Here is the engine bay the day I picked it up.

Here it is today, not painted or smoothed yet.

It's getting there now, just going to reroute the fuel lines as I'm not happy with them,

Below is the panel I have had made by a mate to cover the junction box,

This will be painted and bolted on. The underside will be lined in a min conductive material and

Underneath the junction box will be the same so it can't arc onto the body.

In other news my car fell of the jack and knackered my sill. Mint.

And I test fitted my new wheels

Keep trying to do a bit in the car when I get chance. I relocated the ECU earlier which has cleared up the firewall nicely, re routed the power cable for battery too!

I have now insulated underneath the junction box so it doesn't short out on the body

It is very nearly ready to go for paint! All I need now is a new fuse for the junction box, new and safer battery terminals and that's it!

You just bodging the top part of battery cover to lay it flat?

Pip - there were 2 spare m8 captives where I have wound 2 long bolts through and locked it in place with a nylock nut. I then wound another but down the thread to where I want the cover to sit, if you look in the picture where you can see the rubber, that is the bolt. Then a polished dome nut to hold it in place, there is also another under the headlight that it hooks into no bodging here haha

No i mean for your actual connections.

Ooo I see what you mean, the junction box is cable tied down, the main reason for the cable ties is so I can quickly get it off if anything goes pear shaped

I might just copy you then. Ive made up some fuse holders etc but struggling to fit crimps big enough for cable into them. I have a spare battery holder to butcher up. Get us some more pics [emoji38]

Yeh I will get some pics man, it's literally just 2 cable ties haha

how does filler hold up in the engine bay right beside the engine mounts, doesnt it crack over time?

  • Author

The filler will be fine as its a flexible filler, and also its only a light skim.

I also had my mother-in-law remake the material section that screws onto the scuttle shield, no more unneccesary holes, as I have relocated the ECU and a longer section that covers more things

Also to help bleed the coolant system up as it is a nightmare ATM, this is just a bleed tap for the heater hoses, should help

I have often though about this, but a lot of the fastenings on it are chrome plated also, all the unnecessary holes removed so it does look really clean now, Unfortunatly i don't have the equipment to take the engine out, if i did things would be very different haha

I still need to get a picture of how the junction box is secured for you! i will remember lol

Looking very nice mate.

  • Author

Thanks mate, it will look better soon ;)

How much sound deadening did you use for the front doors & rear doors?

Thanks mate, just trying to get everything 100% before the front end goes back on, found a split hose earlier and I have had to reroute the small coolant hoses that go over the top

  • Author

So I didn't get accepted for UD, Tried 3 times and failed 3 times. Never again . Which means I have another 45 days to get it how i want want it! Early edition it is.

Whilst trying to reroute the coolant hoses to make room for the bleed tap I discovered that the Break vacuum hose was split!

So straight to my local Skoda garage and ordered a new one!
