in the end let me know as I'm ordering a 970mm belt soon

I tried a 970 but just couldn't get it to fit

And that was just going round the bottom pulley and the alternator??

Was the 970 just too tight??

That's what I wanted to hear haha I have ordered a 986mm belt, and I will see where I'm at after I try it and let you know! Also I have ordered 5 meters of 3mm and 4mm vacuum hose to relocate the vacuum control box and that ball thing on the front of the engine haha

Can you not just get a non-A/C belt? Any 1.9tdi one will do it?

I went to halfords and they didn't have one on their system, but I have considered that option, and if his doesn't work I will go down that route :)

No, I tried that and it was far too short

What do you mean what's different pip??

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Think he means what's different between the non ac models and a vrs with ac taken out, otherwise the belt should fit fine?

Here is no difference, I just couldent find a suitable belt online

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dark hero said that the non ac belt didn't fit and was far too short

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It was. Maybe the pulley's are different sizes, or the alternator is located in a slightly different place??

That's the message I got but it seams far too logical not to work. So the belt that I cut and tested came too 990, so I have ordered a 986. It might work, might not. I shall report back haha

Just get one for a pd130 from a mk4 golf. One without A/C.....
