This is the current situation

Started to wire brush some of the spots of rust away (i'm going to paint the inside of the legs myself)

Cut all the break lines ready to relocate the abs pump into the car (behind the glove box)

D68CE3ED-9FBF-4BF7-B131-F94D7543E99C.jpg

Marked up all the break lines with a different amount of cable ties as I couldn't find anything else haha

I'm waiting on my mate to come up with his welder to plug a few holes reweld my chassis notch as its awful, and make up all my new break lines.

The engine can go back in then, but until then (end of the month) progress will be pretty slow.

Also trying to find a really small catch tank that I can mount to the back side of the engine if anyone has any suggestions?? this will be vented to atmosphere

instead of recirculating the oily air, so Ideally it would have 1 port for the oil to go in, a drain on the bottom without the indication pipe at the side, and a vent ontop (I know i'm very fussy)

Tested the breaks on, the wheels needed 25mm spacers to clear the calipers which wasn't a surprise,

Also finally got my new heat shield from skoda

Yeah i know mate this was only a trial fit mate to see if the wheels would clear, its all got to be ripped to bits again :D

Lets hope I have a bit more luck than that! Sounds bad

I know the feeling I had a 1989 Golf GTI 16v that I owned for 8 years, it was a bit rough to begin with and it evolved into a showroom condition example!

I've got a blank canvas in the vRS, so I'll take inspiration where I can, I wont be going to the lengths you have i'm too old for all that now, but still a bit of fettling can't hurt. Yours is the first Fabia i've seen rolling on BBS Split rims which are timeless classic wheels and I'm so glad you have, the work so well!

Nice one, big bumper or small bumper??

I look froward to seeing what you come up with mate, get a topic started, so we can all nosy on what you're doing from time to time.

I love old vw's, all of my friends have show cars too so its a good community to be involved in. Very common in the vw scene, Hugely unable wheel to suit evenness taste

Small bumper, had an edition one G60 too.

I'll do a thread but it won't be anywhere as adventurous as yours lol

Nice one, I much prefer small bumper mk2's. No way, be worth a fortune now.

I wouldent wish anyone to have a thread as adventurous as mine haha Get one up!

Be interested to see how you plan out the ABS, I've though about sacking it off completely but moving it inside seems plausible.

Big weekend for the skoda this weekend, managed to get loads done, Ill let the pics do the talking.

Refurbed the shifter bracket

My glovebox was knackered anyway so I had no problem cutting it up to make way for the ABS pump relocation.

The ABS Pump mounted up

And all of the new break lines in, which were first wrapped in 6.2mm heat shrink (shrink to 3.2mm) so they are black instead of copper

Had my chassis notch re-welded as HAVAIR made an awful job of it, and anyone that has had work done there I would suggest checking their work yourselves.

Gave the legs a few coats of acid etch then silver, also about the exhaust tunnel as you will that once the cover is on

Ran into a problem, The boost pipes are going top hit on the break fluid reservior, the manifold will need to be cut and my other v-band kit welded on further back so the 90 degree bend goes between the cambelt cover and reservoir

285ADD19-7104-4FAD-A7A7-8B91131E16B6.jpg

Had to cut the engine cover slightly too, But apart from these minor problems I coulden't be happier

Actually managed to get most of the engine wired up and you cant even tell. I have routed the wired through a new hole which Means I can run a crash bar again this year

Some of them pictures are beautiful mate! The distance ones showing the full car looks great for some reason :D

also good work on the heat shrink over the brake pipes, I've never seen that before and looks perfect.

Looks ace Jack, annoying about the master cylinder reservoir but that's what we face doing new stuff, I'm sure you'll get it sorted soon

Thanks man, I thought the same, Walked in with a fresh brew and though 'dammmmn' so I took a few photos haha

Its a trick me and my mates have done for years (they also own stupid heavily modified show cars)

Its a gift from me to everyone ha

Thanks man, Yeah a small problem, Ill get the vband cut off and welded further back maybe 1.5 inches further back so the 90 degree should go between the reservoir and cambelt cover, will all be worth it

Had another few really good days on the fabia this weekend, including a 14 hour shift on Saturday.

Manged to get all of the electrics done and got the front end back on. 2 new hubs now on after being refurbed and one having to be changed due to a stripped carrier bolt hole.

New hub nuts, new ABS sensors, new hub bolt and nut (the multi-spline one at the back), painted in smooth black hammerite too, New cv boot clips on one side as I wasn't happy with them.

Got the new catch can fitted, you cant really see it in real life either its not just a bad photo ha Really good product, Really solid, well made, the bottom screws off and it has its own dipstick instead of that stupid but of silicone down the side.

Some help or advice needed guys! The car is not recognising the immobiliser

What has been done so far

1) I have taken the ECU out of the donor car

2) Put the clocks out of the donor car into mine

3) Transponder out of the key and put it into my old key body so I dont have to change all the locks and ignition barrel

Now, I haven't put the Body control module into it yet, I was wandering if anyone else could point out things that I would need transplant into my car??

Or any advice regarding this subject??
