My SM 1.2 TSi is going to be...

At present time, petrol is becoming too expensive day-by-day... here in Italy you need 1.95 Euros/liter, so I decided to "cut" the future expenses with a LPG transformation (about 0.70 Euro/liter). Furthermore, the local region laws allows a five year exemption of the yearly tax (about 200 Euros/year) to who converts own car to an alternative fuel.

After a lot of readings on many forums, magazines, etc. I've opted for a Vialle LPDi transformation kit. This is a system which injects autogas in a liquid phase into the intake system instead of first vaporizing autogas as is done in the more conventional systems and is fully suitable for our 1.2 TSI engine (CBZB).

I will bring my Yeti to the installer at the end of the next week...

stay tuned if interested to the topic!

I'll be watching with interest. The problem with such so-called 'economy' measures (also e.g. solar panels) is that the capital outlay takes a long time to be covered by any savings in running costs, which can't actually be guaranteed at the outset.

I got hit hard from the two weeks I spent in Italy over the summer. I was paying 2 euros pretty much for the good stuff!! Also, I couldnt believe the number of small cars that appear to have been converted (as well as being factory supplied with LPG??) - Punto's, Pandas etc. They must be sooo cheap to run on LPG! Im not sure I like the lpg filling location on the bumper though. Good luck with yours, will be interesting to hear how it goes. :)

Please make sure you check BRC from Cherasco near Albi, Torino. The best quality; filler in usual place; and yes I do have an interest/connection..

I think this could be a really good option for my replacement Yeti, change from the diesel to the 1.8 tsi and have it gassed? Anybody have any experience of doing this?

A friend (who drives an lgp converted Wrangler) has tried to convince me to get mine done but I think ive missed the point at which I'd have gotten good returns now as the car has already done 28,000 miles and thats when I generally change my cars. The other problem is where to fit the tank on the yeti. The boot is already fairly restrictive and there's not enough under car clearance or an under body mounted tank. Only realistic option for me would be to loose the spare wheel and have a doughnut tank located there.

In my case, the filling location won't be on the bumper but close to the petrol filling hole... and the (doughnut) tank will be located in the boot where the spare wheel is now.

A full tank of petrol costs in Italy about 90 Euros. A full tank of LPG costs about 30 Euros and with a Yeti 1.2 TSI the "mileage" is about 450 Km... it's a "big" difference. Isn't it?

I don't like BRC. At present time, the suitable kit for TSI engines which use the direct liquid injection (instead of vaporized gas) are made by VIALLE and by ICOM. I did a lot of reading in several forums and seems that ICOM kit has a lot of problem with fuel pump and it requires periodical services. The kit made by Vialle doesn't require any maintenance or services and the performances are the same of petrol and, in some case, they became even better when driving with LPG.

I will see... soon

Hello,

Have you converted your car ? I have a fabia MC (engine CBZB) and I am considering converting to lpg

You have just reopened a thread five and a half years old, by a person who has not been on here since March 2014.

I don't think you are going to get a reply. You would be better asking on the Fabia forum.
