Love the Polo breadvan, a red one like that was my first car and I always wished I had kept it.

Ha thanks mate, its a little weapon! love it, I ad a mk3 polo coupe as my first car and now i have gone back to a breadvan lol

What seams to be a common problem with fabia headlights is that they can go cloudy over time, like this...

So after a bit of advice off here, I bought some 1500 grit and 2000 grit paper, then polished and got them to look like this...

May seem quite silly, but my headlights are in a similar state to this, using sandpaper doesnt seem like a good idea to me, I fail to see how this doesnt scratch up the headlight, any tips on how you went about it?

Sandpaper is the way to do it.

It's also how you get a mirror finish on aluminium.

Yes, it scratches the surface, that's what you want it to do, but you work your way up the grades getting finer and that gives the clear finish.

If you're unsure about how the sandpaper works, get someone else to do it or buy new headlights.

On another note...Skodalad! ... Engine bay pics? :)

A gfwc says, a 2000 grade sandpaper is considered polishing paper, i wasn't happy with the finish so i just bought some new ones!

Any updates?

How are you getting on with the front topmount/ camber plates?

So it been a while since I updated this!

The battery has now been put in the boot, with a few teething problems, the resistance in the cable is too high when its warm, this is due to the length of the cable,

over winter this will be rectified by running a direct feed to the starter motor instead of going tot he junction box then to the starter motor, that job number 1 for the winter.

So on the way to edition my coolant light came on, didn't think  too much of it as i thought it may of just dipped below minimum, then the temperature shot up very quickly,

Pulling over as quickly as possible i was left with this.

The bottom hose had popped off and the o-ring had shot out, luckily it clicked back on but there was no chance of it sealing, after a few calls later i got one bought to me my a friend on route to edition.

So after sorting that disaster i eventually got to edition, woke up the next morning tried to start my car and nothing, ended up having to change the connection from the power cable to the junction box.

I just managed to get onto the field at edition (2nd to last car) and managed to scoop 3rd.

Got some big plans for winter, it will involve interior work, bay work and new wheels.

Plans already underway, by deleting the expansion bottle, The the fuel filter will be removed/relocated/hidden and the Vacuum pack will be hidden aswell,

Then all the little holes welded up to make the engine the focus and none of the crap around it.

Well done on getting 3rd at e38 they didn't do that last year. Have you brought everything from Lee I'm sure he did that on his

  • Author

Cheers ant, i have bought the expansion tank delete off him but nothing else.

I can't believe he's breaking it. Your bay should be good then for next year

How did you go about relocating the battery? What did you do in engine bay etc?

You got a vent on the battery or is it sealed?

  • Author

Ant - I know ant, but I suppose evenness can get bored. I hope so man, thanks!

Pip - just running a hefty power cable from the junction box to the boot, and I'm going to run A power cable straight to the starter motor aswell as it sometimes struggles to start, simple process really,

Started stripping the car down again for another rebuild haha I decided to remove the aircon, for a few reasons, as you can see from below, one of the main pipes was linked and over time the system had emptied itself of refrigerant.

Next is to start to relocate the fuel filter, expansion bottle and to get rid of the vacuum control box.

I plan on making up a few new brackets and relocations the fuel filter near to the radiator hidden away, as putting inline filters in may cause issues of starvation

  • Author

States to wrap up the loom with material tape, looked miles neater, also I discovered some proven plug and shoddy connections from factory so in glad I'm doing this.
